The authors have studied the excretion of pregnanediol in 85 normal women by using the method of Sulimovici. During the menstrual cycle the mean values ± S.E. for 12 women were 1.0 ± 0 .15 and 3.65 ± 0 .33 mg./24 hr. for the proliferative and secretory phases respectively. The mean values in 63 pregnant women were 7.54 ± 0 .32, 9.19 ± 0.65, 8 .32 ± 0.67, 12.46 ± 0.88, 21.64 ± 0.8 and 28.37 ± 0.91 mg./g. creatinine for the months 2nd., 3rd., 4th., 5th., 7th. and 10th. The procedure was compared to Kloppers method and no differences were detected. As additional proof of the specificity of the method employed, the urine extracts were analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography and, pregnanediol was found to be the principal component of the final extract.

This study aims to show the methodology and results related to the calculation of fluidization velocities in a bubbling fluidized bed gasifier. The pressure drops encountered by a fluidizing agent in the particle bed are also exposed. Velocity calculation is important because it enables a good fluidization, which induces a uniform distribution of particles. Observaciones efectuadas en el lago de Junín, de 1966 a 1968, demuestran la importancia de conservar su fauna, en especial las aves acuáticas, para fines de promoción económica y social a través de su potencial turístico, cinegético y científico.Fueron registradas 37 especies de aves acuáticas, de las cuales 10 fueron Anatidae, 5 Rallidae, 3 Podicipedidae, 4 Ardeidae, 3 Scolopacidae, 3 Charadridae y otras, pertenecientes a las familias Phalacrocoracidae, Phoenicopteridae, Threskiornithidae, Phalaropodidae, Recurvirostridae y Laridae. Objectives: To determine the effect of chronic hypoxia on prolactin (PRL) secretion. Design: Comparative study. Setting: Endocrinology service, Hospital Nacional Arzobispo Loayza, Lima, Peru. Thirty strains of V. cholerae O1 Ogawa and 2 Inaba, isolated during the outbreak of 1998, were studied in relation to thier sensibility in front of 10 antibiotics of clinical use. Nine strains were determined (28.1%) resistant to 1 up to 6 antibiotics. The SIDS-PAGE of the studied strains exhibited similar pattern of bands.

Treinta cepas de V. cholerae O1 Ogawa y 2 Inaba, aisladas durante el brote de 1998, fueron estudiados en relación a su sensibilidad frente a 10 antibióticos de uso clínico. Nueve cepas (28.1%) fueron resistentes de 1 hasta 6 antibióticos. El SIDS-PAGE de las cepas estudiadas exhibieron un patrón similar de bandas.

OBJECTIVE: To present three cases of breast tuberculosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The medical records of three patients with breast tuberculosis clinic and histologically diagnosed in the Health Center between 1998 and 1999. Progress was revised RESULTS: The three cases were female patients aged between 27 and 31 years. The growth was varied flogótica and consistency, without axillary lymph node biopsy diagnosis of chronic granulomatous inflammatory process was consistent with tuberculous etiology. All had a favorable evolution and surgical aftercare tuberculosis. CONCLUSION: We report three cases of breast tuberculosis where no objective extramammary involvement.

It is reported the case of an adult titi monkey (Plecturocebus oenante) parasitized with Prosthenorchis elegans, which died at the end of December 2019. The animal was in a wildlife rescue centre located on the banks of the Shilcayo Quebrada, the entrance gate of the national park "Cordillera Escalera", in San Martín, Peru. The animal, living in semi-captivity, did not show clinical signs, but it collapsed from a height of 5 m. At necropsy, abdominal exudate, perforation at the level of the small intestine, congestion of blood vessels and mesenteric lymphadenopathy, nodulations in the intestinal wall and a severe infection of white and round parasites were evidenced. Those who do not read or read without understanding are unable to use the knowledge that, figuratively speaking, are available in the texts. This situation is common to a lot of students in elementary school in Mexico, more acute in those who live in non-urban areas. In this sense we did a study to assess the level of RC in 4th and 5th grade students of elementary school in two municipalities in the state of Jalisco, because there is no specific data about it. 112 students of 4th and 5th grade participated, 56 participants for each group, who were evaluated for their RC with ECOMPLEC test (Leon Escudero and Olmos, 2012). Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the association between the intensity of menopausal symptoms and highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) adherence in middle-aged women with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 313 Peruvian women with HIV infection (age 40-59 years) were surveyed and classified as adherent or non-adherent to HAART based on the Antiretroviral Treatment Adherence Evaluation Questionnaire. Intermediate-salinity environments are distributed around the world. Here, we present a snapshot characterization of two Peruvian thalassohaline environments at high altitude, Maras and Acos, which provide an excellent opportunity to increase our understanding of these ecosystems. The main goal of this study was to assess the structure and functional diversity of the communities of microorganisms in an intermediate-salinity environment, and we used a metagenomic shotgun approach for this analysis. These Andean hypersaline systems exhibited high bacterial diversity and abundance of the phyla Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Balneolaeota, and Actinobacteria; in contrast, Archaea from the phyla Euryarchaeota, Thaumarchaeota, and Crenarchaeota were identified in low abundance. Las consecuencias de la homofobia pueden afectar la integridad, la salud mental y física de las personas homosexuales en la sociedad. Existen pocos estudios en Perú que hayan evaluado la homofobia en la población de estudiantes de medicina. Objetivo: Establecer los factores sociales, educativos y culturales asociados con la homofobia entre los estudiantes de medicina peruanos. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio analítico transversal en 12 escuelas de medicina en Perú. La homofobia se definió de acuerdo con una prueba validada, que se asoció con otras variables. Se identificaron asociaciones estadísticas.
