Objetives: To determine the antihypertensive effect and lethal dose (LD) 50 of the fruit juice and ethanolic extract from Passiflora edulis leaves in rats. Design: Prospective, analytic-experimental, preclinical in vivo study. Setting: Faculties of Medicine, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and Pharmacy and Biochemistry, San Marcos National University. Biologic material: Rats. Interventions: Four groups of rats (n = 6) were used to determine the antihypertensive effect. After basal determination, arterial hypertension was induced using L-NAME 50 mg/kd/d VO and two days later the treatment was initiated with distilled water, ethanolic extract (500 mg/kg/d) VO, fruit juice 500 mg/kg/d VO, captopril 100 mg/kg/d VO, respectively. Arterial pressure was measured on days 3, 4, 7 and 10. For determining LD50, 12 groups of mice (n=10) were used with 7 different dose levels of ethanolic extract,...

The purpose of the present investigation was to determinate the antihypertensive activity of the ethanolic extract from Petroselinum sntivunJ "perejil"parsley in hypertensive rats. Four groups (n = 6), Holtzmann rats was used. The arterial hypertension in three groups was induced by administration of L-NAME 50 rng!kg/day orally for 11 days; of them, one group was administraled vehiele only, Ihe olhers groups were administrated parsley al dose 01 200 and 600 mglkglday, respectively; the fourth ene was the white and was administrated distilled water, !he treatment with parsley started two days after administration L-NAME and was daily. The arterial pressure was measured starting the experiment and aldays 2, 3, 4, 7 and 11. The SBP decreased significantly from firsl day 01 Irealmenl wilh parsley at dose of 600 rng!kgl day from 167,5 ± 1,5 mmHg up lo 148,5 + 2,9 mmHg (p < 0,001), the DBP...

The present research refers to our natural products in order to use them for therepeutics aims. In this proyect the Calceolarie tripartita(Sachaberros) was used to regulate the hepatical function in rats. By fitochemistru analysis has been determined: diterpens, curnarinas, and alkaloids. The cualitative analysis shows minerals macronutrients: iron, potasium, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium.

The objetive has been to determine the antiinflammatory activity in Vitro in red globules of rats and to know the security in rates of the watery extract atomizado of Krameria's lappacea root (ratania), also the marker of oxidativo stress (malondialdehído MDA). The antiinflammatory activity in vitro (Hernández et al. 2006) was in red globules of rat faced 10, 50, 100 and 200 ug/mL of extract, a solution control (distilled water 1 mL) and solution of reference hidrocortisona to 400 ug/mL; the security was realized in albino rats Holtzmann distributed in 3 groups: normal with physiological whey 5 mL/kg, A group with inoculation subcutaneous route of a compound constituted by dietilamina and nitrito of sodium in three mammary glands, and the third in addition to inoculate received 300 mg/kg of the extract administered by oral route to the day for 30 days, then it extracted sample of blood...

Objective: To determine the influence of both the ethanolic extract and the methanolic fraction containing phenolic and flavonoids compounds of Bidens pilosa L whole plant on gastric cancer induced in rats with N-nitroso-N-methylurea (NMU). Design: Experimental. Setting: Instituto de Investigaciones ClínicasBioterio, Facultad de Medicina UNMSM. Biologic material: Holtzmann male albino rats. Interventions: Following Ferraz de Souza et al., 2002, we had a normal control group, a group with NMU and NMU groups plus treatments with ethanolic extract and methanolic fraction at 300 mg/kg doses. For statistical significance we considered p<0,05. Main outcome measures: Progresion of gastric neoplasia induced in rats. Results: Indicate dysplasia and initial stages of carcinoma in the rats stomachs, which was less evident in the animals with treatment, being better the group that received the m...
