Hiring processes are intended to recruit and retain ideal candidates; those who would generate competitive value in an organization. In an increasingly global context, the challenge is often costly, inefficient, and complex. Even though artificial intelligence already solves specific tasks with greater speed, precision, and efficiency in various fields, and in different companies, in the area of human resources the desirability of the use of data science continues to be debated. By reviewing cases and research, in which the integration of artificial intelligence applications in the selection processes was tested, measuring and socializing impacts, I contribute to the current discussion aimed at overcoming the mistrust that exists by default, and that is associated with the ethical challenges and risks t assumed to solve a human problem through technology. I conclude that it is possible t...

A major problem in water companies is to detect leaks in underground pipes as water is a limited source. For many years, acoustics techniques have been used to reduce this problem enhancing leak detection positioning estimation. The correlation of leak noise signals is one of these techniques. Moreover, using the time difference of the arrival of the leak noise at the sensors, and knowledge of the speed at which the noise propagates in the pipe, the distance of the leak from one of the sensor positions can be estimated. This paper describes the importance of the bandwidth selection in the estimation of the time delay. Experimental cases from a test rig in Brazil are shown to support.

In the construction sector, the selection of personnel for the technical office faces challenges such as the lack of structure and subjectivity in the evaluation criteria, which makes it difficult to quickly identify the most suitable candidates. This article proposes an optimized procedure to address this problem through the use of the AHP multicriteria method and Expert Choice software. The process involves applying AHP to establish priorities and evaluate candidates based on previously defined objective criteria. Through interviews and surveys, deficiencies in the traditional approach were identified, such as the lack of planning and the reliance on subjective judgments. The proposal demonstrates how the application of AHP reduces the evaluation time by 70%, improving transparency, traceability, and reliability of the process, contributing to the formation of technical teams more alig...

Nowadays, the construction industry has become the main and great engine of the global economic recovery after the effects of covid-19, generating around 10.7 trillion dollars worldwide, and it is residential construction, specifically, the one in charge of driving growth in the short term, thanks to the constant demand for residential spaces. In this sense, various challenges such as new technologies, the complexity of projects, and a growing competitive environment, force the main contractor to subcontract between 80 and 90% of the activities, thus evidencing that subcontracting is an applied and necessary process in every construction project, and making subcontractors the backbone of the procurement strategy. However, one of the main risks of subcontracting is the inadequate selection of the construction subcontractor, which is often based solely on the criteria of selecting the know...

Within the supply chain, every stage of the logistics process plays a vital role—from the start of production to the delivery of the product to the final customer. However, storage management stands out as one of the most critical phases. Inadequate storage practices or poor SKU control can result in substantial financial losses for a company. This scientific article presents a diagnostic analysis of a logistics operator specializing in the distribution and storage of pharmaceutical products. During the evaluation, several weaknesses were identified in the reception and order picking processes. As a result, various tools were implemented to enhance operational efficiency. The study explored key questions such as: What are the determining factors for selecting a logistics process systematization model? And what are the implications and effects of its implementation? The chosen tools inc...

Abstract– Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) represent 90% of the companies incorporated in the world, their importance is such that they generate between 60% and 70% of employment and 50% of GDP; the Peruvian case is not different from this context since MSMEs generate 85% of employment and contribute 84% of GDP. These companies develop their productive and commercial activity in different economic sectors, including textiles and clothing; This sector, which represents 7.2% of the gross domestic product (GDP), concentrates approximately 700,000 workers and has been growing at average rates of 40% in recent years. However, despite the dynamism and importance of this sector, productivity is extremely low; This is due to different factors, one of these being human capital management; this factor is related to the deficient processes of selection, hiring and training of per...

Mine equipment selection is a complex task due to numerous technical, geometrical and economical variables involved. The variety of equipment manufacturers and agents carrying different models, types and sizes make the selection procedure even more complex. The mine planner does not have a tool to correctly select the equipment or fl eet for a project. Simulation fi lls the gap and contributes to this goal. This study tries to apply deterministic and probabilistic simulation approaches in selecting mining equipment using fi eld data from two surface mine operations. The deterministic model uses a one year production plan from a quarry. The equipment fl eet is selected on the basis of minimum unit cost for both drilling and excavation-haulage equipment fl eets. For the probabilistic approach the GPSS language is applied. Programs were prepared for various combinations of loaders and haule...

Deforestation is one of the problems that is producing a significant impact on the environment in countries that have large extensions of forests such as Peru, caused by different factors such as paper consumption, whose increase in recent years has also generated an increase in the costs and times related to the management and transportation of physical documents. These physical processes were further affected due to the COVID-19 restrictions, having a significant negative impact on customer satisfaction due to some processes that required their presence at bank branches. According to recent research, 90% of financial institutions continue to maintain a traditional document management system that consists of printing, storing and consulting physical documents, due to the lack of culture and activities aimed at digitizing processes; however, this change is possible with a model oriented ...

Embryo selection by using morphological characteristics has been the main tool to select the best embryo to transfer in assisted reproduction technology (ART). However, embryo development is a dynamic process that cannot be monitored with conventional microscopes. The introduction of incubators with an integrated micro-camera system, denominated time-lapse incubators, has allowed to register morphological and kinetic events in human embryos, becoming useful markers for embryo selection. In this report, we present the first pregnancy in Peru using morphokinetic parameters in a time lapse incubator.

This work proposes an electronic equipment aimed at measuring the color difference between fabrics for a homogeneous selection of these. The proposed method analyzes tissues with different illuminants so that, by taking measurements with a camera, the impact of effects such as metamerism can be reduced, resulting in a more accurate method that represents reality. For this, an enclosure was designed and built to allow constant lighting conditions and spotlights with standard lighting were installed. On the software side, the camera was manually configured to ensure persistent measurements over time and the colors obtained from the RGB color space were converted to CIELAB. For the calculation of the color difference, the Delta E (CMC) color difference equation was used because this is the standard used in the textile industry. Finally, a neural network was trained to estimate the color dif...
