Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are fructose polymers, linked by β-glucosidic bonds (2-1), considered low caloric food sweeteners with prebiotic function and can be obtained from sucrose by biosynthesis. The fruits of the carob tree (Prosopis pallida) contain mainly carbohydrates where sucrose stands out. For this reason, the production of FOS from carob extract was optimized using a pectinase from A. aculeatus. The response surface methodology using was applied to optimize the parameters that affected production: time, temperature and carob extract; then they were verified experimentally. The biosynthesis process of FOS was carried out with carob extract at the concentrations of 20, 35 and 50 ° Bx, Pectinase at 10, 35 and 61mg, at 45, 55 and 65 °C for 0,5, 9,5 and 18 h, with stirring at 150 rpm The analysis methods were glucose oxidase and AOAC 999.03, for glucose and FOS respectively a...

The aim of the present work was to optimize the sensorial and technological features of ice cream. The experimental work was performed in two stages: 1) optimization of lactose enzymatic hydrolysis, and 2) optimization of the process and product. For the first stage a complete factorial design was developed, optimized using both response surface and the steepest ascent method. In the second stage a mixture design was performed, combining the process variables. The product with the best sensorial acceptance, high yield and low cost was selected. The acceptance of the product was developed by an untrained taster’s panel. As a main result the sensorial and technological features of the final product were improved, establishing the optimum parameters for its elaboration.

Soursop leaves contain bioactive compounds which degrade after being separated from their native matrix. In order to protect their functionality, encapsulation can be applied. This investigation aimed to optimize the parameters for microencapsulating a hydroethanolic extract of soursop leaves after selecting a technique among freeze (FDM) and spray drying (SDM). Selection was performed through a factorial design (23) including as factors: the technique (FDM and SDM), the encapsulant (Gum Arabic and maltodextrin) and its concentration (5% and 10%), for maximizing encapsulation efficiency (EE). Spray drying microencapsulation with maltodextrin at 10% showed the highest EE. Subsequently, the drying temperature and the feeding rate were optimized through a multilevel factorial design to minimize moisture and to maximize the powder solubility and the EE. A significant effect on the response v...

The population dynamics of organisms are strongly influenced by life-history strategies that result from the optimal allocation of energy to vital functions such as growth, reproduction, and survival. These strategies, characterized by phenotypic traits, emerge as evolutionary adaptations to specific ecological conditions and define functional trade-offs relevant facing biotic and abiotic pressures. The aim of this study is to examine the link between life history and population dynamics from a bioenergetic perspective, articulating individual and population-level processes through mathematical models that capture adaptive decisions in simulated environments described in terms of constant, decreasing, and periodic resource availability over time. Using a discrete-time mathematical model with two state variables, internal energy and survival probability, energy allocation toward reproduct...

The research in the laboratory was made operating variables (reactant concentration, pH and oxidation potential) of pyrite leaching gold from river Tablachaca (Ancash Peru) with thiourea (TU) followed by electro-deposition of gold. The experimental study was conducted in three stages: Oxidation of thiourea leaching of gold and gold electroplating. As an alternative to chemical agents, TU oxidation via electrolysis was conducted to obtain formamidine disulphide (FDS), which serves as an oxidizer in the dissolution of gold. The optimum degree of conversion of formamidine disulfide thiourea in 2.5 h was obtained by applying a FEM of 4.5 V with a pH of 1.5. The anodic and cathodic compartments of the electrochemical reactor were separated by an anion membrane with the purpose of eliminating undesired reactions at the cathode. Prior to the leaching step, the mineral was washed with sul...

In this study we have developed a method for optimizing the parameters of quality of products that consists of five steps: 1) Determine the characteristics of product quality and process variables 2) Develop an experimental design with Taguchi Methods 3) Develop experiments with Response Surface Methodology. 4) Determine a neural network that represents the relationships between variables and quality characteristics. Using fuzzy variables if there is information not deterministic. 5) Optimize with the use of genetic algorithms. In this proposal, artificial neural networks ANN allow to estimate response functions; in the case of having the qualitative variables these are processed with fuzzy logic LD and in the optimization step genetic algorithms GA are used. An example of optimization with multiple responses is presented to verify the method.

This paper introduces an innovative approach to address the distribution network reconfiguration (DNR) challenge, aiming to reduce power loss through an advanced hyperbolic tangent particle swarm optimization (HT-PSO) method. This approach is distinguished by the adoption of a novel hyperbolic tangent function, which effectively limits the rate of change values, offering a significant improvement over traditional sigmoid function-based methods. A key feature of this new approach is the integration of a tunable parameter, δ, into the HT-PSO, enhancing the curve’s adaptability. The careful optimization of δ ensures superior control over the rate of change across the entire operational range. This enhanced control mechanism substantially improves the efficiency of the search and convergence processes in DNR. Comparative simulations conducted on 33- and 94-bus systems show an improvement...

The construction sector is searching for new technologies, such as drones, that prove helpful for the surveillance and supervision of construction sites, especially in pandemic situations. This research proposes designing flight planning models to optimize flight time and speed. The main objective is to develop a model that allows multiple drones to carry out supervision tasks in construction areas. In this regard, it presents a dynamic programming model and a metaheuristic based on genetic algorithms, both applied for optimizing flight plans with multiple drones. The development process involves planning the route that the drones will follow by formulating the problem with the corresponding parameters. The next step is to generate a model for the dynamic programming algorithm, which is then validated using a genetic algorithm. The proposals implemented in Python were tested in 14 scenar...

The aim of the study was to determine the maximum time to recover and cryopreservespermatozoa from the tail of canine epididymis post orchiectomy. The testes were obtainedthrough orchiectomy from 20 dogs aged 1 to 8 years. The testis were placed in sodiumchloride 0.9% and stored at 5 °C for 0, 24, 48 and 72 hours. Spermatozoa were recoveredby cutting the tail of the epididymis in an extender based on Tris-citrate-fructose. For the cryopreservation process, egg yolk (20%) and glycerol (5%) was added to the dilutedsample (sperm + dilutor). The new dilution was packaged in 0.5 ml straws, which weresubjected to a cooling curve and then placed in liquid nitrogen. Total motility, progressivemotility and functional integrity of the membrane were evaluated. Beforecryopreservation process, total motility after 24 and 72 hours of storage at 5 ºCdecreased (p<0.05). However, total motility foun...
