This article offers a critical view of university legal education, highlighting the identity and purpose crisis it faces. In this context, the author identifies three main issues: the fundamental objectives, the quality of students, and the pedagogical process. In this regard, he argues that legal education should not be limited to training lawyers since law is a multifaceted discipline and, as lawyers handle conflicts in a confrontational context, they must have skills that go beyond the application of rules, such as the perception of facts, the recognition of values and interests and the analysis of problems. The text also criticizes law school admissions methods, which focus on specific skills rather than maturity and life experience. In addition it questions teaching methods centered on legal liturgy, proposing problem analysis as a more effective pedagogical alternative. Thus, it is...

The study addressed the difficulties faced by fourth-cycle primary school students in public educational institutions in the district of Ccatca, Cusco region, in solving mathematical problems. These difficulties were attributed to the limited use of effective strategies and heuristic techniques by teachers. The main objective is to analyze the impact of applying these strategies on student performance and to propose a pedagogical model based on empirical evidence. A heuristic strategy was applied in an applied study with a pre-experimental design, involving 131 students. To measure progress, a pedagogical test (pretest and posttest) and an evaluation rubric were used. The data were analyzed using SPSS 22 and Excel. In the pretest, 67.2% of students were at the "beginning" level, 21.4% were "in process," and only 11.5% reached the "expected achievement" level. After the intervention, thes...

This work analyses the use of Spanish (mother tongue) by pre-service teachers (N=55) during a class activity that consists of explaining and solving Primary Education (6-12) mathematical problems in English (foreign language). The objectives are established in the form of three research questions about the amount of frequency of Spanish; its functional categories according to the original classification of De la Campa and Nassaji (2009); and the lack of competence in English of the participants. This is a mixed-method research since it includes both quantitative and qualitative data, collected through a questionnaire; the recordings of the pre-service teachers’ discourse; and a virtual interview. The novelty of the study lies in a new functional category: lack of foreign language competence, which precedes others such as personal comment, activity instruction, arbitrary code-mixing, an...

This work describes and evaluates the application of a module to increase the specific abilities set in action when students resolve math problems. Such abilities are: analyzing the problem, identifying and laying out strategies, applying algorithms and revising the process that leads to the solution. The module presents problems solved by the teacher (modelling strategies) and uses the work of peers in order to consolidate and evaluate the work. The study uses a quasi experimental design with two pre defined groups, pre and post test. The sample was not probabilistic and was formed by 70 students. A test with 10 math problems was used as the instrument meant for the students to use the four strategies suggested in the module. Results show a difference in favor of the experimental group, which allows us to conclude that the module has an influence in the evaluated abilities.
