In recent decades, the reflection on the teaching practices has been considered as an important means among the teacher trainers. Nevertheless, chilean research note that the universities of this country have not achieved that students of Teaching Programs may develop reflections on their pedagogical procedures systematically. This situation is no far from the reality of students of Pedagogía Media en Ciencias Naturales y Biología from Universidad Católica de Temuco. They achieve only in some cases, and intuitively, reflections that may help them improve their performance. The purpose of this research is to strengthen the levels of students’ reflection. In this context, the investigation is a qualitative one with a unique case study design. It points to the relevance of the use of class filming as a strategy which favors reflective processes on the pedagogical practice in collegiate...

Inclusive practices include diversity as a resource that favors teaching-learning processes in the classroom, although they focus on the most vulnerable people by offering them higher-quality education. This descriptive study sought to identify the inclusive practices of teachers who train teachers in an Escuela Normal (teachers’ college) in Mexico. Eight teachers and 247 students participated in the study; the Guidelines for the Evaluation of Inclusive Practices in the Classroom (observation formats and students), the Learning Strategies Questionnaire, and semi-structured interviews were used. The results suggest that, although the general perception is that participating teachers have high inclusive practices, they need greater support in the physical conditions of the classroom, metho...

Reflective praxis is a relevant instrument for permanent innovation in the training process. Strengthening the ability to ask questions and solve pedagogical problems, using research as a tool for reflecting on one’s ownwork, would be a contribution to the comprehensive approach to changes in the teaching practices of law professors. We propose, therefore, to highlight the value of the creation of a research culture of the teaching profession itself and to present a strategy, in broad strokes, for the implementation of a reflective praxis. Teaching practice in legal training is structured in a pedagogical, disciplinary, evaluative and curricular framework in relation to the context in which it occurs and the beliefs and visions of the teacher who executes it. In addition, it is the product of the conception that teachers have about what law is and can be formalistic, critical-real...

This article presents the problem of defining the concept of “competence”, due to it being an integral and complex term that has been applied in many domains as well as in a more general sense for everyday life. However, no doubt, a competence can only be tested and valuated in the practice, and it is a person who becomes competent in a context for a certain function. This is why there are many different conceptions in the literature regarding this issue; it’s a consequence of its imprecise, variable character. However, the position profiles (mainly in educational entities) and the acceptation/ graduation profiles are being more and more frequently established in terms of competences. This paper intends to check what has been valuated and written about the managerial competences training and development regarding the educational field, in order to obtain conclusions regarding its d...

The objective of this text is to socialize briefly the significant experience of Interdisciplinary - Human Formation for Undergraduate Students and Members of the Federico Arango Foundation, an exercise developed with the Cultivation of Life Semillero belonging to the Faculty of Theology and Humanities in the Religion and Culture Line. This objective is articulated to the formative proposal of the Universidad Católica de Oriente that focuses its formation processes in "the service to the human person and the community" (Development Plan UCO 2018...). This exercise is evident in the training of students in their disciplines, with the transversality of humanism, thus strengthening the knowledge - to know, to know - to do and to know - to be. Humanisms that are based on the thought of Monsignor Alfonso Uribe Jaramillo, who proposes to do the axiological in a praxis from the Christian human...

Digital Image Processing (DIP) books teach algorithms to digitally operate on images and include some figures to show the effects of those mathematical tools. In this report the creation of Imagery, a Virtual Laboratory for computer-assisted education (teaching and learning) of DIP is reported. Imagery can be used in the classroom, in the laboratory or at home. This software was developed to be used as a DIP laboratory, allowing the user to experiment with DIP algorithms, enabling him to see their effects on his own images. In the classroom Imagery helps the teacher in the exposition of the DIP topics he is covering; in the laboratory, Imagery can be used to carry out experiments supporting the topics covered in class; at home, this Virtual Lab can be used by the student to practice and thus reinforce the knowledge acquired in class. This software may also be used by the independent stud...

Objective: This study analyzes practical, didactic, and evaluative experiences in the context of university professional practice, drawing on the narratives of 47 students (from initial, intermediate, and final internships) and 9 tutor-teachers from two campuses of a state university in southern Chile. Method: Data were collected through discussion groups guided by a thematically validated script and analyzed using structural analysis, applying a parallel structure in the form of binary discourse. Results: The findings show that tutor-teacher supervision promotes dialogic learning and that the emotional dimension is a central component of student–teacher interactions. In addition, the portfolio of evidence emerges as the most widely used didactic and evaluative resource in the training process. Discussion: Student narratives reveal tensions related to the outdated knowledge of some tut...

This study aims to know how the training processes of practicing teachers contribute to the construction of beliefs about teaching at the university. Froma qualitative methodology with agrounded theory approach, professors from public and private universities were selected through theoretical sampling. In-depth interviews were conducted to collect data whichwere analytically coded. Among the results it was found that the teachers' beliefs come frominstitutional training of a normative typewhich emphasizes a functional teaching in didactic techniques, use of technology and innovation, excluding training in knowledge of the discipline they teach. Thus,it was also found that teachers carry out self-training processes on a personal initiativefor updating scientific knowledgeand develop their practices teaching with strategies that they themselves use to learn, because they believe in their o...

The ways in which pedagogical practices have evolved and how to understand the teaching and learning process are different. With the use of the Internet, the sources of information and evaluation are amplified, and educational agents within virtual education play an important role, reflecting on a new paradigm of learning and knowledge construction. From the theoretical review carried out in this document, aspects for virtual education and the tendency to an evaluative practice that does not deal exclusively with the classroom are exposed, since the intercommunication tools become and contribute to a new pedagogical practice focused on learning, giving rise to a more active role for students.

The way in which individuals and groups explain poverty shapes how they relate to it. This paper inquires the beliefs of university students about the causes of poverty and analyses the relation of these beliefs with their professional training area. An assessment instrument that considers three type of attributions -individualist, socio-structural and fatalistic-, was administered to a sample of 448 advanced university students belonging to nine social sciences programs, aged between 19 and 42 years (M = 22.92; SD = 3.12). The results obtained indicate important variations in the explanations about poverty according to the professional training area. Students of economic sciences emphasized the importance of individual factors, psychology and law students tended to mixed explanations and sociology students showed a wide preference for socio-structural causes over individual and fatalist...
