The aim of this study was to estimate the frequency of infection by Giardia sp in dogs under three years of age that go to public parks in the district of Santiago de Surco, Lima, Peru, and to determine the concordance among three diagnostic techniques. Stool samples were collected from 140 apparently healthy dogs under 3 years old that went to public parks accompanied by their owners. For the diagnosis of the samples, three techniques were used: Chromatography Immune-essay (CIE), Faust’s technique (FT) and Spontaneous Sedimentation Technique (SST). This paper presents the design, implementation and first results of a Photovoltaic Research Laboratory developed at the facilities of the Materials Science and Renewable Energy Group (MatER-PUCP) of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru in collaboration with the IDEA Research Group (Research and Development in Solar Energy) of the University of Jaen (UJA), Spain. This laboratory is one of the first in the country with the appropriate equipment for calibration and certification of different commercial and emerging technologies of photovoltaic modules in the Peruvian market. Objective: To know the prevalence of acute respiratory infections in children under 5 years of age at a maternal-child health center in Lima. Materials and methods: This descriptive, observational, cross-sectional and retrospective study was conducted using 4,050 medical records from a maternal-child health center in Lima between January and September 2018. Inclusion criteria included legible and comprehensive medical records. Descriptive statistics was used. Results: The prevalence of acute respiratory infections was 30.47 %. Sex-adjusted prevalence was 31.8 % in males and 29.2 % in females. Objective: To determine the frequency and clinical characteristics of children with drug-resistant epilepsy treated at a national hospital in Lima, Peru. Materials and methods: A prospective, case-series study was conducted on patients under 14 years of age with drug-resistant epilepsy, treated between October 2013 and March 2014. Drug resistance was defined as the persistence of seizures despite the use of at least two antiepileptic drug regimens at maximum tolerated doses. Data were collected through interviews with family members and a review of medical records. Results: Forty-six patients were enrolled, representing 26.0 % of children under 14 years of age treated for epilepsy. The mean age was 8.46 ± 3.55 years, with 42.6 % of patients being female. The records of the Los Olivos Municipal Veterinary Clinic were reviewed by collecting information on the age, sex, species and address of the owner. The information was analyzed by descriptive statistics. Records of 140 dog and 155 cats were obtained. The average age of the dogs was 2.1 ± 1.5 (range: 8 months to 7 years) and of the cats was 1.2 ± 0.8 (range: 6 months to 4 years). The highest percentage of sterilizations corresponded to females in both species (90.7% in dogs and 89.0% in cats) and of mestizo phenotype (93.6% in dogs and 99.4% in cats). Objectives: Determining the degree of agreement between maternal perception of their child's nutritional status and the actual nutritional status, as well as the relationship between maternal perception, nutritional status, and sociodemographic characteristics in children under 3 years of age in an urban district of Lima Metropolitana. Methods: Observational cross-sectional study in a non-random stratified sample from the RIS Rímac, including 367 children and their mothers. Data were collected on maternal perception of nutritional status, age, and educational level; weight and height of mothers and children were measured for concordance analysis. During the last decade Peru has experienced a euphoric rediscovery –pseudo revaluation as a country– due to its booming gastronomy, tourism and economic growth.In this context, the presentresearch uses semio-psychoanalytic and postcolonial theories to explain Peru’s social outlook regarding the concept of nation, its reunion with a non-existent identity and the construction of the idea of nation based on the marketing campaign titled the Peru Brand. Thus, Peru Brand, far from uniting all Peruvians and bring them together into the wellknown “melting pot”, becomes the resemantization of the old colonial discourse longing for a republic without natives. Therefore, in the Peru Brand advertising discourse, the “primitive natives” are white people brought from Nebraska and speak English.

En la degradación aeróbica del petróleo crudo, se utilizó un consorcio bacteriano compuesto por Bacillus y Agrobacterium, en terrarios bajo condiciones ambientales, para evaluar su eficacia en el proceso de biorremediación del petróleo crudo. El objetivo fue analizar la influencia de técnicas de biorremediación en suelos costeros contaminados con petróleo crudo, específicamente en la zona de Ventanilla, Lima, Perú. Las pruebas se realizaron con una concentración del 25% de petróleo crudo, utilizando 20% en peso de consorcio bacteriano como agente biorremediador. La eficiencia de degradación de las distintas fracciones de hidrocarburos totales de petróleo se determinó mediante la técnica de cromatografía de gases. En el Perú, uno de los problemas más importantes es la alta tasa de desnutrición relacionada a un bajo nivel socio económico. Por ello, en 1985 se creó el Programa Nacional Vaso de Leche. Sin embargo, este ha tenido casos de malos manejos e ineficiencia a lo largo de su historia. El objetivo del presente artículo es definir las propuestas de mejora más convenientes bajo la metodología de calidad DMAIC para optimizar el programa del Vaso de Leche en un distrito en Lima desde el punto de vista del servicio al cliente. The ever-growing importance of foreign investments in international trade has spurred the development of a series of mechanisms to attend to the controversies that may arise during commercial relationships. The authors not only analyze the conflict resolution methods, but also the rights conceded to each individual in the commercial relationship, and the sources from which those rights are born. The authors underline the importance of having a solid and cohesive legal framework before starting any investments in a foreign country, and to that end the Investment Treaties constitute an important structure to reassure the investors that their capital will be protected under every circumstance.

The influence of the synthetic estrogen estradiol cypionate (EC) on the resumption of postpartum ovarian activity was evaluated in Holstein dairy cows raised under an intensive system in the northern coast of the Lima dairy basin. Twenty multiparous Holstein cows were selected, and ovarian activity was monitored by ultrasonography, and blood samples were collected to measure serum progesterone every other day from day 5 postpartum until day 60. Objective: Analyze the association between dental caries in mothers y and their children under 72 months old from the Center of Growth and Development- Breastfeeding in the Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. Material and methods: This study was analytical, observational and cross- sectional. The analysis was made with a sample of 204 subjects, 102 pairs of mothers-children, the children were under 72 months old. Oral examinations were performed to the mothers and their children, we tried to associate the prevalence of dental caries and dental caries experience with other variables such as age, sex and level of education. The aim of the study was to explore the patterns of dental health services access in children under twelve years of age in Peru. Data from 25,285 children under 12 years who participated in the Demographic and Family Health Survey of 2014 were reviewed. An exploratory spatial analysis was performed to project the proportions of children with access to dental health services, according to national regions, type of health service and urban or rural place of residence. The results show that of the total sample, 26.7% had access to dental health services in the last six months, 39.6% belonged to the age group 0-4 years, 40.6% lived in the Andean region and 58.3% lived in urban areas. The regions of Huancavelica, Apurimac, Ayacucho, Lima and Pasco had the highest percentages of access nationwide. This research aims to design a method for supplier selection under a multi-sourcing environment. The proposed methodology combines the analytic hierarchy process and goal programming. The collaboration of the actors involved is essential for its application. The model selects the best combination of suppliers and the quantities to order from each one. It also allows systematizing the supplier selection process in accordance with the business strategy and competitive priorities.
