Non engineering dwellings represents 83% of the stock of housing in emerging areas of Lima city. These dwellings are build with non-appropriated masonry bricks with walls that limits don´t meet the displacement control of the earthquake design standards NTE-030 and NTE-070. Considering the database of structural test of 33 years of experimental studies of the Structural Laboratory of CISMID, typical behavior curves are studied in order to propose damage limit state for masonry walls: build with industrial bricks, build with handmade bricks and build with horizontal hollow tubular bricks. Also, results of full-scale test on masonry house performed in the laboratory are studied. Ranges of inelastic development limit states of walls are proposed from the test results of full-scale test of the three types of masonry. Big difference in the capacity of walls with tubular bricks in comparison ...

An assay based on the survival rates of UV-irradiated yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells was used to compare the photoprotectant capabilities of several commercial sunscreens with different sun protection factors (SPFs). Ten lotions with SPF values from 15 to 100 were tested using UVB and UVC irradiations. The results showed that all lotions with SPFs ≥50 exhibited similar photoprotectant capabilities. However, the lotions with SPF 15 and SPF 30 exhibited proportionally lower photoprotection levels. Likewise, the prices per gram of the analyzed lotions were compared, finding them widespread. Since the photoprotection levels of the lotions with SPF values above 50 were equivalent, it could be inferred that other factors are responsible for the variations in the prices, such as the recognition of the brand name, product presentation, marketing strategies, and others. This work shows th...

One of the most used ecotoxicity bioassays is based on the luminescence of Vibrio fischeri, for which commercial kits such as Microtox® and several others are available. However, this assay might not always be suitable for several reasons: Its protocol cannot be easily adapted for particular purposes, and it requires the continuous purchases of the kit and the availability of specialized equipment or at least, a luminometer. As a versatile alternative, this paper describes an optimized and kit-free protocol, referred to as “Macrotox”, which allows a wide range of treatment periods (for example, 1, 3, 7, 12, 24, 30 and 36 h) to follow the effects on the luminescence and proliferation of V. fischeri. While the optimized protocol involves 1-mL treatments, it could be easily adapted to use other volumes and times. Importantly, to evaluate the effects on luminescence, only a digital came...

This paper proposes an analytic framework for the balancing or weighing test, as an instance of a Multiple-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), like the ones used in disciplines like management or operations research. The change in perspective allows for an enrichment of our comprehension concerning the test, and permits an increment in its pretentions of rationality in the process of solving conflicts, in which is necessary to arrive to an optimal solution. In the first section we propose a conceptual framework concerning the development of MCDA models. Then we show three models of balancing tests proposed in the specialized literature, one of which is the model proposed by Robert Alexy. Finally, departing from a comparison between constitutional balancing and the reasonableness test, used by Indecopi, we present a complex model of balancing, which counts with two perspectives: on...

This research focuses on designing an automated test bench for alternators, which incorporates real - time monitoring using Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, advanced electrical analysis, and intelligent diagnostics based on a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP ) artificial intelligence model. The system allows the testing of automotive alternators under various operating conditions, measuring the RPM, voltage, and current generated and sending the data to a web platform via an ESP32 microcontroller. Multiple tes ts were performed during the experiment at various load levels and speeds, demonstrating a direct relationship between voltage and RPM. Additionally, the PZEM - 003/017 achieved a measurement margin of error of less than 1%, and the AI model's fault detectio n accuracy exceeded 90%. Likewise, a finite element analysis (FEA) of the system's structural framework was performed, valida...

The present research aimed to contribute to seismic vulnerability in buildings of limited ductility walls. For this, fragility curves have been developed in walls of limited ductility of 10 cm of thickness according to the PACT of the P-58 FEMIA. Data were collected from 20 experimental tests carried out in the structure laboratory of the Peruvian Center for Seismic Investigation and Disaster Mitigation of the National University of Engineering. Fragility curves express the probability that a limited ductility wall will reach or exceed a selected damage state for a given drift or displacement level. From the fragility curves it ¡is possible to observe that the probability of exceeding 50% of damaging state 2 (maximum wall strength) is: 13mm for MDL-CCA1, 16mm for MDL-CCA2, 20mm for MDL- 2mm for MDL-CCA9, 4mm for MDL-CCA5, 4mm for MDL-CCA6, 5mm for MDL-CCA7, 4mm for MDL-CCA8, and 4mm for...

When visiting health facilities in the interior of Peru, considered as rural areas, we mostly found many shortcomings in the management of health facilities, which is not allowing efficient management, one of the processes is the registration of clinical and pathological analysis, the information they have are in Excel books or notebooks, which makes it difficult to search for patient and processing reports, stopping the good service in health facilities and delays the patient waiting for their results. In this paper we present the design of a web system for the process of care in the clinical laboratory service in health facilities in rural areas, we present the details of the implementation, the main interfaces and a statistic related to the application.
