Life skills are considered necessary to achieve healthy human development and their teaching has spread globally through the implementation of prevention programs in school environments. However, these programs require easy to use instruments with adequate psychometric properties. This study aims to provide validity evidence based on the internal structure for the Life Skills Test, and to design a short version to assess life skills in Mexican adolescents and young people in school. In this psychometric study the Life Skills Test was administered to 897 students (Mage = 20.70, SD = 3.73); 74.7 % were women (M age = 20.49, SD = 3.16), 25.3 % men (M age = 21.33; SD = 5.01). 2.6 % were secondary and upper secondary education, 95.4 % undergraduate and 2% postgraduate students. The original test consists of 80 items and identifies ten life skills. In this research, the original test did not s...

The objective was to report the psychometric properties of the Plutchik Suicide Risk Scale in prison sample. Method, non-experimental and correlational quantitative research. Sample: 395 young people deprived of freedom, 84.1% men and 15.9% women, the age range was 15 to 29 years. It was taken from five penitentiary institutions in Jalisco, Mexico. Instruments: Plutchik Suicide Risk Scale and Beck’s Hopelessness Scale. Results, the Cronbach’s alpha of the scale was .745, the confirmatory factorial showed an optimal fit, the approach’s error average square root (RMSEA <.05) was .05, the chi-square ratio on the degrees of freedom (CMIN/DF <3) was 1.99 and the goodness of fit index (GFI> .9) was .949. This scale demonstrated adequate psychometric properties, which is why it is an ideal instrument to identify the risk of suicide.

The aim of the present study was the adaptation and evaluation of the psychometric properties of the life skills test in young Mexicans. Sample, 275 young students of upper secondary education and undergraduate degree, 43.6% of the Centro Universitario del Sur, 37.8% Centro Universitario de los Valles, and 18.5% of upper secondary education of the University of Guadalajara of the state of Jalisco, México. The 30.5 males and 69.5% women, the range between 16 and 29 years, ME 20 and 2.39. As for the occupation, 90.9% referred to be a student, 8.7% studied and worked and. 4% studied and home. Instrument: Life skills Test. Results. They demonstrate that the life skills test has adequate psychometric properties in this population, so it is an appropriate instrument to measure life skills in young Mexicans.

Hyperactivity in the Behavioral Approach System (BAS) and hypoactivity in the Behavioral Inhibition System (BIS) are related to substance use and antisocial personality disorders, andan inherent variable is impulsivity. Objective: To determine the association between BIS / BAS systems, impulsivity and types of crime, with drug consumption. Method: quantitative crosssectional and correlational research. Sample: 175 Persons Deprived of Liberty. Instruments: BIS / BAS Plutchik Impulsivity Scale and a specific questionnaire was developed to evaluate sociodemographic variables. A significant correlation was found between drug use, crime (p .002) and impulsivity (p <.001), as well as other prison variables linked to consumption. No association was found between BIS / BAS systems and drug consumption.

The aim of this research was to review the psychometric properties of the Frost Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(FMPS) in a non-clinical sample of 1,242 Mexican adults. The reliability and validity of the scale were assessed usingfactorial analyses, and Cronbach’s alpha (α) and McDonald’s omega (ω) indices were analyzed. The overall reliabilityof the scale was excellent (α = .928, ω = .928), with specific dimensions ranging from acceptable to excellent (concernover mistakes: α = .899, ω = .903; organization: α = .892, ω = .896). Exploratory factor analysis confirmed theadequacy of the data (KMO = .940, p < .001), with the final model fitting with five factors explaining 59.390% of thevariance. Confirmatory factor analysis yielded an RMSEA of .074, CMIN/DF of 7.882, GFI of .849, and CFI of .871,indicating acceptable but not excellent fit. These results suggest that the ...
