This study seeks to identify the main factors that have most directly influenced the coastal deforestation process on a secular scale are identified. There are five factors that can be identified as generators of coastal forest deterioration: domestic use for construction and use of firewood for cooking food; use of wood in mining and metallurgical activities and employment in shipbuilding as well as in land transport with the arrival and spread of railways.

This article analyzes training workshops against gender-based violence in Brazil and Mexico as spaces that produce an inner-worldly secular spirituality, examining their rituals, processes of moral conversion, and the elaboration of a specific emotional interiority. The research is based on an ethnography that accompanied facilitators, activists, and professionals from the psychosocial and legal fields, using participant observation and discourse analysis. The findings reveal that these workshops function as secular rituals in which empathy is sacralized as a redeeming emotion, testimony enables the transformation from “victims” into “survivors,” and a moral dualism is established between “human agency” (good) and “oppressive structures” (evil). Furthermore, a structural symmetry is identified between the conversion logic of these spaces and the global expansion of Pentec...

It reviews the publications related with sexual maturity process and factors that, in some way, affect it. It studies a population of 1570 women from Lima and 189 from Arequipa, of different socioeconomic level, with ages from 12 to 48 years. The results allow the assertion that the socioeconomic level -that it is expressed in the nutritional state- is a fundamental factor in the sexual maturity process and the reproductive function. The secular trend to an earlier age of menarche has not yet arrived to the point expected due to the genetic factor. The results are compared with those of a north european women's population. It shows that moderate physical activity improves the reproductive function and that, to the present time, the age of menarche is earlier - or at least not lates- in Arequipa then in Lima City. These results put on second place the importance of the geographic altitude...

This essay examines how the festivity of the Virgin of Carmen in Paucartambo emerges as a space of resistance against secularizing perspectives that have established antithetical boundaries between the religious and the political, the public and the private. It argues that this celebration reconfigures such premises by intervening in the public sphere, inscribing its own political subjectivity within a collective narrative, and adapting to modernization processes that, rather than dissolving its socio-spiritual identity, ultimately strengthen it. Within this framework, the study seeks to identify the main propositions of the secularization paradigm in order to develop a well-founded critique from the standpoint of popular religion, understood through a situated interpretive approach focused on the lived experiences of participants and the internal dynamics of festive sequences within pat...

The puberty is a process that includes morphological, physiological and behavioral development, which allows to achieve fertility. In this period, menarche, the most widely used index of sexual maturity, occurs in the girl. In recent years, a tendency to decrease the prevalence of early puberty has been described. Likewise, the prevalence of childhood overweight and obesity ca be noted. Thus, it can be determined if a high BMI for age is a risk factor for early menarche. Materials and methods: A cohort study was carried out with 160 students from ¨Santa Rosa¨ National School of Trujillo, Peru, who met the inclusion criteria. The group exposed was 32 girls who presented high BMI for age. The group not exposed were 128 girls with a BMI not elevated for age. Follow-up section for 12 months to determine if it was presented earlier in the exposed group. Results: In the exposed group, the av...

To calculate the age of a ceramic by thermoluminescence, it is necessary to measure the natural radioactive dose that the ceramic absorbs each year. This natural radioactive dose comes from radioactive nuclei, which are found as impurities in the soil in which the ceramic was buried and in the ceramic itself, with U-238, Th-232 and K-40 being the radioactive isotopes responsible. for almost the entire natural dose. The radioactive decay series of said isotopes will be in secular equilibrium as long as there is no physical or chemical separation of the formed isotopes, and none of the radioactive nuclei that form the decay series are increased or renewed, which end when a stable Pb core. In some cases however, members of the series may be subject to physical and chemical separation processes that interrupt the decay chains due to the environmental conditions where the decay process occurs...

Since the historic episode in which the Inca Atahualpa threw the Bible that Father Valverde would offer him, writing was a mystery for the Quechua people and took on a very special meaning for them. The written language that "speaks" to those who know how to read it was one more element of their age-old oppression. Since access to writing was denied, the monolingual Quechua-speaker also believed that only Spanish possessed this unattainable power. However, from the first decades of the Colony, the chroniclers and missionaries wrote Quechua in their reports, stories and religious books; in doing so, logically, they tried to reproduce what they heard with the only instrument they handled, the Spanish alphabet of the time, which was still in the process of being formed.

Unlike the rest of the Latin American countries —with the sole exception of Costa Rica— Argentina never legally separated the Church and the State. The «liberal» governments of the period known as the «national organization» (1862-1880) and of the so-called «conservative order» (1880-1916), including those that led the country during the bitter public debates that accompanied the enactment of the «secular laws» of the 1880s, saw in Christianity a fundamental element of «civilization» and in the Catholic Church a necessary ally for the construction of the nation, the state and the «progress.» The article, based on ministerial and parliamentary sources, analyzes the consensus and dissent in the way in which the ruling elite conceived the agency of the Catholic clergy in the process of nation-building.

The study of the «Derecho indiano» has focused, mainly, on the instances of the different bodies of the secular power. However, to fully understand this legal tradition, it is also necessary to refer to the canon law, proper to the Catholic Church, which had a decisive influence on the conformation of the Colonial Hispanic America. Its discovery has followed his own dynamic, in which the study of the conciliar tradition of the different ecclesiastical provinces has been fundamental. In the present article we want to reconstruct the historiographical process that allowed us to discover the historicity of the Third Mexican Provincial Council, with emphasis on what happened between 1958 and 1987. Then the most important documentary findings were made and the questions that still guide our efforts were raised.

In this paper, I establish a reconstruction of the tensions between the theological and secular foundations of the concept of property during the Middle Ages. What I propose is that this tension is represented as well by tensions between the power of the church and monarchical power, which leads, in turn, to the secularization processes that we can find as a basis for modernity. In that sense, from this tension also arises the basis for the modern capitalist conception of property.
