This text is part of a research paper called: "The influence of ABP on the development of critical thinking skills." Taking into consideration the main foundations established by Barrows (1982) regarding the ABP methodology, this pedagogical practice is introduced as a means to promote PC skills in higher education students. Likewise, the text serves as a reference for the teaching community in its search for the application of new active learning strategies that generate in its students formative aspects of a socio-critical nature with respect to their environment.

The aim of this study was to examine the preliminary evidence of validity of the Research Self-Efficacy Scale (RSE) through the analysis of item contents. A sample of ten research psychologists (70% male; Mage = 47.2 years old), and 34 Peruvian college students (> 70% female), both undergraduate (n = 19) and graduate (n = 15) was assessed. The researchers evaluated the relevance and clarity of the items, and the students, the clarity of the RSE statements. The answers given by the judges were systematized through Aiken’s V with confidence intervals, obtaining favorable results. In conclusion, the RSE exhibits favorable evidence regarding the representativity of the items. The practical implications of the findings are discussed here.

Communication for development (CfD) is a discipline that seeks to promote social change through the strategic use of media and participatory dialogue. However, there is a paucity of studies that systematically and critically analyze the social processes underlying CfD interventions and their impact on the social significance of beneficiary communities. This article presents a narrative review of the literature on CfD, with the aim of identifying the main theoretical and methodological approaches that have addressed this topic, as well as the main limitations and challenges facing research in this field. Thirty-five articles published between 2018 and 2023 were analyzed, selected through a search in the Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, Redalyc and Latindex databases. The results show that most of the studies adopt a qualitative and participatory perspective, focused on the analysis of spec...

Industrial development and population growth are causing the overproduction of waste. Sometimes these materials, even though are considered inert, are disposed on the land causing alterations to the environment, particularly in the landscape. Examples of these wastes are tires, construction rubbishes coming from pipe and soil, some pruning material and plastic bags. This paper focuses in the use of this kind of waste to prepare masonries of concrete and others with soil; were used both masonries, named ecobricks, to build short walls that were tested in compression strength. The results indicate that the lightweight concrete specimens obtained shown a higher compressive strength than specimens prepared with soil. This research emphasizes the relevance of reuse some material to protect the environment and offering alternatives for reducing the negative impact generated by inadequate dispo...

Objectives. To describe the prioritization process for developing the clinical practice guidelines (GPC) in the Seguro Social del Peru (EsSalud). Methods. The prioritization process was carried out through a multicriteria analysis in three steps: identify the variables, obtain information from them and assign them a weighting. Finally, an ordered list was obtained that was put to the consideration of the policy makers. Results. The five diseases with the highest number of DALY (disability adjusted life year) were osteoarthritis, glaucoma, schizophrenia, osteoporosis and pathological fractures, and diabetes mellitus. The most spending for drugs were hemophilia, the nephritis group, nephrosis (mainly chronic renal failure), rheumatoid arthritis, breast cancer and AIDS. Priority diseases from the point of view of the services offered were those with high mortality and high disability. Concl...

Mind maps are usually employed by teachers from all the educational levels as powerful learning strategies. This use enables important pedagogic achievements, but they do not exceed their maximum level, due to the dogmatic use of Tony Buzan's mind map (1996). Situation that would be different if it were entirely internalized, understand and applied. Precisely for that reason, the triarchic theory of intelligence developed by Rober Sternberg (1985) allows students to make decisions in several difficult situations with the suitable use of techniques and orientations in the development of the same intelligence. The research was developed by means of the case study from the qualitative focus, in which through the analysis of the evidences found and the use of an instrument that measured the successful intelligence, its development could be confirmed. However, the empiric analysis was not eno...

It has been demonstrated that economic growth is a required condition but not enough to reduce poverty and inequality, which are obstacles to the full development of every society. As a result, different perspectives have emerged to challenge the current measurement of development, based on gross domestic product (GDP). Inclusive growth is a new approach that offers a combination of increased prosperity and greater equity. This article argues that the perspective of inclusive growth can draw on strategies implemented as local economic development (LED), and that communication for development is a significant alternative to move from discourse to implementation of endogenous processes. This analysis is based on the reality of countries rich in natural resources, particularly Peru, where economic growth and reduction of monetary poverty have been considerable, while the quality of life of ...

Communication has traditionally been associated with mass media dissemination; however, there are communicative processes that transcend this classical view and deserve recognition in their own right as meaningful communicative processes. This study aims to analyze communicative practices from a development perspective in two radio production experiences in Cusco, Peru. The first involves adolescents, youth, and adult migrants from the Q’ero Nation (Paucartambo) currently residing in Cusco; the second centers on members of the Rural Communicators Network in the district of Accha, Paruro. A qualitative phenomenological methodology was employed, based on the use of semi-structured interviews. The findings reveal that the communicative needs of these social groups shaped radio experiences that were closely linked to development processes, environmental sustainability, and a strong cultura...

The objective was to understand the training process in research as an academic practice, raising the need for strategies in the face of the weak habit of reading in training settings that allow us to respond to the crisis of interpretation of social problems. This reflection was raised from the phenomenological-hermeneutic method with a social-critical approach in a period of 2 years, training and accompanying 436 students with 145 proposals of formative research, collecting information through 5 semi-structured interviews with teachers and 50 student surveys. Therefore, this reflection is the starting point of a pedagogical proposal that promotes reading and critical reflection exercises. Consequently, the social sciences must formulate research routes that cross the curriculum, seeking in turn to guide and enhance the work of students in research procedures.

Introduction: In interns at the hospital, there is a lack of clinical competencies, as their inability to take initiative, make accurate diagnoses, and address patient concerns due to their limited clinical judgment was observed. This is a problem both professionally and personally, as it indicates a lack of organization due to poor communication among colleagues. Additionally, the actions of the professional are perceived as unsafe and unreliable behaviors, demonstrating a rational crisis that impacts the population. Objective: To determine the relationship between metacognitive strategies and the development of clinical competencies in Obstetrics interns at a national hospital in Lima, 2022. Materials and Methods: This is a quantitative, basic, correlational, cross-sectional study with a non-experimental design and simple random sampling. The population consisted of 90 interns, and a s...
