The present study evaluated the conferred protection by two immune complex (Icx) vaccines containing a 2512 strain of Infectious Bursa Disease virus (IBDV) linked to a virus specific antibodies. Groups A and B were subcutaneously vaccinated at one day old using two commercial Icx vaccines; Group C was submitted to the traditional vaccination programme using intermediate vaccines at 10 and 18 days of age; and Group D (control) remained without vaccination. At 35 days of age, 45 birds of each group were challenged with a standard IBDV strain F52/70. At days 4, 7, and 10 post challenge, 15 birds of each group were slaughtered for the evaluation of pathological lesions. Protection was measured through clinical signs, bursal index (BI), gross and microscopic lesions, serology, and productive parameters after challenge. Birds of all groups presented depression and diarrhoea, especially in grou...

Introduction: The infiltration of botulinum toxin type A causes chemical denervation of the abdominal wall muscles surrounding the hernia defects of complex eventrations, favoring their repair. Report: 11 cases aren presented with complex eventrations, whose lateral muscle complexes were infiltrated, with botulinum toxin type A (Botox®), as a prehabilitative measure. In the post-infiltration tomographic images, we observed a decrease in the transverse diameter of the right lateral complex between 0.2 to 2 cm and between 0.6 to 1.5 cm on the left side, which represented a reduction of 38% and 40% respectively. In more than 90% of cases, complete fascial closure of the defect was achieved. Conclusion: The use of botulinum toxin type A, in complex incisional hernias, due to its relaxing action on the infiltrated muscles, causes thinning, therefore muscle elongation, favoring aponeurotic cl...

We present a clinical case of a 16-year-old patient with multiple facial fractures as a result of a third-party physical attack, for which he underwent facial reconstruction after planning and 3D printing. This case report aims to highlight the importance of using technologies such as 3D printing to reconstruct the face following panfacial trauma in a pediatric patient. 3D printing facilitates the reproduction of anatomically sized custom models designed in software from images of a tomographic study, as recent studies reinforce the benefits of using 3D printing for good preoperative planning and achieving the patient's postoperative goals.

The purpose of this study was to identify, describe, and explain the necessary professional competencies that Huánuco economists must develop and possess in a complex post-pandemic scenario. The research was framed within a quantitative approach methodology, using a non-experimental design, based on the observation of the profile of the Huánuco economist in the post-COVID period, of an applied type. The study worked with 203 economists, divided into 102 professionals and 101 business owners, to whom a questionnaire was administered as part of the study's data collection instrument. The most notable results were that the competencies considered very important by economists are critical thinking (56.1%), ethical decision-making (57.7%), data and statistical analysis (40.9%), and communication skills (38.7%). Furthermore, 33.3% of economists perceive that challenges outweighed opportuniti...

Considering the complexity of circumstances that journalism is facing, academia should rethink the classical conceptions of the profession, especially when they reduce journalism to abstract models disregarding reporters’ actual practices. Results of a global research propose a new definition of journalism, a profession caught between conflicting interests that lack the supremacy of news production, as it used to be in the past century. It is all about broadening the debate to reconsider the role of the journalist in the contemporary information report, beyond current concepts such as post-truth.

The Central Mail of Lima, or formerly called Correo y Telégrafo de Lima, is a little known heritage, in part because today it is given a variety of uses, added to the fact that the last generations of the population have not come to use this service. The latter is a direct cause of the advancement of technology and the digital age. For these reasons, the objective of this work is to reassess its historical importance and the architectural design that it originally held, which over time has been modified, without this meaning the loss of its value. For this, the use of primary source was used, both in images and in information, which is the basis of this study. The conservation of heritage is a social obligation, from the field of history you can contribute to this noble deed. This article addresses Colombian foreign policy in the context of the post-conflict period. First, it establishes the relationship between conflict and foreign policy during the governments of Andrés Pastrana (1998-2002) and Álvaro Uribe (2002-2010), and explains the turn that occurred with the arrival of Juan Manuel Santos to the presidency (2010- present), the peace talks with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Second, it analyzes the global scenarios in which Colombia wants to deploy a more active, propositive and autonomous new international image in a post-conflict context. Third, it identifies the extra-regional powers that are, or can be, strategic partners in the implementation of the peace agreements and the new international projection of the Colombian state. Fourth, it postulates which countries and regional institutions are fundamental for addressin...

This study analyzes the sound discourse in the podcast “La Oruga” as a strategy to construct and transmit the collective memory of the internal armed conflict in Peru (1980-2000). Using a qualitative approach, five representative episodes of the podcast were purposively sampled and analyzed by means of a content analysis form adapted to the sound format and the context of collective memory. The results reveal that the sound symbolism, the recreation of the testimonies and their centralization are, among others, powerful elements in the construction of a multidimensional narrative of the conflict that manages to give voice to historically marginalized perspectives, thus contributing to a more inclusive, deep and complex collective memory of the Peruvian internal armed conflict. It is concluded that sound discourse, through the podcast format, is currently a strategy under construction...

Orthodontists must fully inform patients about the implications of orthodontic treatment and the subsequent need for retention. This review provides an update on relapse, unwanted movements, and different factors that can cause loss of stability following orthodontic treatment. Since it is difficult to predict which patients will present some degree of loss of stability after treatment, it is essential that they be treated as if they have a high potential for relapse. The present review included a bibliographic search in the main sources of scientific review including Medline via PubMed, Scopus, and the Cochrane library. The search strategy was carried out until May 5, 2022. Only 34 studies fulfilled the selection criteria. Our results showed that maintaining teeth in the correct position following orthodontic treatment is a great challenge for orthodontists. The etiology of relapse is c...

Metal mining is one of the economic pillars of the Peruvian economy. Peru is the main producer of gold, zinc, lead, and tin in Latin America and the second largest producer of copper, silver, and zinc worldwide. Despite its economic importance, mining has also left a plethora of Mining Environmental Liabilities (MEL) whose inadequate waste management represents a risk for both the environment and human health and is a common trigger of social problems. The Cajamarca región is the second región in Peru in terms of the number of MEL sites with the majority of them located in the Hualgayoc district. The goal of the PhD project is the assessment of the environmental impact of MEL in the Peruvian Andes using as an example two post-mining sites in the Hualgayoc district. This evaluation includes the study of soils and native plant species in terms of their metal accumulation potential and th...
