In the present article, we propose the reassessment of the role of the Plaza Firme de Toros de Acho as national heritage by analyzing its historical significance, highlighting the role it played during the Bourbon urban reform in the mid 18th century and the type of architecture of its buildings. Thus, we seek to emphasize the transcendence of one of the oldest bullrings in the world and the urgency that there is for its revaluation, despite the morphological changes that it may have suffered in the time being. Considering this, the article will focus on the study of the building itself, without participating on the heated debate that currently takes place regarding the ban of bullfights, because, beyond it, is the conservation of a monumental relic that needs to be recovered and reinserted into the rich history of the city of Lima.

The present study consists of revaluing the historical and architectural importance of the Welsch House, a shop of German origin, dedicated to the sale of jewelry and watches in Lima in the mid-nineteenth century. Through the compilation of unpublished images and information, one will be able to learn more about its transformation from the time of its construction to the restoration project that was carried out in 2012. For this reason, the study highlights its historical value, so that it may be recognized and assimilated by society. The article deals with the significance of the widening of Abancay Street, located in the historic center of Lima, in the 1950s, in order to make it an avenue and thus decongest vehicular traffic in that part of the capital. The dilemma that arose between prioritizing what was understood as urban progress, with a view to understanding that in the coming years this sector would be an important link between the center of Lima and the rest of the city, and preserving the colonial and republican architectural heritage, is analyzed. For this purpose, the Municipal Bulletin, the notes prepared by the local newspapers and other official media were reviewed, which showed their position, contrary or in favor of the widening. In the end, it will be seen that in spite of the questionings that arose in favor of the conservation, the demolishing pillory ended up being imposed.

One of the most outstanding built monuments in the historic center of Lima is the Jarava house, also known as Pilate's house (today the seat of the Constitutional Court). Despite the centuries that have passed since it was built, a good part of its architectural originality and artistic elements can still be seen. Among them, the two noble coats of arms made of stone and from the 17th century located in the upper part of the façade. On the other hand, through the use of a primary source, the evolution of the farm from the mid-seventeenth century to the end of the 20th century is rescued, including the different owners it had and an analysis of the version given by Ricardo Palma around the name “Pilates” that he gave to the house. In this way, we seek to emphasize the historical value it possesses and the importance of its conservation. On the other hand, through the use of a primary ...

The Bolognesi house is the reflection not only of a typical republican house of the early twentieth century, it also brings to mind one of the most important national heroes, Colonel Francisco Bolognesi Cervantes, and with him the Peruvians who gave their lives in the battle of Arica (1880). For that reason, this research seeks to rescue the future of the house until the moment its use is changed, that is, from being a space that housed families (private use), for one that symbolizes and protects the memory of the Arica fighters (public use), the Morro de Arica Combatants Museum.Likewise, it will be analyzed how the urban development of Lima almost meant the collapse of this historical monument. The projection of Santa Rosa Avenue in the 40s of the last century, which was intended with the widening and prolongation of the passage that bears the same name, to regulate vehicular traffic, i...
