Denoising diffusion probabilistic models (DDPMs) have demonstrated significant potential in addressing complex image processing challenges. This paper explores the application of DDPMs in three different areas: reconstruction of remote sensing imagery affected by cloud cover, reconstruction of facial images with occluded areas, and segmentation of bodies of water from remote sensing imagery. Inpainting involves filling in missing regions in images, while DDPMs act as data generators capable of synthesizing information that alings coherently with the context of the original data. Inspired by the inpainting technique, the RePaint approach was adapted and applied to reconstruction tasks. The WaterSegDiff approach, which uses a diffusion model as a backbone, was employed for the segmentation task. To illustrate the model’s behavior and provide examples of the tasks, experiments were carrie...

Purpose. The purpose of this article is to propose a detailed methodology to estimate, model and incorporate the non-constant volatility onto a numerical tree scheme, to evaluate a real option, using a quadrinomial multiplicative recombination. Design/methodology/approach. This article uses the multiplicative quadrinomial tree numerical method with non-constant volatility, based on stochastic differential equations of the GARCH-diffusion type to value real options when the volatility is stochastic. Findings. Findings showed that in the proposed method with volatility tends to zero, the multiplicative binomial traditional method is a particular case, and results are comparable between these methodologies, as well as to the exact solution offered by the Black–Scholes model. Originality/value. The originality of this paper lies in try to model the implicit (conditional) market volatility ...

The hyaluronidase from Bothrops atrox venom was purified and characterized. The effect of monovalent and divalent ions on their catalytic activity was studied, showing that the magnesium ion (150 mM) increases de activity in 40%, while glycine inhibits it by 44 %. The enzyme lacks toxic activity, when administered in albino mice in toxicity tests, but increases the hemorrhagic action of the total venom on the skin of these animals. The polyvalent botropic antivenom, was able to recognize components of the total venom of B. atrox, as well as the purified enzyme, in immunodiffusion assays. The cDNA coding for hyaluronidase from the venom of B. atrox was obtained from mRNA extracted of the fresh venom, and sequenced. The analysis of the cDNA, of 2020 bp, shows that it contains an ORF of 1350 bp that codes for a pre-enzyme of 449 amino acids, which probably is processing resulting in a matur...

This article delves into the processes of school autonomy that emerged at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, from the lenses given by the analysis of the policy cycle of the federal government intervention to secure the continuity in distance education. Through a documentary review of academic literature and official documents, as well as interviews and focus groups with figures of basic and upper secondary education, it is concluded that, historically, school autonomy has been a diffuse political project in Mexico and that it was not a present axis in the government’s response to the emergency. However, some school communities have demanded recognition of their autonomy to decide and act collectively.

The climatologically changes that involve the global heating, have produced in the last decades a great reduction of glacial areas on earth, and this is evidenced by the glacial back stripping The area of study is situated into a seismotectonic zone where an intercordilleran segment has a Cordillera Blanca’s glaciers, that produces a lot of ice2 s falls, moraines landslides and great rocks. These materials fall in to glacial lakes and produce a violent damage. Huaraz city is in the Quilcay2 s alluvial fan, and consists of the fluvial-alluvial sediments Historically in Huaraz have been reported events like landslides that evidence the risk factor and increase the vulnerability of the zone due to deglatiation and lacustrine phenomena’s of Palcarraju mountain and Palcacocha lake. For the mitigation of the risk we are showing some instructions that must be diffused to the most of the peo...

In the present work the revision, deduction and application of mathematical models in the quantification of the reaction kinetics of leaching processes of national sulphided minerals in chemical systems is made. The interaction between the mineral particles and the leaching solution is controlled by three possible mechanisms: by chemical reaction, by diffusion through the porous bed and by mass transfer; Each mechanism has its own mathematical modeling and parametric conditions. Experimental runs of leaching of gold and copper minerals are presented, in which their kinetic control equations of the most relevant variables are shown. Other empirical models are also shown that are used to elucidate the phenomenology of the leaching of mineral species, call chalcopyrite, sphalerite and galena.

Lake Titicaca, at present, is considered a natural wonder of the world. It is the habitat of many unique and endangered native species, with flora and fauna of great diversity, site of nesting of many migratory birds, source of fresh filtered water, by its volume, regulates the air temperature of the region allowing climate conditions less aggressive for life. However, in the last decades, the anthropogenic influence affected its conservation. The problems that Lake Titicaca presents are concentrated in the littoral zone, the bays and the Lake Minor. Large quantities of wastewater that enter directly or poorly treated, in particular to the Bays of Puno and Copacabana, are generating eutrophication processes. The effect of the discharges are the increase of sediments accumulated in the bottom, explosive flowering of Lemna sp. algae on the surface, reduction in dissolved oxygen levels, and...

In the present work, a mathematical model is developed which involves the equations of fluid mechanics and the energy equation to determine the temperature field of the liquid steel that enters a container to solidify, a situation commonly found in production processes of steel today. Using mathematical techniques, a simplified equation of the energy equation is obtained in which a non-dimensional parameter Pe, the Peclet number, allows to evaluate the transport of the heat by convection to the transmission by diffusion occurred in the mold that contains liquid steel. Using finite differences method, the mathematical model formulated is solved numerically to visualize the cooling process of the liquid steel, from the beginning until the solidification process starts. Likewise, the numerical computations are carried out using GNU-Octave, which is a platform to the scientific programming w...

In the age of the Internet, anonymous online users can form a societal reaction by posting large quantities of critique and insulting comments against (perceived) norm violations on social media. These so-called online firestorms, or Enjō in Japanese, tend to include aggressive behavior against the target. This research aims to reveal the dynamics of Enjō and explores how people communicate with each other in the formation process of Enjō by conducting a comparative case study. This study collects tweets posted in five Enjō cases and compares each case to create conceptual categories of the communication process of Enjō. Results show that the participants of Enjō interact with each other to define the problem of concern through exchange of information. Moreover, it is revealed that there are two types of process in the escalation of Enjō, “social problematization” and “villa...

The Acordada mutiny and the looting of Parián, depicted the electoral failure of 1828 and were a significant reflection of the economic, political, and social instability that Mexico had been experiencing since the promulgation of the first federal constitution four years earlier. This constitution sanctioned a diffuse and indirect electoral process as a result of a poor adaptation of the American system. In this context, the political campaign took place to elect the second president of the nation, whose candidates primarily represented the two groups united around masonic rites, and also associated with the two distinct ways of building the nation: liberals of the York rite and conservatives of the Scottish rite, along with some moderate Yorkists. The results were contested through violence leading to the occurrence of these two events that culminated in an armed confrontation, ending...

Latin American scholars, who have studied the Andean subregional integration process, viewed the Andean Community as a less effective attempt to follow the European Union model and pointed to its diffuse institutional framework and the divergent political vision of the Andean countries as deficiencies. However, European scholars, who have addressed their regional integration process, and even compared it with the Andean one, started from a different theoretical notion by cataloging them as supranational political systems, which allowed them, unlike the Latin American scholars, to introduce theoretical and methodological tools of Political Science to understand the policy-making process in the European Union. In this sense, the research article seeks to understand the policy-making process in the Andean Community, incorporating theories, approaches and methodologies of International Relati...
