A neural network is a mathematical model that is able to perform a task automatically or semi-automatically after learning the human knowledge that we provided. Moreover, a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) is a type of sophisticated neural network that has shown to efficiently learn tasks related to the area of image analysis (among other areas). One example of these tasks is image segmentation, which aims to find regions or separable objects within an image. A more specific type of segmentation called semantic segmentation, makes sure that each region has a semantic meaning by giving it a label or class. Since neural networks can automate the task of semantic segmentation of images, they have been very useful for the medical area, applying them to the segmentation of organs or abnormalities (tumors). Therefore, this thesis project seeks to address the task of semantic segmentation of ...

A predictive model is a good technique for prognosticating the life cycle of medical care services (LCMCS) related to its growth, stability, and decline to support information processes and decision-making based on intelligent forecasts. Medical care services require organization, scheduling, and programming attention to prevent the capacity of medical personnel. Otherwise, it could be chaotic. This research aims to evaluate three predictive models to find the best one to fit information about the LC-MCS and understand medical care services' behavior in healthcare entities. The proposed model applied to Ricardo Palma Clinic (RPC) in Lima Perú analyzes the LC-MCS information based on 4950 clinical health records. Three predictive models were trained and compared to evaluate the accuracy of backpropagation neural networks, decision trees, and multiple linear regression models. After train...

In this paper, the Quality of Service (QoS) for a concrete network based in the prospective idea of the Internet of Bio-Nano Things (IoBNT) is estimated. We use the well-known mathematical convolution for the segments of the network. This methodology is applied using the simple definition of efficiency per segment. The first segment assumes the communication between nanosensor and intra-body device, whereas in the second one the intra-body device is engaged to the bio-cyber interface through the THz band. Others segments belong to the macroscopic scale but working in the MHz band. When the full QoS is estimated and assuming the most optimistic scenario, our crude estimation for the concrete case applied to nanomedicine has turned out to to be of order of 85%. In the other side, the lowest values of QoS would yield numbers below 50% by which the network might be running in those scenarios...
