Introduction: The critical condition of the patient who presents to an emergency department creates a need to provide timely, safe and warm care. Failing to meet these expectations causes patient dissatisfaction, reflected by complaints, which are mostly justified and lead to opportunities for improvement and corrective measures. Objective: To analyze complaints presented by patients and their relatives at the Adult Emergency Department of the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital. Methods: Nonexperimental, descriptive, cross-sectional study. Our sample was comprised of 109 complaints between May and November 2019. We used a data collection sheet based on the information in the complaints book for health care services. Results: We identified 187 reasons for complaints. Our results show that direct relatives filed 47.7%; 43% involved Internal Medicine consultations. In the dimensio...

A non-probability convenience sample of 132 participants was obtained. We applied the instrument to assess WhatsApp for regulating group work, through the dimensions “WhatsApp for organizing group work” and “WhatsApp as a communication system for group work”, with a reliability of 0.92. Based on the scores assigned to this dimension by the participants, we divided them into three groups: low, medium and high rating. Res...

Vulvodynia is defined as vulvar discomfort, described as a burning pain with an average duration of 3 months and a prevalence of 16%. The methodology used consisted of a systematic review and analysis in electronic databases, through the use of keywords. The etiology remains unknown, despite the fact that various theories maintain that it has a multifactorial origin. The diagnosis of vulvodynia is made through a thorough evaluation of the history of pain, sexual history, clinical situation and physical examination. Non-medical treatment includes psychological interventions that aim to reduce pain and restore sexual function. Alternative therapies have not yet proven effective for the treatment of vulvodynia, while physical therapy, by helping to reduce tissue restrictions, helps restore the length of the muscles and tissues of the pelvis. Likewise, medical treatment includes local therap...

Education through the use of simulators has become a method for teaching and assessment that provides systematic training to participants with the aim of improving patient safety. Simulators were initially used for the training of aviation pilots. The first simulators portrayed some patients’ conditions, then they incorporated heart and respiratory sounds, and were used for training in certain emergencies. Currently, simulators contain various third and fourth generation computerized systems that include tactile, auditory and visual sensation, and are used in initial tests and in formative evaluation processes. Their main feature is the development of competencies through an increase in difficulty and subsequent feedback to identify the impact of the experience and improve performance. Simulation can be incorporated in the development of a course or within a curriculum and its inclusio...

Objective: To describe the food intake of patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus before and after teleorientation and telemonitoring sessions. Materials and methods: A quasi-experimental study conducted with 80 participants with a diagnosis of hypertension and diabetes mellitus, whose food intake was evaluated at the beginning of the intervention and at the end of the scheduled teleorientation and telemonitoring sessions. Results: At the beginning of the intervention, only 6.25 % of the participants showed an adequate food intake, which increased to 71.25 % at the end of the scheduled teleorientation and telemonitoring sessions. Conclusions: The implementation of a nutrition teleorientation and telemonitoring system in patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus improves their food intake, thus confirming the efficacy of using ICTs in health interventions for the benefit o...

Burnout syndrome affects nursing professionals and its relationship with working conditions is crucial. Objective:. Determine the association between SB and working conditions in nurses in a Peruvian hospital during 2020, in the context of COVID-19. Research. Prospective and analytical study, using the Maslach Burnout Inventory and a validated questionnaire on working conditions. Data were analyzed with association tests. Findings. Of 88 nurses, 12% had BS; 42,1% considered their working conditions adequate. A significant association was found between SB and global conditions of the work environment (p < 0,001). An increase in the working conditions score reduced the tendency (PR = 0,83; CI = 0,73-0,94; p = 0,004) and presence (PR=0.65; CI = 0,56-0,76; p < 0,001) of SB. Conclusions. Improving working conditions is positively linked to a decrease in SB in nurses in surgical centers.
