This study evaluated the online implementation of a positive psychological intervention for retirees during the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil. A mixed longitudinal design with pre-post-intervention and implementation process evaluation was used. Thirty convenience retirees aged between 52-87 years participated (M=65.13; SD=9.22). The instruments were: a sociodemographic questionnaire, visual analog scale, program and sessions’ evaluation form, and moderator’s field diary. Participants’ mood improved after the themes: values and self-care, optimism, empathy, meaning of life, and work. The best evaluated relaxation technique involved elements of Mindfulness and the most used contents were Gratitude and Empathy. There were difficulties in using technologies (access to the online room, connection instability, noise from the environment) and the non-private domestic context for the sessio...

Digital media allows the emergence of different activities that provide new ways to participate in social and political life. The Internet allows reaching groups that are normally inactive or less active in conventional or offline forms of political participation. We sought to explore the influence that frequency of Internet connection, Internet social participation and political discussion (talk about politics) have on political participation on the Internet in three different generations (n = 502, age: 18-67). The youngest participants presented a higher frequency of connection and activities on the Internet, while the older generational group exhibited a greater frequency of political discussion. In general , the three variables are relevant to explain political activity on the Internet; however, the weight of each variable is different depending on the generation considered.

This study aims to create and describe profiles of public university professors in Argentina based on their use of ICTs in pedagogical practices. The study used an online questionnaire that measures personal and academic characteristics, experiences, training and mediated forms of communication with students. Descriptive, multivariate and content analyses were performed. The results show three profiles with differential positions in techno-pedagogical aspects determined by the use of Facebook, WhatsApp and Virtual Platform. In the narratives, differential critical positions were observed according to each profile. The interpretation and discussion of results were contextualized ina scenario that is not favorable towards the use of ICT.

Endometriosis is a chronic disease of the female genital tract, the etiology of which is still unclear. The purpose of this paper is to analyze, from a biopsychosocial perspective, the structure of social representations of endometriosis of women with this disease and healthy women. To this end, an exploratory survey was conducted by administering an online questionnaire. The results made it possible to identify those particular type of social representations, the controversies, articulated differently and often contradictory in their peripheral elements. These results provide a useful basis for the construction of intervention strategies to avoid the “epistemological purgatory” in which many women are forced to live due to the discrepancy between the subjective experience of endometriosis and its expert knowledge.

The main objective of this research is to analyze the myside bias in two argument evaluation tasks: one linked to the paradigm of formal reasoning and the other linked to the paradigm of informal reasoning. For this, we develop and apply a reasoning test that combines formal reasoning tasks with informal reasoning tasks. The test was administered virtually to a total of 138 participants. The results confirmed the two hypotheses of the study, namely, that motivational mechanisms prevail over logical ability in the tasks of evaluating arguments (both deductive and non-deductive) and that the myside bias is significantly accentuated in the task of informal reasoning.

This study explores the coexistence challenges among Buenos Aires subway passengers. It focuses on analyzing coexistence problems, perceptions, and participation in conflicts, as well as tolerance towards norm deviations. An online survey with 768 riders revealed that conflicts among passengers reproduce violence and create a social climate of mistreatment, normalizing disrespectful behaviors. Participants reported a stressful environment leading to contradictory behaviors: they are both vigilant and detached, paying less attention to others’ needs and more tolerance towards uncivil behavior. The findings suggest that the lack of adherence to social norms exacerbates the tense atmosphere, highlighting the need for better regulation and enforcement to improve passenger coexistence.

This study assessed the relationship between work-family conflict, work engagement, workaholism and turnover intention in business executives. 275 professionals (65.4% men) completed an online survey containing scales to assess work-family conflict, workaholism, work engagement and turnover intention. Descriptive and inferential statistics were conducted, as well as network and pathway analysis. Partial correlations between the workaholism dimension “working excessively” (WE) and work-family conflict (WFC) werer = .21. WE also predicted WFC (?² = 26.24, df = 7, p < .001; CFI = .95; RMSEA = .10 (.06 - .14), particularly in terms of work interfering in family life, leading to higher turnover intention and reduced work engagement. Model estimates show variations according to gender.

During 2019, Chilean society witnessed massive citizen demonstrations motivated by historical inequalities. The objective of this study is to compare the perception of young adults and adults about the social protests and its relation to mental health and social well-being. 711 people answered the online survey on the study factors. The results indicate that adults above the age of 30 show more interest in politics and both groups categorically reject the use of violence during the civilian protests. Moreover, the young adults showed higher results in anomie and negative affectivity, whereas adults show better social well-being and satisfaction with live. The Chilean social protest has had political and socio-emotional consequences, which remain until today.

Identify content, influence and strategies for welcoming the experience based on the narrative of children who hear voices. Method: narrative-qualitative study, Benjaminian concepts of experience and language were used to analyze the contributions of four children, aged between nine and 12 years old, self-declared voice hearers. Results and discussions: they presented friendly voices as content that positively influenced daily life, while voices difficult to deal with induced social distancing. The strategies developed were: Reiki practice, participation in the Group, literary writing, drawing, online games. Final considerations: The contents can include voices, visions, and sensations; the influence is attributed to introspection and insecurity, and one of the strategies was the United Children Group.
