El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo comparar el peso corporal, así como índices cardiacos, hematocrito y hemoglobina como indicadores de trabajo cardiaco de dos líneas de pavos de engorde criados a nivel del mar. Se trabajó con 35 pavos de la línea BUT y 35 de la línea Hybrid. El peso corporal (PC) se registró desde la 4ª a la 14ª semana de edad en que fueron beneficiados. En ese momento, se tomó una muestra de sangre para determinar el hematocrito y la hemoglobina; además, se extrajeron los corazones y se determinaron las relaciones de peso ventrículo derecho/ventrículo total (VD/VT), peso ventrículo izquierdo/ventrículo total (VI/VT), peso ventrículo izquierdo + septo/ ventrículo total (VI+S/VT), VI/PC, VD/PC, VI+S/PC y VT/PC. Poverty, in addition to being a multidimensional phenomenon, constitutes a violation of human rights, and this must be taken into account when measuring it. In this work we make a conceptual and methodological proposal for measuring poverty in which, starting from a comprehensive conceptualization of poverty in its three facets (monetary poverty, subjective poverty and existence poverty), and from the rights approach to establish its dimensions and indicators, we apply fuzzy set theory to its quantification. The results obtained in the specific population as a pilot case, Santiago de Chuco, in the Libertad Department, Peru, show that this methodology allows a broader capture of the poverty experienced, the degrees of families’ poverty, and a better identification of situations of vulnerability, compared to the poverty line method.

En este estudio se evaluó el efecto de tres tipos de empadre y dos tipos de alimentación sobre parámetros reproductivos. Se utilizaron 210 cuyes hembras y 30 machos reproductores en un diseño de bloques completos al azar con arreglo factorial de tres tipos de empadre (posparto, posdestete y posdescanso) x dos tipos de alimentación (forraje verde, forraje verde más suplemento). El estudio comprendió la evaluación de las reproductoras durante el segundo y tercer parto. Se encontró efecto del tipo de empadre sobre las variables peso al nacimiento, número de partos por año y uso eficiente del celo (p<0.05). El presente trabajo de investigación se realizó debido a la preocupación que se tiene actualmente en relación al uso eficiente del recurso acuático en el proceso de incubación y producción de larvas de Oreochromis niloticus tilapia gris, considerando que la acuicultura es una actividad de seguridad alimentaria y desarrollo económico. The aim of this study was to characterize the morphology of the creole goat of the Volcanes de Colima physiographic sub-province, Mexico. Seventeen body measurements were taken from 371 goats older than two years and four racial indices and 17 functional indices were calculated. Data were analysed using Pearson correlation, principal component, and hierarchical cluster analysis. The rump angle, chest width and all measurements of the ears and udder showed the greatest variability. Also, the goats showed great morpho-structural harmony. Racial indices showed that goats are dolichocephalic, ellipometric, and have a convex rump, while functional indices indicated dual-purpose zootechnical aptitude. Objective: To evaluate the water quality of Cunas river by physiochemical and biological indices in order to identify the areas with good repair, between January and December 2013. Methods: It was used the observation, description and explanation methods; the non-experimental design of longitudinal type. Three sampling areas were defined: Angasmayo (Concepcion), Huarisca (Chupaca) and Pilcomayo (Huancayo). Water samples were collected in plastic bottles of two liters and sterile glass vials to determine the concentration of nitrates and phosphates, and thermotolerant coliforms, respectively. These indices become indicators of the quality of a test as long as they are within acceptable ranges. This has two consequences, first the determination of the formula for the calculation of the indices, and secondly, the interpretation of them according to certain standards. This work shows the way how these indices are determined and related, as well as the way in which the discrimination rule influences the valuation of the test. Recommendations are also proposed for the use of both indices based on the analysis performed.

Two new reactivity indices were developed within the conceptual framework of the Density Functional Theory. These new descriptors, called electrophilic susceptibility index and nucleophilic susceptibility index, were tested to reproduce the chemical reactivity trends of series of halogen-substituted quinones and 5-substituted indoles, respectively. The above mentioned molecular system were computationally treated by using the B3LYP/6-31G(d) level of theory. For these systems, the proposed descriptors showed to be more appropriate than other descriptors currently known such as the electrodonating power, the electroaccepting power and the popular electrophilicity index.

O acantocéfalo Neoechinorhynchus (Neoechinorhynchus) buttnerae Golvan, 1956 é altamente específico para Colossoma macropomum (Cuvier, 1818) e tem sido registrado em diferentes pisciculturas no Brasil. Os danos que pode causar variam desde deficiencias nutricionais, alterações morfológicas, lesões no intestino, até a morte dos peixes. Assim, o presente estudo teve como objetivo registrar a presença deste parasita e avaliar seus índices parasitários. Doze C. macropomum provenientes de um viveiro escavado no município Rio Preto da Eva, no Amazonas, Brasil foram analisados. Los métodos de recuento en placa capa doble y capa simple de agar, para la cuantificación de colifagos so-máticos en aguas, fueron implementados utilizando como base metodologías estándar. Diferentes variables fueron ensayadas, lo cual permitió la precisión en algunos pasos no incluidos en metodologías estándares. Two plate count methods, double layer and single layer of agar for quantification of somatic coliphages in water, were implemented using standard methodologies. Several variables were tested and provided valuable information that was not included in standard methodologies. The most important findings are described, such as the effect of using an excessively concentrated culture of E. coliand production of a log phase culture in only 4 hours of incubation, adjusting the concentration to an optical density of 0.3 at 600 nm (3.1 x 10 8 CFU / mL), or to McFarland 1 (3.0 x 108 CFU / mL). Objetivo: Demostrar que el efecto protector contra la Hepatitis B en estudiantes menores de 30 años del área de Ciencias de la Salud susceptibles es similar luego de completar los dos esquemas de vacunación (acortado y convencional) en menor tiempo y con menos dosis. Hipotesis: Los 3 esquemas de dosificación en la vacuna contra la hepatitis B generan anticuerpos por encima de 10 ug/100 ml generando igual efecto de protección.
