From a mathematical model given by the integral Im,n=∫Pm(x)G(x)Jn(x)dx where Pm(x) a polynomial function, G(x) a Gaussian function, and Jn(x) is the integer-order Bessel function, we have performed simulations to evaluate the possible scenario of outbreak of Zika virus (ZIKV) in a big city. Our study is motivated from the outbreaks in Brazil (2007). We have assumed a list of probabilities which are connected to the number of cases in-risk which is changing in time. Also, the intervention is defined as the fraction ΔIm,n and it is selected by the Monte Carlo step. Simulations takes into account the rapid intervention that means the transfer of those identified (e.g. pregnant women) to save and clean areas away from the mosquitoes Aedes.

The objective of this article is to identify the results of the functionality of the learning platform and its effect on the satisfaction of mechanical and electrical engineering students. The results will serve as a basis for the continuous improvement of teaching-learning online from the higher institution. The research findings indicate that the indicators that present a better perception regarding the functionality of the learning platform are related to the design and ease of navigation. However, 21.4% of the students are not entirely satisfied with its functionality due to the technical problems presented when downloading the study material. According to the results, we can point out that the functionality of the learning platform generates an effect of 70.87% on student satisfaction, the relationship was validated through the Chi-square test, in which it is determined that the ind...

Spermidine is a polyamine compound found in fruits, vegetables, meats and milk products. It is also known for its role as a modulator of functions for DNA, RNA, nucleotide triphosphates and proteins. Some recent experimental studies have shown that it has an inhibitory function on the protein related to the pathogenesis of myotonic dystrophy type 1 (MBNL‐1), providing some hope in relation to this disease presently without cure. However these studies have not provided sufficient information to explain its inhibitory role. In the present work, the existing interaction between spermidine and the MBNL‐1 protein has been confirmed by computational chemistry. The quantum mechanics analysis was carried out with the CAM‐B3LYP density functional, using a TZVP basis set. For the molecular mechanics, the OPLS‐AA force field was used, followed immediately by the solvation of the MBNL‐1 pr...

The influence of family and school on the level of independence of pre-school children is a fundamental aspect of integral development in early ages. This study has a quantitative descriptive approach. The aim of this study was to know the degree of Functional Independence in pre-school children in Cuenca (Ecuador). The participants were 30 children (3-5 years old), 15 from a public institution and 15 from a private one. The Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory Computer Adaptive Test (PEDICAT) was used as an evaluation tool, which measures the level of independence in 4 areas. The results showed that the children from the private institution were more independent in the areas of Daily and Social Cognitive Activities; while in the area of Mobility and Responsibility both groups obtained the same level. These data served as a basis to develop a parent working guide, in which activi...

Positive Youth Development (PYD) is an approach that promotes resilience and focuses on youth strengths rather than their weaknesses as done by the traditional deficit-based perspective. Research in Europe and North America show that developmental assets are associated with school success, psychological well-being, and lower health risks among youth and young adults. However, not much research has been done on these associations in Latin American contexts. The purpose of this research study is to assess the association between substance use behaviors, such as drunkenness and the use of illicit drugs, and mental health, together with the mediating role of developmental assets representing youth strengths (e.g., social competence) and contextual resources (e.g., social support at home or school). Cross-national data was collected from Colombian (n = 210; 70.4% females) and Peruvian (n = 34...

The purpose of this research is to identify an artificial intelligence tool based on neural networks to predict the behavior of performance and risk of the set of financial assets based on actions that more accurately reflect the stock market movement of the Peruvian stock market. The research initially identified the most appropriate financial asset to estimate the performance and risk values of the 50% most liquid share portfolio in the Peruvian market in the 2010-2016 period. From the selected asset, the technique of artificial neural networks with a multilayer perceptron with regression configured with 3 layers (21,85,2) was used, using a logistic activation function with an LBFGS optimizer at a learning rate of 0.01 to establish the financial, operational, commercial or corporate governance patterns that can explain and / or predict the behavior of the same in the market. The resear...

Gaussian processes that can be decomposed into a smooth mean function and a stationary autocorrelated noise process are considered and a fully automatic nonparametric method to simultaneous estimation of mean and auto-covariance functions of such processes is developed. The proposed empirical Bayes approach is data-driven, numerically efficient, and allows for the construction of confidence sets for the mean function. Performance is demonstrated in simulations and real data analysis. The method is implemented in the R package eBsc.

The supernumerary teeth (mesiodens), located between the upper incisors, are often extracted for aesthetic or functional reasons. During their extraction, certain complications must be considered. One such complication is the proximity to the nasopalatine canal, where contact with the vascular-nervous bundle can lead to sensory alterations and other complications. Objectives: To evaluate the presence of supernumerary teeth within the nasopalatine canal using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans conducted at the INNOVA 3D Radiological Center. Materials and Methods: A total of 2,805 CBCT images taken in 2023 were reviewed. Of these, 74 images presented supernumerary teeth in the anterosuperior region. After applying exclusion criteria, a sample of 50 tomograms was selected for analysis. Results: Among the 50 tomograms reviewed, 10 (20%) showed supernumerary teeth located within the n...

The need to develop a BCI brain- computer interface system for the control of a robotic arm in Peru arises from the possibility of interconnecting the human nervous system with a robotic or mechatronic system, and using this concept to recover some motor function. Brain Computer Interface (BCI) is a communication system based on the recording of brain signals (EEG). The electroencephalogram is the basis and support of the BCI technology. It is a novel technology that allows human-machine interaction in a virtual or physical environment, through a communication channel between the central nervous system and a robotic device. In recent years, the aforementioned systems have caused the interest of important research centers worldwide.

Purpose: The aim of this article is to establish a theoretical-methodological proposal to study discursive interactivity from a multidisciplinary perspective different from the traditional structural and quantitative media research. The sociological definition of interaction and the basis of discourse analysis –as a theoretical discipline and scientific method– are assumed to propose a concept of interactivity that addresses the double materiality of the term: as a structure and a process. Methodology: Grounded theory becomes a methodological strategy and is complemented by the bibliographic-documentary method and discourse analysis. By means of theoretical sampling, codification, constant comparison and theoretical saturation, a category is determined that emerges as central, for which the following are established: conceptual definition, dimensions, subcategories and indicators. Re...

Maximum-minimum bidirectional options are a kind of exotic path dependent options. In the constant elasticity of variance (CEV) model, a combining trinomial tree was structured to approximate the nonconstant volatility that is a function of the underlying asset. On this basis, a simple and efficient recursive algorithmwas developed to compute the risk-neutral probability of each different node for the underlying asset reaching a maximum or minimum price and the total number of maxima (minima) in the trinomial tree. With help of it, the computational problems can be effectively solved arising from the inherent complexities of different types of maximum-minimum bidirectional options when the underlying asset evolves as the trinomial CEV model. Numerical results demonstrate the validity and the convergence of the approach mentioned above for the different parameter values set in the trinomi...

This text aims to alert about the risks that a justice system can generate without there being a State that shelters it. The law has always been linked to the political as argued last century by the German professor Carl Schmitt therefore there could be no right and justice without the political. The present development of constitutional justice at the global level speaks more in favor of the existence of a Justice without State because the existence of a Universal State is not viable. Now, this universal justice would not only be the product of the advance of the technique but would also be the result of the liberal ideology that has always been in a clear tension with the right understood as limit or as a computer principle, as a nomos, is Say, as a legitimate authority. When the State loses its authority - through the neutralization of the technique - the right lso loses it...
