In Ecuador, the Andean highlands ecosystems, also known as páramos, are essential for producing water for human consumption and irrigation. Some páramos in the country are managed by indigenous communities that have contributed to their conservation through principles of reciprocity, territory and culture. However, these community-led initiatives are often marginalized by techno-scientific discourses and visions of water as promoted by public authorities as well as international experts working on these issues. Faced with these limitations, local water justice movements advocate for a more politicized approach that aims to shed light on the unequal distribution of benefits, access and control over water, as well as the tensions surrounding water rights, knowledge and cultural practices. This article draws on a case study in the communities of Cangahua, located in the northern highlands...

The conservation of the environment is becoming a global concern for the use of fuels from fossil waste, and the production of biodiesel from renewable sources is being considered as an eco-friendly alternative since oleaginous organic waste presents potential as Energy condition. An important aspect is to minimize the impacts generated by this waste under different conditions, and an operation related to the aspect is the elaboration and comparison of biodiesel obtained from residual frying oils with biodiesel produced with sunflower oil through the transesterification process based on ethanol. The evaluation was carried out on a laboratory scale with parameters and specifications found in the Peruvian Technical Standard for Biodiesel (NTP- 321.12-200-2008), with the exception of water content, and the oxidative stability index (IEO).The following results were obtained 739.7 mg / kg and ...

Were generated and deposited in Genbank Nucleic acid sequences of the COI gene of 207 species of fish commercialized in the human and ornamental markets. Subsequently, the nucleotide sequences were used as a basis for comparison in the specific identification of: i) larvae of catfish collected in three hydrological basins (Ucayali, Napo and Marañón), showing to be a much safer alternative to morphological and morphometric studies; ii) of fingerlings of dubious morphological identity in the export processes, showing that The specific identity of saltón blanco B. filamentosum and santón negro B. capapretum juvenile assigned a priori by the extractors was wrong and iii) subproducts of Amazonian fish, showing the high degrees of substitution in fresh fillets. The generation of these sequences bank allowed us to propose protocols based on molecular characterization of the species, which w...

Latin America suffers from a major problem of loss of Amazonian Forest cover, thus making Peru one of the ten most diverse countries on the planet where most of our biological diversity is found in forests and these provide us with various ecosystem services and play a very important in nature. To calculate forest loss, the database of the "Geoforests" platform of the PNCBMCC (National Forest Conservation Program for Climate Change Mitigation) of the Ministry of the Environment was obtained, where Landsat-TM, Landsat- ETM+ and Landsat-OLI during the periods 2001-2020. Based on the evidence, it is concluded that the Peruvian Amazon Forest, over the years, has increased hectares of loss and fragmentation of dangerous forests, predicting that by 2030 there will be almost 4 million hectares lost according to the average of annual growth, being the main causes of agriculture, illegal mining a...

This article analyzes training workshops against gender-based violence in Brazil and Mexico as spaces that produce an inner-worldly secular spirituality, examining their rituals, processes of moral conversion, and the elaboration of a specific emotional interiority. The research is based on an ethnography that accompanied facilitators, activists, and professionals from the psychosocial and legal fields, using participant observation and discourse analysis. The findings reveal that these workshops function as secular rituals in which empathy is sacralized as a redeeming emotion, testimony enables the transformation from “victims” into “survivors,” and a moral dualism is established between “human agency” (good) and “oppressive structures” (evil). Furthermore, a structural symmetry is identified between the conversion logic of these spaces and the global expansion of Pentec...

In order to increase agricultural productivity, it is necessary to manage the nutrients that the plants receive. In this sense, nitrogen is one of the most important nutrients for the adequate development and growth of plants and whose control contributes to the conservation of the environment. Traditionally, the quantification of nitrates is performed employing methods such as ion chromatography conducted in a laboratory, which leads to problems such as processing time, complexity in the analysis process itself and the need to have people trained to handle such analysis equipment. To alleviate these difficulties, some sensors use electrochemical principles; however, they present several limitations such as manufacturing complexity, cost, and difficulties in conducting real-time measurements. On the other hand, capacitive sensors have also been developed whose operating principle is base...
