The growing activity generated in digital communication platforms is raising new forms of relationship between organizations and their publics of interest. This has triggered, in turn, the production of a large amount of information, an explosion of data known as Big Data. In this new context, there is a need to study how the management of this huge amount of information faced in public relations, which is constantly generated at high speed and which requires even real-time management. In this work, we present a bibliographic review of the current state of research on the management of Big Data in Public Relations. The results showed a total 41 works. A content analysis of these works found that the activities of internal communications, media relations, crisis communications and issues management are the most related to massive data management.

Technological advances have allowed to collect and store large volumes of data over the years. Besides, it is significant that today's applications have high performance and can analyze these large datasets effectively. Today, it remains a challenge for data mining to make its algorithms and applications equally efficient in the need of increasing data size and dimensionality [1]. To achieve this goal, many applications rely on parallelism, because it is an area that allows the reduction of cost depending on the execution time of the algorithms because it takes advantage of the characteristics of current computer architectures to run several processes concurrently [2]. This paper proposes a parallel version of the FuzzyPred algorithm based on the amount of data that can be processed within each of the processing threads, synchronously and independently.

Within the commercial sector, SMEs represent more than 90% of all companies; they are responsible for 50% of GDP and generate between 60% and 70% of employment worldwide, which is why they are critical in the Peruvian economy. However, through an exhaustive review of the literature and sectoral analysis, we concluded they have a high risk of failure in the short term due to various problems, such as poor inventory management. In Peru, the provisions for carrying out inventories usually have a ratio of between 1% and 1.4% of the total inventory stock; thus, SMEs belonging to the hardware sector more frequently present this problem that affects the profitability of their companies. For this reason, the need arises to design an inventory control model that increases the productivity of hardware SMEs. After the pilot implementation of the first component, an increase in distribution efficien...

From a mathematical model given by the integral Im,n=∫Pm(x)G(x)Jn(x)dx where Pm(x) a polynomial function, G(x) a Gaussian function, and Jn(x) is the integer-order Bessel function, we have performed simulations to evaluate the possible scenario of outbreak of Zika virus (ZIKV) in a big city. Our study is motivated from the outbreaks in Brazil (2007). We have assumed a list of probabilities which are connected to the number of cases in-risk which is changing in time. Also, the intervention is defined as the fraction ΔIm,n and it is selected by the Monte Carlo step. Simulations takes into account the rapid intervention that means the transfer of those identified (e.g. pregnant women) to save and clean areas away from the mosquitoes Aedes.

Background: Studies on bibliometrics and informetrics training have focused on teachers and curricular experts’ opinion, only a few studies have examined undergraduate students and practitioners’ perceptions. Objective: To understand how librarianship students and professionals perceive the bibliometrics and informetrics training delivered to them. Methods: For data collection, we used a survey with opened-ended questions, to know the genuine responses of the participants. After working with the automatic term extraction technique, for codifying the answers we employed a data dictionary for quantifying the frequency of occurrences. The software programs used at this stage were ter-MEXt and LWIC. Data analysis was carried out with statistics of mean difference and the correlation coefficient. Results: The output of statistical analysis lets us understood how students and practitioners...

There is now a considerable increase on the part of universities in the incursion into the development of nanosatellite missions. In the aerospace sector, almost every operation is full of risks and big investments of time and money, and to locate a nanosatellite in orbit, even smaller, is not the exception. Therefore, it is imperative to know if the nanosatellite will be prepared to surpass any critical moment. The rockets or launchers in which the nanosatellites are placed for going to space, produce strong vibrations that can affect the nanosatellite. The primary objective of this work is to design a vibration test equipment that will help determine the resistance of a nanosatellite against the sudden movements that can be experienced within the space launcher. And for that, what is wanted, is that this equipment can generate the vibrations and recreate them as equal as they are in an...

Bolivia is a country with a high risk of suffering a wide variety of natural disasters, such as forest fires, droughts, floods, earthquakes, and landslides; which may cause life losses, health impacts, property damage, and services, social and economic disruption in the country. The consequences of a natural disaster usually hinder access to the disaster area to assess the current situation and make a correct decision. It is for this reason that satellite images are a valuable tool to have complete access to the area of the disaster because we can have a full coverage and a greater facility to assess the situation and mobilize the necessary help and assistance. Due to climate change and human activities, droughts have been occurring in some regions of our planet, making access to water resources difficult for human consumption, animals and agricultural activities. In 2016, for example, B...

This paper presents a dynamic response analysis of an offshore monopile wind turbine to be deployed at a near-shore area in the south-centre part of the Peruvian coast (Marcona). It is a 5 MW three bladed wind turbine that operates in an aggressive offshore environment described by its stochastic behaviour. Thus it is necessary to use a statistical approach for its characterization. The operating wind turbine is simulated using an aero-hydro-servo-elastic computational tool (FAST) that allows the simulation of coupled systems. After the simulation, this work analyses relevant dynamic responses (thrust, torque, shear forces, and bending moments). Time series of these responses at critical zones of the wind turbine are presented. The results indicate high variability of the responses and critical fluctuations located at the mudline. It is found that this variability is due to the additiona...

The debate on public policies and regulations for digital platforms constitutes an urgent topic for communication sciences. This article aims to provide a theoretical-analytical approach to emerging dimensions in research on communication policies in platform capitalism in Latin America. The work is part of a critical approach to the political economy of communication, offers a state of the art and includes a bibliographic systematization of the main debates on the State, big tech and public policies. Reflections from the notions of cognitive capitalism and platform capitalism allow us to confront the instrumental theoretical approaches that characterize the study of internet intermediaries. Likewise, the paper problematizes the dilemmas posed by regulatory proposals based on a review of state initiatives and judicial decisions in Latin America. The final discussion addresses the challen...
