Nowadays it is necessary to strengthen health information systems and data-based solutions. However, there are few graduate training programs in Peru to use tools and methods of data science applied in public health. This article describes the development process and the initial assessment regarding the experience of the participants in an international multidisciplinary diploma in data intelligence for pandemics and epidemics preparedness, which was carried out from January to May 2021. The diploma was structured in 7 modules and 40 Peruvian professionals participated, of which 11 (27.5%) were women, and 16 (40%) came from regions outside of Lima and Callao. We discussed the need to strengthen institutional and health professionals’ capacity to adequately manage large volumes of data, information, and knowledge through the application of emerging technologies to optimize data manageme...

We present the first results of the teaching methodology applied at the Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC), Lima, Peru, to involve undergraduate engineering students in advanced research projects starting at the freshman year. Students at UTEC start taking mandatory engineering semester projects, similar to Capstone projects, starting on the first semester. Students with good performance and, more important, with a high will to keep learning extra topics, are invited to participate, to learn using a project based learning methodology, in the Research Laboratories led by experienced professors. The successful students start participating in advanced research projects as developers. In this manuscript, we present the case of two students who started learning hardware design, in their freshman year, and by the beginning of the third academic year, their work, which was part o...

As of the validity of the New University Law 30220, the university quality assurance policy is applied, marking a milestone for the verification and supervision of basic quality conditions, in the case of teachers in training at the initial level of education no It has been the exception, and the implementation of the missionary process of the Pre-professional Practice has been designed in the study, in such a way that a value is generated at a pedagogical, institutional and social level. To achieve the objective, the study was developed with a mixed approach and a pre-experimental design that allowed to show the benefits of the research, obtaining results of significant improvement in the satisfaction of the students who take the Practice course by applying the T-Student test that gave a value of 4.860, which generated a p = 0.000 value lower than 0.05. Thus concluding that the implemen...

Objective: To evaluate the internal validity of a health sciences graduate program curriculum. Materials and methods: A descriptive study using a documentary analysis of a public university’s Master of Education and Health Research Program. The internal validity was analyzed through the identification of professional profile indicators, subjects’ syllabi were rated, and the congruence in the curriculum map was assessed. Personality (alpha) and occupational (beta) indicators were considered. Descriptive statistics was performed using Microsoft Excel 2013. Results: Alpha indicators such as the ability to design, demonstrate, assess and apply, and beta indicators such as being a leader, researcher, professor and assessor were identified. The syllabi achieved a passing grade, but deficiencies in the methodology, materials and bibliography were observed. The indicators "knowledge", "appl...

The objective was to evaluate the effect of the application of the GeoGebra software on the problem-solving skills of two-dimensional geometric figures in a sample of 53 university students distributed in two groups (control -experimental) evaluated in two moments: before and after the intervention. . Parametric tests were used to compare independent and related pairs and nonparametric tests were used to compare between classification levels. The results showed that the post-test experimental group was the one that presented the best performance, demonstrating that the use of GeoGebra software improved the solving skills of this type of mathematical problems, promoting collaborative work, social-student integration and improvement of the classroom climate. It is recommended to extend the use of this tool with other applications that help the teaching-learning process.

Objective: The effects of an online prevention program on technological addictions and cognitive-affective dispositions in university students during the COVID-19 pandemic were evaluated. Methods: Forty-two students participated in the sample, of which 21 formed the experimental group (EG) and the other 21 students the control group (CG). Academic efficacy and academic engagement scales were used, as well as cell phone, internet and video game addiction tests. Results: The application of the program significantly reduced the internet addiction, cell phone and video games and at the same time significantly increased the positive assessment of academic engagement and academic efficacy; comparisons between the study groups (GE versus GC) according to the effect sizes (.30 < d >. 50) evidenced important practical differences in the internet addiction, cell phone and video games, for th...

The new challenges of the information society demand from the university a severe change in its rigid canons of education. The artificial intelligence-based formats promise a very substantial improvement in education for all the different levels, with an unprecedented qualitative improvement: to provide the students with an accurate personalization of their learning according to their requirements, managing to integrate the different forms of human interaction and information and communications technologies. The great challenge of the university of the new millennium lies in the urgent need to plan, design, develop and implement digital skills in order to train better professionals capable of understanding and developing the technological environment according to their needs, as well as implementing the universalization of a digital language supported by programs developed under artifici...

The study offers an analysis of the process of Communication 2.0 in the social accounts of the health authorities belonging to the Andean Community during the worldwide public health campaigns. Qualitative and quantitative methods were brought together in order to measure content analysis and user involvement. Interviews with experts supplement the findings. Results: None of the health organizations generated an optimal Communication 2.0 index, on FaceBook, corporate messages predominated, but they were not interactive. On Twitter, the messages were educational but not corporate. The health bodies which were evaluated are essential organs of formal communication, so their communication strategies should be focused on the needs of their audience. A weak Communication 2.0 and a weak level of interest have been noted in the mandated campaign of these essential bodies that encompass, in cons...

The aim of this study was to determine the key factors of the digital teacher training system in public primary schools, which aims to improve teachers' digital competence. Digital competence is defined as the creative, critical, and safe use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) [1]. Worldwide, several countries use within their digital training programs institutional frameworks such as the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators, the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and/or UNESCO [2] [3]. In Peru, the Framework for Good Teaching Performance, a guiding document for public teachers, only encourages its use according to the purpose of the learning session. In 2020, the Closing Digital Divide strategy revealed that 81% of public teachers required training to integrate technologies into their pedagogical practice. This study used stru...
