El Dr. Mario Julio Avila Campos, falleció el 28 de abril del 2019 en Sao Paulo, Brasil, hombre estudioso dedicado a conocer la microbiología anaerobia bucal, dejando múltiples investigaciones que sirvieron de base para otras, así como los conocimientos que nos permitió comprender mejor la fisiopatología de muchas bacterias periodontopatógenas. Su laboratorio de anaerobios del Instituto de Ciencias Biomédicas de la Universidad de Sao Paulo (ICB-USP) donde laboró hasta sus últimos días, pudo recibir a muchos estudiantes de pre y posgrado de diferentes nacionalidades, entre ellos peruanos que se formaron allí, teniendo apoyo para el desarrollo de sus proyectos de investigación.

The political content is one of the fundamental aspects in the correspondence of Julio Ramón Ribeyro with his brother Juan Antonio, sent from 1953 to 1983. The writer Lima outlines in her the most general features of his political ideology, a question not addressed or studied until today. These letters allow us to know in anextensive way the reflections of Ribeyro about the social reality of Peru and the world in a very whooping and complex time: the second half of the twentieth century. They are almost non-existent reflections in the rest of his fictional, literary or intellectual work in general. Thus, this correspondence possesses a high historical,theoretical and literary value expressed in a political ideological thought.

A dos años de la pandemia del COVID-19, se lanza el segundo número del volumen 11 de la Revista de Psicología de la Universidad Católica San Pablo, como una evidencia de que este año 2011 la investigación psicológica ha continuado su curso tanto en nuestra universidad, como en Arequipa, el Perú y el extranjero. En ese sentido, se tiene una cantidad de nueve artículos que además de tocar temas diversos, corresponden a investigaciones realizadas en nuestra casa de estudios, otras de nuestra localidad, de ciudades de nuestro país como Lima, Cajamarca, Juliaca y Tacna; y de países como Colombia, Brasil y Serbia.

The criticism influenced by marxist philosophy, as well as criticism influenced by other philosophical tendencies, have directed the study of short ribeyrian narrative towards aspects such as marginality and skepticism. It could be said that a work, apparently, simple and simple, like Ribeyro’s short narrative, actually contains a complex fictional universe that can not be tackled unilaterally from a single glance, since that would only lead us to see in the ribeyrian characters traces and copies of exploited social classes or grotesque and deluded beings within an unjust social system. In disagreement with the previous perspectives, we propose that, although the problem of mimesis is deeply rooted in the ribeyrian storybook and becomes visible at a distance, it is not mainly social problems or cognitive problems that truly anguish his characters, but the existential problems.

This essay covers a little-studied facet of the career and professional development of Dr. Julio C. Tello Rojas, the father of Peruvian archaeology and one of the most conspicuous and important archaeologists of America. For its purpose the author examines the state of the art of the anthropologic and archeological illustration in Peru before the accession of Julio C. Tello in the national archaeological studies, evaluating from here the proposal, emergence and development of a school of graphic illustration, formed and directed by this Peruvian intellectual. The author concludes that the school of Peruvian archaeological illustration is an outstanding contribution of Julio C. Tello to Peru’s archaeology and history of art.

Specialized critics have so far insisted on the impact of Kafka as a narrator on Ribeyro’s stories, consistently in the same direction: it would be a direct influence on the stories written in the late forties and early fifties, texts from his youth with some fantastic or absurd element, and during a formative period in which the man from Lima had not yet developed his own voice. However, the most intense and profound presence of Kafka in Ribeyro is found in his diaries, and not so much in the themes or style, but in the common characteristics of “spiritual kinship” embedded in the realm of sensitivity and in how they both construct themselves as artists.

In La expresión americana (American Expression) (1957), the Cuban poet José Lezama Lima adapts the concept of baroque, which he understands as a principle that characterizes Latin American cultural history. The author of Paradiso theorizes the cultural history of the continent and emphasizes thelandscape as a component of its identity. On the other hand, it is usual to see the author of Alienación (Alienation) as a marginal writer, however, the observations to the text are framed within the historical stage in which it is inscribed, from a shared American feeling. In this sense, we analyze a set of Americanisms to explore the meanings of the words. The Diccionario de americanismos (DA, 2010) (Dictionary of Americanisms) of the Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española (ASALE) (Association of Spanish Language Academies) is used for the analysis.

El estudio se realizó en la Bahía de Talara, región Piura, desde los 4° 34.565' S y 810 17.045' WO a los 4035.080'S y 81° 17.779' WO. El objetivo estuvo orientado a conocer la composición fitoplanctónica de la zona así como conocer la influencia de algunos factores ecológicos. Los muestreos fueron mediante arrastres horizontales superficiales y se realizaron mensualmente desde enero a junio de 2007 con una red de fitoplancton estándar de 50pm de abertura de malla, en una embarcación a una velocidad de 2 — 3 nudos en seis estaciones de muestreo. The world literature debate has spawned a set of discussions on the role of postcolonial literature, which prompts a redesigning of the current understanding and teaching of certain cultural fields. In this context, Latin American literature has a particularly problematic position, which this article explores through the analysis of the polemics and cultural politics of two emblematic writers: the Peruvian José María Arguedas and the Argentine Julio Cortázar. By examining the impasse held by both writers, as well as their formulations on the need to universalize/globalize Latin American literature, this paper explores how these authors anticipate some key terms in the discussion of world literature when applied to Latin American literature, such as universality and worldliness, through an ideological tension that will be examined from decolonial critique and world-system theory.

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la importancia literaria del comportamiento humano como elemento temático en los cuentos El profesor suplente y Alienación de Julio Ramón Ribeyro. Para este fin primero identificamos los tipos de comportamiento humano y, luego, distinguimos el valor literario en función a la enunciación narrativa de los cuentos. La importancia literaria del comportamiento humano se evidencia porque este genera el mayor protagonismo; este moviliza y regula el hacer de los sujetos sobrepasándolo. El comportamiento patológico de los sujetos crea las tensiones del receptor lector, se convierten en la mira, en el foco de atención, provocando sus padecimientos.
