ABSTRACT The objective of the research was to analyze the internal structure of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSE) and to verify the differential functioning of the items according to sex. An instrumental study was developed in two samples, the first one consisting of 450 (226 women and 224 males) and the second one by 481 (225 females and 256 males) Peruvian adolescents belonging to public and private educational institutions of Metropolitan Lima. The internal structure was evaluated by exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Internal consistency analysis was performed, which for all models was good (H> .80). On the other hand, differential functioning was estimated through factor invariance. The results indicate that the RAS should be interpreted according to a two-dimensional model, with a strong partial invariance, and items 1, 5 and 10 should be released, suggesting that it...

ABSTRACT Adaptation and validation of the Frustration Tolerance Scale (ETF) in Peruvian children. The rate of bullying is high in Peru. Level of child frustration is one of the psychological factors involved in child aggression. However, there are few instruments available to assess frustration in Peruvian children. The purpose of this article was to adapt and validate the Frustration Tolerance Scale (FTS) for its use in the Peruvian child population. There were 796 children between 8 and 12 years old (M = 9.79, SD = 1.25, 49.70% were girls), from five private and public educational institutions in Metropolitan Lima and Callao, in Peru. Exploratory factor analysis (AFE) (n = 160), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) (n = 636), reliability analysis and factorial invariance were used to verify the equivalence by gender. The AFE revealed the unidimensionality of the scale, which explained 48...

This study aimed to validate a short relationship satisfaction scale (RAS) in a sample of young people and adults in the Lima metropolitan area. There were a total of 806 participants aged between 18 and 30 years: 622 females (77.20%) and 184 males (22.80%). Every participant was currently in a love relationship of a minimum of three months. The methodologies of Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Item Response Theory (IRT) were combined to determine the structure and assess the reliability of the instrument. The Omega coefficient (ω) was used from CFA, while the test information function and empirical reliability (rxx) were used from IRT. The results showed that the RAS could be interpreted as a one-dimensional scale when eliminating the items 4–7 and joining the items 1–2. This model shows high goodness of fit from a CFA-perspective. A similar situation occurs in IRT, except th...

In recent years, couples have been affected by health measures related to COVID-19, a circumstance that forces us to examine couple interactions in terms of crucial variables of their functioning. In this sense, the present study aimed to examine the association between love, jealousy, satisfaction, and violence in young couples through network analysis. A total of 834 young people and adults between 18 and 38 years of age (Mean = 20.97, SD = 2.39) participated; 646 women (77.50%) and 188 men (22.50%), who completed the Sternberg’s love scale (STLS-R), Brief Jealousy Scale (BJS), Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS) and Woman Abuse Screening Tool (WAST-2). A partial unregularized network was estimated using the ggmModSelect function. The Bridge Strength index was calculated because the aim was to identify the bridge nodes between the variables under study. The results reveal that two no...

This study investigates emotional involvement in romantic relationships through the Relationship Involvement Scale (RIS), emphasizing its validation and reliability in a Peruvian sample. Interpersonal relationship challenges underline the significance of emotional commitment for well-being. The RIS uniquely assesses this aspect, distinguishing it from love, satisfaction, and maintenance measures. Through meticulous validation involving translation and expert review, and a sample of 300 Peruvian young adults, the research confirms the RIS’s unidimensional structure and reliability. Factorial analysis refines the scale by eliminating low-loading items, while associations with relationship satisfaction validate its construct. Utilizing confirmatory factor analysis, the study highlights the positive link between involvement and satisfaction, suggesting the RIS’s utility in understanding ...

ABSTRACT This article aims to analyze the psychometric properties of the Scale of Soledad de Jong Gierveld. The sample consists of 509 Peruvian youth and adults, 371 men and 138 women of Lima, with an average age of 21.42 years. The results show that the descriptive analysis, based on the skewness and kurtosis, provided information for the detection of non-normality of the data. Also, the scale of loneliness evidence adequate reliability (ω = .83). Exploratory factor analysis revealed the existence of a single factor, which was not confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis which indicated that the items to a model of two related factors, the structure has acceptable goodness of fit. Based on the results it is concluded that the loneliness scale has adequate evidence of validity and reliability to assess loneliness in Peruvian sample of young people and adults.
