The aim of study was to determine cell concentration and dry biomass in three species of marine microalgae: Chlorella vulgaris, Nannochloropsis oculata and Tetraselmis striata. The strains were supplied by the Ilo Coastal Laboratory belonging to the Peruvian Institute of the Sea (IMARPE) and then, the microalgae were conditioned to be cultivated in a semi-controlled medium. The phases of the microalgae culture consisted of the cepario, initial, intermediate and massive. The order of maximum cellular concentration (cel/mL) for the microalgae was Nannochloropsis oculata > Chlorella vulgaris > Tetraselmis striata where N. oculata represented 7.63 times higher than T. striata. In the case of biomass, the order corresponded to: C. vulgaris > T. striata > N. oculata, with a 1.32 g difference. It was concluded that the microalgae species Chlorella vulgaris indicated the greatest adv...

The nutritional value during the preparation and conservation of the silage is still of great interest for human and animal consumption. The objective of the study was to demonstrate if the Red abalone (Haliotis rufescens) consumes the silage of Brown seaweed (Lessonia trabeculata) under experimental conditions, on the Morro Sama-Tacna FONDEPES aquaculture Centre, during the years 2017 and 2018. We experimented with the control group (fresh seaweed) and two types of silage, treatments: T1 (silage 0% on dry basis) and T2 (silage 35% on dry basis) for 62 days; determining the content of proteins, fats, carbohydrates and energy in the fresh seaweed, no statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) were observed between the treatments, except for the fat content. Treatments, food acceptance was observed during 10 days and food consumption, sizes and weights were estimated with statistic...

Fishmeal concentrates a high percentage of protein and its monetary cost is relatively high, searching for possible alternatives in macroalgae for improvement purposes is an option. Color is a fundamental characteristic of food, however, drying by the Infrared method as an emerging technology for the study of the macroalga Lessonia trabeculata is little studied. For this reason, the degradation and change of color in the drying process by infrared rays (IR) at different temperatures 40°C, 55°C and 70°C were objectively characterized with the color space scale (CIE-L*a *b*), through the use of a spectrophotometer. Drying was carried out with infrared rays in an infrared radiant heating chamber with a power of 4.5kW, 20.5 Amps. The results indicate that the best color treatment determined was for the macroalga Lessonia trabeculata at a temperature of 40°C with values for: L*= 44....

Obtaining viable Argopecten purpuratus seeds faces challenges, especiallyci the unpredictability of the marine environment and high production costs in hatcheries. However, improving the method of "Broodstock Conditioning In Hatcheries" is key to ensure permanent seed supplies by minimizing the dependence on marine conditions and by maximizing economic viability in hatcheries. In an effort to overcome these barriers, broodstock were conditioned into two different environments: (a) Natural Environment: Natural marine conditions located in Bahía Inglesa, Atacama Region, Chile. (b) Hatchery: Laboratory conditions to achieve gonadal maturation, spawning induction, fertilization and larval development. The purpose of this research was to evaluate how the type of reproductive conditioning affects the reproductive potential and nutritional quality of the progeny. Both methods were successful a...
