An educational program on oral health prevention with a strong component based on playful strategy was developed for 28 children, 7 - 9 year olds from the Andrés Razuri school of San Martin de Porres district. The level of knowledge of the children was evaluated before and after the intervention showing that before no one recognized dental caries as a disease, after receiving the pertinent information, 37 % of them did, and 67 % can recognize 4 factors that generate them. They recognize 3 basic hygienic basic elements which changed from 46.4 % to 88 %, the concept of the moments of tooth brushing was changed so that they associated them with the ingestion of food of 17.9 % to 56 %, the identification of seals as a preventive element varied from 28 % to 74 %, then we conclude that the levels of knowledge were inverted by the efficiency of the proposed strategies, reaffirming that the edu...

The purpose of this study was to evaluate academic stress and its impact in the academic performance of students of dentistry. Methodology: we worked with a probabilistic sample of 186 dental students who completed the semester 2014-1, stratified by year of study: first (n = 37); second (n = 29); third (n = 44); fourth (n = 36) and fifth (n = 40) and single randomly selected. The measurement of academic stress variable was performed through the SISCO inventory validated questionnaire, which assesses: academic stressors, manifestations of stress and coping strategies and obtained an internal consistency of 0.768. The academic performance variable was measured by the average student at the end of the semester 2014-1. For statistical analysis, bivariate and multivariate statistical tests were used. Objective: This research aims to analyze the knowledge, application and assessment about the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of Web 2.0 in education. The Web 2.0 consider the use of applications and websites willing to use the collective intelligence through social software to facilitate the learning processes. Materials and method: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted in a simple random pro-bability sample of 173 students and 109 undergraduate and graduate respectively and 54 teachers. Estas consideran el uso de aplicaciones y páginas web dispuestas a utilizar la inteligencia colectiva a través del software social con el fin de facilitar los procesos de aprendizaje. La presente investigación de tipo correlacional, de corte transversal tuvo como objetivo analizar la relación entre calidad de vida y rendimiento académico según características sociodemográficas de estudiantes de pregrado de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. La población estuvo conformada por estudiantes de odontología regulares que cursaban el semestre académico 2012-1. The aim of this study was to evaluate retrospectively the risk factors for cleft lip and/or palate. It was selected a sample of 45 children with a cleft lip and/or palate and 45 healthy newborns at Mother Child National Teaching San Bartolome Hospital from January 2000 to December 2009 and their respective biological mother to assess retrospectively the conditions under which this was formed during the first trimester of pregnancy. It was found that the prevalence of cleft lip and/or palate was 0,17 % ie, 1,7 per thousand live births. The male gender (RRI 1.7), maternal age (RRI18.4; RRI23,9), family history of cleft lip and/or palate (RRI 3,3), number of previous pregnancies (RRI1 4,6; RRI2 1,1) are risks factors. The history of infections, radiation and medication during the first trimester of pregnancy were not found to be risks factors.

Objective. Determine the effectiveness between radiographic methods of the periodontal ligament and root pulp of the lower third molars, in the estimation of chronological age. Methods. Through a cross-sectional design, using a sample of 347 digital panoramic radiographic images (187 males, 160 females) between 16 and 74 years old. The estimation of chronological age was based on the classification of stages proposed by Olze, with a intra-examiner and inter-examiner agreement was determined by Cohen's Kappa Test. The relationship among the chronological age, the stages of the periodontal ligament and the root pulp were assessed using Spearman and Pearson rank-order correlation. Objetivos: Evaluar la factibilidad de las clases virtuales con el uso de las plataformas disponibles para los alumnos de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Metodología: El estudio fue descriptivo transversal. La población estuvo conformada por estudiantes de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. El tamaño de la muestra se determinó probabilísticamente de una población de 335 estudiantes a un 95 % de confianza, precisión del 5 %, proporción de las variables de interés 50 %, dando un tamaño mínimo necesario de 179 individuos. Objetivo: Evaluar las actitudes hacia el aprendizaje móvil (m-learning) en estudiantes de posgrado de la Facultad de Odontología de la UNMSM para identificar fortalezas y limitaciones y proponer mejoras en la enseñanza a distancia. Métodos: Se realizó un estudio observacional y transversal con 60 estudiantes de diversas especialidades. Se aplicó la escala de actitud hacia el m-learning de Celik (2013) mediante un cuestionario en Google Forms. Los datos se analizaron con SPSS, empleando pruebas no paramétricas para explorar relaciones entre variables. Objective: To determine the influence of motivation and the use of learning strategies in the level of investigative skills in postgraduate students of dentistry of the National University of San Marcos. Materials and method: Fifty-two students were surveyed representing 50% of the total, which belong to the programs of masters and specialties. 58.8% of the students were males and 41.2% of the females were randomly selected. The questionnaire of learning strategies and motivation CEAM and a questionnaire were used to evaluate the investigative skills which was previously validated. Objetivo: Evaluar la usabilidad de una historia clínica electrónica odontopediátrica. Materiales y método: Se aplicó el Cuestionario de Usabilidad de Sistemas Informáticos (CSUQ) conformado por 16 preguntas de tipo cerrado para medir la usabilidad de esta historia. El CSUQ consta de tres dimensiones: calidad de sistema, calidad de información y calidad de interfaz. Resultados: Los ítems fueron valorados del 1 al 7, obteniéndose el promedio más bajo (3.83) en el ítem 7; el promedio más alto (5.33) se obtuvo en el ítem 5, promedio de las tres dimensiones del cuestionario. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between hypo-salivation and corono-radicular caries in older adult patients, which analyzed the physicochemical properties of saliva (flow, pH), the frequency and location of the corono-radicular caries. Was selected a sample of 45 persons, adult patients over 60 years and another 18 to 26 years (control group), from service centers, hospitals and universities. The technique of collection of saliva, consisted of making chewing a piece of paraffin for a period of five minutes and gradually spit in a tank, which allowed to measure the volume and pH salival. We observed the oral higiene and the corono-radicular caries of all tooth surfaces.
