The process of construction and validation of measurement instruments in the field of health is a complex issue that includes various stages, the existing information on this methodological process is scattered and unclear. The objective of this article is to synthesize and propose recommendations based on the scientific literature on an adequate methodological process for the construction and validation of measurement instruments in the field of health. An exhaustive review of the literature was carried out in databases such as Medline, Scielo, Science direct and Google Schoolar between 1994 and 2020, related to the construction and validation of measurement instruments. 62 articles were obtained, after reading and exclusion, 34 articles considered adequate to meet the stated objectives were selected. Based on the information found, the stages for an adequate construction and validation...

Dental needle fracture during anesthetic placement is a rare complication that can cause significant anxiety for both the patient and their family. Complications may range from mild pain, trismus, and dysphagia to injuries involving nerve or vascular structures. We present a case of dental needle fracture in the pterygomandibular space following an inferior alveolar nerve block in a 3-year-old girl. The needle fracture appears to have resulted from the child’s sudden movement during the administration of the dental anesthesia. The needle fragment was located using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), and surgical retrieval was successfully performed 24 hours after the incident under general anesthesia. Dental needle fractures are complications that can generally be prevented with proper precautions. However, it is essential to understand the appropriate actions to take should this rar...

Objective: To investigate the influence of sociodemographic factors and characteristics attributed to the host, substrate and potential microorganisms in risk of early childhood caries on 2-to-5 years-old infants from a rural community of the Peruvian Amazon. Methods: Cross-sectional study in 155 pre-school children between 2-5 years old, from the district of Pichanaki. A clinical examination and questionnaire were carried out. For risk analysis, univariate and multivariate logistic regression models, corrected using the Holm-Bonferroni method and a bootstrapping with 10000 sampling cycles were used. Results: The prevalence of dental caries was 83.3%. Factors associated with dental caries were a history of urinary tract infections during pregnancy (p = 0.005), poor oral hygiene (p = 0.001), sharing utensils with their main caregiver (p = 0.018), and having older siblings with cavitie...
