The study was carried out at Hospital Nacional Guillermo Almenara Irigoyen, on 128 patients infected by the human inmunodefense virus. The aim of the investigation was to study the frecuency, and location of oral lesions, in relation with age and sex, also to establish the relationship between CD4 cells counts with oral lesions detected. The sample were selected in a probabilistic way; the data was recorded in a special designed format. 74 subjects of the sample were male and 57 female. Oral lesions were found in 57,8% and 43,8% of the infected patients were between 26 and 35 ages. Pseudomembranous candidiasis was the most common lesion detected in 21,9% of patients (tongue, soft palate and cheeks), ulcers 14,1% (cheek, tongue and lips), erytematous candidiasis in 10,1% (soft palate), angular queilitis in 10,1% and oral hairy leukoplakia in 7%. Pseudomembranous candidiasis and oral hairy...

This study analysed the hemostatic clinical effect of the tranexamic acid mouthwash against the conventional treatment in patients treated with oral anticoagulants. After suspending the anticoagulant medication for three days, ten surgical procedures were carried out in ten patients(control group), and without modifying or altering the . anticoagulant treatment, 20 procedures were carried out using tranexamic acid in 15 palients(case group). In this last group, before suturing the surgical fleld was irrigated with tranexamic acid solution at 5%. After that, patients of case group were instructed to use 10 ml of the mouthwash for two minutes, tour times a day per seven days. The only statisticaly sígnificative difference (p 0,05) between both groups at the beginning of this research, IOas the level of the anlicoagulation. The average of the INR for case and control group was 2,53 and 1,1...

The tumor necrosis factor (TNF) is an important mediator of the inflammatory reactions; it seems to play a central roll in the pathogenesis of several chronic inflammatory diseases including the periodontitis. It has been demonstrated that different rates exist from TNF alpha in vitro and in vivo between the individuals, so it can be associated with the presence of certain genetic polymorphism. The purpose of this investigation is to study the degree of polymorphism of the gene TNF-alpha (-308G/A) in samples of adult Peruvian patients and analyze the relationship with periodontal processes. For the study 81 blood samples with anticoagulant EDTA of people between 25 and 52 years were collected (47,5 average ± 7,4). 11 of them were people who had severe periodontal processes (average 35,2 ± 2,3). There was a greater frequency of genotype GG (G alele for the gene TNF-alpha-308) of the 82,...

Righty nine samples were analyzed. As control group 25 students aged 20 to 25 years old from the School of Dentistry were selected. We olso studied 44 patients with HIV-AIDS and tuberculosis, 24 patients only with HIV-AIDS, and 10 subjects aged ears old as control group. The average value of salivary proteasa activity in the control group was 0.067 / 18 horas , and we faund that the highest value and the lowest value were 0.084 and 0.045, respectively. In regards to servan proteasa in the 10 subjects used as control (suject.v without HIV-AIDS and tuberculosis), the highest value of proteasa activity was 0.092, the lowest value of proteasa activity was 0.067, and the avarage value of proteasa activity was 0.078118 horas of enzimic work. Tuberculosis and candidiasis evolved leafily by symbiotic way, and there displaced other opportunistic diseases (Kaposi sarcoma), and eve observed progres...
