The study was to evaluate the essential oil of Erythroxylum coca Lam. var. coca (Coca) - from Quillabamba province, Cusco region and determine its antibacterial activity, and elucidate the same chemical composition by Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometry (GC / MS). The plant part used the dried leaves were provided by the National Coca Company ENACO SA, which dealt with a system by steam distillation of water. The essential oil yield was 0.08% v/p and on that physicochemical tests were performed: Miscibility, density and refractive index. In the chemical composition found the following components: Guai-1(5),(11)-diene, t-cadinene, (2E,7R,11R)-3,7,11,15-tetramethyl-2-hexadecan-1 -ol, eudesm-4(14)-en-11-ol, hexahydrofarnesil ketone, hexadecanoic acid, phytol, cis-9-octadecenoic and octadecanoic acid. Simulations that calculate the breakage of a given material allow for estimating the particle size produced by comminution equipment. However, conducting these simulations requires a significant amount of time and incurs high computational costs due to the progressive increase in the number of particles during the breakage events. This challenge has prompted the exploration of alternatives, such as employing impact energies present in simulations with solid particles. This study examines the application of two breakage models to particle speeds, analyzing the correlation between the t10 value obtained from simulations using solid particles and the value obtained when simulations include breakage. Con el objetivo de encontrar diferencias, que nos puedan inducir a error, en las emisiones de metano en alpacas. Se utilizaron 8 alpacas macho, de dos años de edad; los cuales fueron distribuidos al azar en Grupo A (alimento fibroso ofrecido en forma entera, n=4) y el Grupo B (alimento fibroso ofrecido en forma molida n=4). Se evaluaron las emisiones de CH4 en la mañana y en la noche; utilizando un equipo portátil de medición de gases Gasmet DX-4030 Analyser. Para el análisis de los resultados se utilizó una regresión lineal mixta. No se encontraron diferencias estadísticas significativas (p<0.05) en el efecto de las dietas fibrosas sobre la producción de CH4 ni en el momento de evaluación (mañana o noche).

Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) for malaria are restricted to a few biomarkers and antibody-mediated detection. However, the expression of commonly used biomarkers varies geographically and the sensibility of immunodetection can be affected by batch-to-batch differences or limited thermal stability. In this study we aimed to overcome these limitations by identifying a potential biomarker and by developing molecular sensors based on aptamer technology. Using gene expression databases, ribosome profiling analysis, and structural modeling, we find that the High Mobility Group Box 1 protein (HMGB1) of Plasmodium falciparum is highly expressed, structurally stable, and present along all blood-stages of P. falciparum infection.
