Objectives: Identify oral habits of dentistry students that performed clinical practice. Material and method: This study is an observational, descriptive and quasi-experimental, considering 35 students as a sample, with some variables like; healthy oral hygiene habit index, related with, sex, level of education and socioeconomic status. Results: 63% of participants were woman, the high percentage of participants (89%) were clasificated in middle socioecoomic status, while 71% of students had healthy oral hygiene habit index (p=0,03). Conclusions: Students of Universidad Tecnológica Equinoccial that performed clinical practice had good hygiene habits, college life and lifestyles with irregular schedules and extra activities, distorts habits established until that moment.

Objective: Estimated the caries risk of children under 5 years of age in the urban area of the northern sector in Quito, Ecuador. Materials and methods: The sample consisted by 102 pairs; child and parents and / or representatives, who have been accepted a prior informed consent, they were subjected to the management of caries by risk assessment survey (CAMBRA) to determine the risk of presenting caries in their children. We were also done a clinical examination to assess the presence of caries and plaque. The data was compiled in an Excel table and were analyzed in SPSS program. Results: 60.8% of the minor participants belonging to the female gender. CAMBRA survey has a high-risk measure. Meanwhile, the clinical examination determined that the temporal teeth caries index was 4.62 with the presence of a plaque in 86% of the evaluated population. Diabetes is one of the most frequent pathologies with repercussions at the systemic level, irreversible and with high prevalence in the world. Currently in Ecuador, there is an average of 800,000 diabetics, of whom 100,000 are in treatment, according to health authorities and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of Ecuador. This review seeks to update knowledge in the area of health, both in medicine and in dentistry, forcing us to have a review of current data on the relationship between periodontal disease and type II diabetes mellitus, and how These two pathologies can go hand in hand and affect the oral and systemic environment, relating them to the histological changes and chemical mediators in the oral environment that are accentuated by the presence of periodontal disease and diabetes, whether controlled or not.
