To determine the antibacterial effect of the ethanolic extract of green tea (Camellia sinensis) and propolis at a concentration of 10, 20 and 30% at 24 and 48 hours on Streptococcus mutans. Methods. Objective: To evaluate the oral health knowledge of mothers of children under two years of age who attended a health center in the city of Sangolquí, Rumiñahui, province of Pichincha (Ecuador), between February and August 2015. Materials and method: 64 mothers randomly selected, after signing the informed consent and verification of compliance with the established inclusion criteria, were questioned about knowledge, practices and attitudes regarding the oral hygiene of their children and also about their socioeconomic conditions. Results: 31.25% reported an age between 26 to 30 years, 35.94% married civil status, current higher education was the most frequent level in 31.25%. Objectives. Tooth decay, due to their multifactorial etiology, spark constant interest in finding new methods for controlling the causal factors of this illness. Some of the major causes are Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sanguis. Objectives: Identify oral habits of dentistry students that performed clinical practice. Material and method: This study is an observational, descriptive and quasi-experimental, considering 35 students as a sample, with some variables like; healthy oral hygiene habit index, related with, sex, level of education and socioeconomic status. Results: 63% of participants were woman, the high percentage of participants (89%) were clasificated in middle socioecoomic status, while 71% of students had healthy oral hygiene habit index (p=0,03). Conclusions: Students of Universidad Tecnológica Equinoccial that performed clinical practice had good hygiene habits, college life and lifestyles with irregular schedules and extra activities, distorts habits established until that moment.

Periodontal plastic surgery is an alternative to cover root surfaces exposed by gingival recession. This technique restores aesthetics and maintains the fully functional dentition for the life of the patient. The aim of this review was to present, through a narrative review, the efficacy of periodontal surgery with the use of connective tissue grafts in the treatment of Miller class I and II gingival recession. Three hundred sixty-four articles were obtained from the PubMed database search between the years 2015 and 2022. Objectives: An in vitro study which was assessed by testing the appropriate microfiltration protocol using a conventional ionomer cement with sandwich technique in Black’s cavities class I. Methods: 60 human premolars, which underwent standardized cavities. Ecuador has been considered an endemic zone of fluorosis, triggering aesthetic and functional dental alterations. Fluorosis appears as opaque spots that follow a horizontal pattern in its early phase and brown spots and loss of structure in an advanced stage. In this article we present the case of a young patient, diagnosed with dental fluorosis grade three of Thylstup-Fejerskov (TF) index, treated with 40% hydrogen peroxide bleaching, followed by 35% peroxide carbamide home whitening for 30 minutes daily, during 7 days. The combination of whitening procedures was ideal to mimic the mottling characteristic of dental fluorosis, thus improving the aesthetics of the patient and guaranteeing the success of the present case.
