Banking correspondents are a channel through which third parties operate on behalf of a bank, under a contract authorising the provision of some banking services. This model has been implemented extensively in developing countries, as a channel to increase financial inclusion by bringing financial products and services closer to marginalised populations. However, there is a lack of studies on the criteria employed by banks when selecting retailers to turn into banking correspondents (BC), in turn preventing the channel from offering a service portfolio adequate to the capacities of the retailers providing this kind of services, affecting the profitability and sustainability of the channel. The current research parted from the agency theory, which allowed to understand the relationship between the parties involved in the delivery of BC services, seeking to boost financial inclusion in Col...

The study evaluated the impact of different environmental enrichment strategies on the performance and welfare of commercially raised broilers. The research, conducted in Paraná, Brazil, involved 690 birds allocated to three types of environments: control, with a low wall, and with a perch. The performance of the birds was monitored through indicators such as feed conversion, live weight (plucked and eviscerated), and cut yields (wing, thigh, drumstick, breast, and back weight). There were no significant differences in feed conversion and yields between the environments, except for wing weight, which was higher in environments with a perch for males. Females raised in an environment with a low wall showed higher live and eviscerated weight, while thigh weight was lower in environments with a perch. Welfare variables, such as Latency to Lie and Fluctuating Asymmetry, showed no significan...

Over time the electric market has been growing with the insertion of several sources, in addition to storage devices, given this panorama, the question arises of how to dispatch the energy generated to meet the demand in a more economical and efficient way. This work presents the implementation of a mathematical model of mixed integer nonlinear programming for the problem of Alternating Current Optimal Power Flow (ACOPF) using the GAMS software. In order to solve the problem of allocation and optimal operation of storage devices in microgrids, as well as the optimal cycle of loading and unloading of this devices in a way to minimize system operational costs. The model observes grid constraints, such as the voltage profile within permissible limits, as well as the intermittency of renewable sources based on wind and solar energy, represented by variable dispatches during the operation. To...

Nowadays, one of the most critical problems in Peru is crime and citizen insecurity. Part of this problem is due to a precarious assignment of security agents in geographic strategical zones at the right time. Furthermore, there is a lack of knowledge by the part of community members about certain existing patterns in crime. A large amount of data with geographic information, type of crime, time and other more meaningful variables is available to use. For this reason, the present research project is about a methodology using optimization models, machine learning and forecasting techniques to reduce these crime rates through the development of clusters that will allow us to identify the areas with the greatest confluence of crimes. A predictive spatial time model fed with data in real time will map the areas of high risk at a certain future point in the time. This model will be linked to ...

The population dynamics of organisms are strongly influenced by life-history strategies that result from the optimal allocation of energy to vital functions such as growth, reproduction, and survival. These strategies, characterized by phenotypic traits, emerge as evolutionary adaptations to specific ecological conditions and define functional trade-offs relevant facing biotic and abiotic pressures. The aim of this study is to examine the link between life history and population dynamics from a bioenergetic perspective, articulating individual and population-level processes through mathematical models that capture adaptive decisions in simulated environments described in terms of constant, decreasing, and periodic resource availability over time. Using a discrete-time mathematical model with two state variables, internal energy and survival probability, energy allocation toward reproduct...

The problem of interference in wireless communications was addressed in the U.S. by a command and control system instituted nearly eight decades ago. This system is currently applied in most countries that allow private investment inwireless communications. A brief analysis of how this system emerged in the U.S. and how it operates reveals its gross inefficiencies. An alternative approach based on property rights would be efficient not only in the allocation off requencies to its highest value use, but also in solving interference disputes. The cases of Guatemala and El Salvador, two adopters of this approach, illustrate the benefits of the latter system. Between 1997 and 2001, the annual growth rate of mobile telephony traffic in these two countries more than doubled the average for Latin America and was over 12 times that of Peru. Latin Americans may benefit substantially by abandoning...

The aim of this study was to determine the importance of stray dogs by the local governments of Metropolitan Lima and to identify the proposed control plans. The descriptive study involved 32 of the 43 municipalities of Metropolitan Lima that agreed to participate. The survey model carried out by the OIE regarding the control of dog population was used. In general, 90.6% (29) considered stray dogs a problem in their district, uncontrolled reproduction being the most serious problem. In addition, 58.6% (17) indicated that the municipality did not have a plan to address the problem, while 31% (9) had a plan and 10.4% (3) did not but were carrying out activities to address it. Surgical methods (spaying and neutering) were the most mentioned by the authorities to try to control the stray dog population, while euthanasia was only mentioned for cases of terminal illness or aggressiveness. Rega...

The Vehicle Routing Problem considers the design of sets of minimal cost routes, from an originated point knowned as deposit to an ended point. In this problematic situation, a key element in delivery systems is the sequencing of transport units, determined by the requirement of customers. The aim of this article is to present a new method of solving the problem of allocation of routing companies with the need to distribute products, through new models that use different algorithms. The model designed from the analysis of a set of metaheuristics, develop viable options to solve the daily problem of how to allocate and distribute products, from the company to customers, with efficiently and effectively ways.
