This is a quantitative type research with a pre experimental design. It was carried out by) the students from the Linguistics and English career and the Language Institute of the Universidad Peruana Unión, in order to determine the effectiveness of the program "Reading English Adapted Digests" (R.E.A.D.) in the acquisition of the English Language. The analysis showed that there are significant differences in favor of the study groups of Linguistics and English career. The results allow us to validate the program and at the same time recommend it as a very important part in the teaching-learning process.

Background: Reading fluency is the ability to read fast, accurate and with proper expression as well as comprehending what is read. This ability is expected to be a consolidated in High School. Main goal: The aim of this research is to show the results obtained when a Reading fluency scale designed ad hoc that includes aspects related to accuracy and prosodic was applied. In the following pages, we propose to approach, in part, the poetic world of the book Trilce (1922), by César Vallejo. We will concentrate on the exegesis of two poems of the aforementioned volume: «II» and «V», which are exemplary expressions of Vallejo's great vision of temporality and the love relationship. The title of the article is intended to emphasize the need to read with freedom, which is why we have established a special relationship between Trilce and Rayuela, since we understand that these two books demand an active, participatory, and creative reader.

This article pretends to be an approach to an academic debate between two scenarios that have risen amongst reading as we know it. With the integration of technological devices as iPads, Kindles, laptops, etc. the objectives, experiences and actors that participate in the reading process are inevitable affected, re-configuring the concept. This is why it is worth to distinguish both scenarios and generate a conversation that lead us to integrate both worlds and make reading a rewarding experience that’s integrated to digital life.

This article offers a brief account of Fernando Fuenzalida’s intelectual trajectory. His anthropological research can be tracked along several stages that show a series of transformations in society, as well as in the subject of analysis, and interpretation, and in his approach to the subject-matter. Throughout four decades he switches from an ethnographic approach centered on culture to approaches that give more importance to political and social transformation. In recent years he returns to global and cultural topics.

The purpose of this work was to analyze the working memory like a cognitive model envolved in lexical tasks and individual differentiation on capacity of Reading. The subjects were 163 students of public and particular schools. In this study we elaborated a new “reading span test” agreement with suggestions from Daneman and Carpenter (1980), adapted to children students. That instrument was correlated with the subtest of Number from WISC, inverted form. The validity assessment between both tests was made with Spearman’s coefficient of correlation. The consequence of that assessment showed rRHO = 0,47; it should prove both tests contain the function of processing (or computation) proper of the working memorysystem. Then, that “reading span test” is an adequate instrument to measure individual differences about capacity of reading only in similar subjects like those we studied.

Inference is viewed as a fundamental operation in reading. First, sornebasic notions are defined within a conceptual framework guiding thispaper. In the second place, a set of cases are shown to explain the variedroles inference plays in reading. Thirdly, a main hypothesis drawn from theprevious steps considered are described. Given, on the one hand, the poor results obtained by Peruvian children in the national and international reading assessments. And on the other hand, the increased investment intechnology for schools in the country, this study aimed to develop and test an online tool to improve reading comprehension. In order to do this, the reading comprehension strategies and vocabulary activities from the research-based digital environment ICON were adapted to design the platform LEO.
