In the issue that launches a new design and diversifies its sections, allpanchis dedicates the central theme to the problem of water and its management. It is not the first time that the magazine addresses this issue. Doing it again, but this time from the perspective of management, is a way of continuing with the commitment that characterizes our editorial line: seeking alternatives for the future of the Andes.

El libro y la lectura han logrado ingresar en las agendas gubernamentales. Y no podía ser de otra manera, pues la actual llamada sociedad del conocimiento exige nuevas destrezas para enfrentar y solucionar problemas inéditos de manera eficaz. El contexto de la globalización, además de propiciar el intercambio de mercancías y flujos económicos, estimula una acelerada transmisión del concimiento.

Allpanchis reaches its 50th issue and offers its readers a group of collaborations gathered under the title Symbols, rituals and identities. The title evokes a very important issue for the magazine and for the Instituto de Pastoral Andina. The publication of studies and research advances on the symbolic world in the Andes has been a constant in the almost three decades of Allpanchis. On this occasion we have brought together six works that return to the subject from different approaches and disciplines: anthropology, history, theology, linguistics and literary criticism.

In this issue of Allpanchis we present a set of collaborations that serve as a stimulus to address, from the Andean region, one of the most dramatic and profound phenomena of the contemporary world: the economic, social, political and cultural exclusion of broad swaths of the population. Gathered practically spontaneously, each of these collaborations contributes elements of understanding of a highly complex phenomenon.

In this issue of Allpanchis we have brought together a set of collaborations around the problem of citizenship of Andean populations and communities. This old problem has been receiving renewed attention in academic circles. It is no coincidence for them that the four works that we present are part of individual university theses. We are also witnessing an incipient social and political debate, driven basically by groups and institutions of civil society in a context in which citizenship seems to be the symbolic continent where the fight against social exclusion and the search for national integration take place.
