The goal of this study was to attempt to create a more effective treatment model by leveraging the knowledge and skill sets of those who work most closely with these families in crisis. The participants, who consisted of the direct care staff of the Latino Domestic Violence Program (LDVP) in Philadelphia, were interviewed individually, and the data was analyzed in accordance with grounded theory methodology. The participants' responses served to bring to the fore a number of important issues. The participants helped identify two main elements that needed to be part of an ideal program. 1: The program must be equipped to address all the biopsychosocial needs experienced by the family (financial, occupational, educational and mental health needs). Undocumented and non-English speaking clients’ needs must be also considered when developing a program for Latino families. 2: We should avoid...

After seven years of experience and in the context of a substantial regime change, it is necessary to rethink the interventions of the PAR (Repopulation Support Program). This rethinking is part of larger changes regarding the ways that the State has to relate to civil society; changes that modify the very role and way of functioning of the State, and in particular of PROMUDEH, its programs and its decentralized organisms.

In Peru, the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on various dimensions of human and national development. While it is true that children have not been affected in terms of mortality, there is evidence of a negative impact on their development in the short and long term. In this sense, in Peru, timely and quality care through access to the integrated package of services of the Ministry of Health was severely affected, reducing its coverage and generating risk scenarios for the physical, emotional and mental development of children in the future. In this context, the State promoted temporary interventions through Emergency Decree 095-2020, includin interventions aimed at early childhood development through the National Program of Direct Support to the Poorest “JUNTOS”. This article aims to examine the implementation of these interventions by “JUNTOS”, analyze the challenges and res...

This article is focused on the analysis of the children and adolescents protection policies in Uruguay. Specifically, on three programs that are aimed at having a focused intervention mode by territorialization, inter-institutionalism and proximity. It will analyze the tensions and challenges of these programs, taking into account whether they generate real transformations in life trajectories or whether they are processes of individualization of poverty. Uruguay’s State has ratified the Convention on the rights of the children and at a nation level is framed under the code of childhood and adolescence, because of this reason the category should be a priority of the political agenda. Considering this, do these children and adolescents protection policies protect them,or is this just a type of tutoring?

The problem of informality and the formation of precarious settlements due to the development of urbanization, has been the object of the implementation of a set of social and urban policies that seek to alleviate the conflictive processes of increasing exclusion resulting from neoliberal policies. The influence between social vulnerability and emotional states has been researched, and results have demonstrated that it may have negative consequences especially for young population. In addition to this, different studies conclude that emotional intelligence may play an important part in reducing the risk factors of social vulnerability. The main objective of this paper is to create a program to develop emotional abilities in children between 6 and 12 years old, that live in risk of social exclusion and social vulnerability. This program is carried our throughout 13 sessions of 90 minutes each. The main contents that are included in the program are the key components of Emotional Intelligence proposed in the theoretical model of Mayer and Salovey: perception and expression of emotions, emotional facilitation, understanding and analyzing emotions, and regulation of emotions. There are programs for men who exert violence in couple relations with women, in the Anglo-Saxon and Scandinavian world (United States, Canada, Sweden, Australia) since more than thirty years ago and eighteen years ago in the Hispanic world ( Argentina, Mexico). In the present research, we propose a multidimensional model with a gender perspective which includes cognitive, behavioral, emotional and historical dimensions of violent behavior, and incorporates different theoretical references. This causes the coordination of this problem -men who exert violence- and the possibilities of an intervention that pay completely attention to those components. This model supports with a gender perspective the importance of working psychoeducational strategies which permit that HEV assume the responsibility about the violence, critical consciousness about the use o...

The present article is an international review or state of the art that analyzed more than seventy texts of studies and interventions of information and communication technologies for development and social change with the objective of identifying tendencies, in particular those that had the specific purpose of youth development. In the results of this systematization stands out the discussions around the concept of development, the predominance of works in marginalized communities, and the need to orient this field towards situated users and problems, as is the case of young people, a topic that has been less attended.

Low performance in Mathematics I at the Amazonian State University (UEA) highlighted the need to implement technological solutions to optimize learning. The study aimed to evaluate the impact of educational software on the academic performance of first-semester students. Using a quasi-experimental design, a total of 121 participants were divided into an experimental group (EG) with 29 students and a control group (CG) with 31 students, which were used without modifications. Participants were assessed through questionnaires and written tests, alongside an initial interview with the program director. The analysis methods included Fisher-Snedecor and t-Student tests to compare the groups. The results showed that both groups had homogeneous levels in the initial Pretest (mean scores of 7.4140 and 7.0323, respectively), ensuring equitable conditions before the intervention. At the end of the ...

This article aimed to determine the effectiveness of the “Mi Sol” program in the prevention of child sexual abuse (ASI, in spanish) through the development of knowledge and prevention skills about it. The study corresponds to a quasi-experimental design, carried out on a group of 28 primary level students from a state educational institution in the city of Juliaca, Perú. Likewise, there was the participation of a control group made up of 20 students. The program called “Mi Sol” developed by UNICEF-Chile was applied, and to test its effectiveness, a questionnaire of knowledge about ASI and prevention skills was applied, which proved to be valid and reliable. The results regarding the variable “Knowledge about ASI” before the intervention showed that the mean score was 22.89 and then 28.32 (p = .009); however, the control group — before the intervention — yielded a result ...
