Nowadays, some of the most popular tools for parallel programming are Message Passing Interface and Open Multi-Processing. It is of interest to compare these tools in solving the same kind of problems, because of the use of different approaches to inter-task communication. This work attempts to contribute to this goal by running trials in a centralized shared memory architecture in the case of problems with an entirely parallel solution. The selected case study was the parallel computation of Mandelbrot set. Trials were conducted for different iteration limits, processors amount, and C++ implementation variants. The results show better performance in the case of Open Multi-Processing.

In the present article, I propose some initial topics for the typological-comparative study of semantic parallelism, which also serve as an analytical axis to study semantic parallelism in traditional kakataibo chants. These basic topics are the structure of the cotext, lexical and grammatical type of parallel units, type of semantic relations between parallel units, number of parallel units per pair of lines, and associated phenomena such as recurrent or fixed pairing and diphrasism. Following this initial proposal, I postulate that the cotext in Kakataibo semantic parallelism is a repeated morphosyntactic structure that does not exhibit ellipsis or increasing, the number of parallel units can be one to three slots and one pair is more productive, parallel units are related by semantic fields such as kinship terms and colors. Algorithm k-means is useful for grouping operations; however, when is applied to large amounts of data, its computational cost is high. This research propose an optimization of k-means algorithm by using parallelization techniques and synchronization, which is applied to image segmentation. In the results obtained, the parallel k-means algorithm, improvement 50% to the algorithm sequential k-means.

This paper presents the automated parallel noncontact manipulation of glass beads ranging from 30 up to 300 μm in size under water. Non-contact micromanipulation is performed by generating controllable laser-induced thermocapillary flows that are capable of dragging the beads. Automated manipulation process is achieved with visual servoing in order to accurately manipulate the beads in a parallel and high-speed manner. Image correlation allowed to detect the bead positions and to provide these positions to a mirror scanner that addressed the IR laser beam at a certain position from the bead. By scanning the laser beam from one bead to another, automated parallel manipulation of beads at speeds in the range of mm·s-1 was demonstrated.

Technological advances have allowed to collect and store large volumes of data over the years. Besides, it is significant that today's applications have high performance and can analyze these large datasets effectively. Today, it remains a challenge for data mining to make its algorithms and applications equally efficient in the need of increasing data size and dimensionality [1]. To achieve this goal, many applications rely on parallelism, because it is an area that allows the reduction of cost depending on the execution time of the algorithms because it takes advantage of the characteristics of current computer architectures to run several processes concurrently [2]. This paper proposes a parallel version of the FuzzyPred algorithm based on the amount of data that can be processed within each of the processing threads, synchronously and independently.

This study presents the design exploration and kinematic validation of a transtibial prosthesis based on a 2SPU-RU parallel mechanism. The prototype is currently at Technology Readiness Level 3 (TRL 3), indicating an early-stage concept that has been evaluated under controlled conditions. The mechanism replicates dorsiflexion–plantarflexion, inversion–eversion, and abduction–adduction, corresponding to ankle motion in the sagittal, frontal, and transverse anatomic planes. The system integrates electric actuators and an ESP32 DevKit V1 microcontroller to control joint movements. This article shows how corruption today manifests itself through networks of interests that infiltrate the Public Administration. These networks generate a system parallel to the formally recognized one that has its own actors and rules of the game. Proof of this are the recent cases involving high officials of the justice system and the construction company Odebrecht. To confront these forms of corruption, it will be necessary to understand the complexity of its diverse dynamics.

The principle of exhaustion of rights is one of the most discussed matters in intellectual property law, forming part of a debate that has not culminated in a global agreement. However, its application is present in all countries and the evaluation of its scope has deserved the attention of the doctrine and the courts of justice of the world. This work focuses on the field of trademarks and tries to show a gene ral perspective on the exhaustion of the right in its presence in international trade, through parallel imports. Likewise, it includes some of the economic reasons that support the existence or restriction of parallel imports, as well as an analysis of their regulation in international trade law.

Purpose: Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer (HBOC) syndrome is responsible for ~5–10% of all diagnosed breast and ovarian cancers. Breast cancer is the most common malignancy and the leading cause of cancer-related mortality among women in Latin America (LA). The main objective of this study was to develop a comprehensive understanding of the genomic epidemiology of HBOC throughout the establishment of The Latin American consortium for HBOC-LACAM, consisting of specialists from 5 countries in LA and the description of the genomic results from the first phase of the study. Sin embargo, los avances recientes en tecnología ahora permiten predicciones de respuesta ante terremotos más precisas a través de modelos de alta fidelidad y gemelos digitales. Three sets of geoglyphs present in the Paracas and Nasca desert areas are associated with the Andean myth of the Fox in the Sky. A discoursive parallelism has been identified between the geoglyphs and the myth, establishing the geoglyphs as graphycally rendering scenes of the myth in two cases. In the third case, the characters are present but dispersed. The myth narrates the trip of the two main characters, the Fox and the Condor to the skies. They are later joined by the Parrot. The result of the mythical actions is the apparition of vegetable species on Earth, especially the oca. These edibles are also delineated on the Nasca Plains. These geoglyphic sets have been produced, in different styles in the places mentioned, in succesive periods. The myth, found from the Peruvian Central Andes to the Northern areas of Argentina and Chile, is still narrated today.

La presente investigación tiene como objetivo evaluar la efectividad del aceite de linaza como preservante natural en elementos estructurales fabricados con madera Tornillo. De manera que pueda utilizarse como una alternativa sostenible para el medio ambiente. Por ello, se realizaron ensayos de densidad básica, contenido de humedad, dureza, flexión y compresión paralela al grano a 3 tipos de muestras: muestras de madera natural sin tratamiento, muestras tratadas con aceite de linaza y muestras tratadas con preservante químico. Los resultados fueron comparados con la Norma E.010 y los resultados obtenidos en estudios previos. El presente informe busca analizar la legalidad de los pactos paralelos celebrados por las distribuidoras eléctricas, en el contexto de la suscripción de contratos bilaterales para la adquisición de energía para abastecer a la demanda regulada. La controversia principal se centra en dilucidar si los montos pactados en contratos paralelos contravienen al incentivo incorporado en el artículo 29 de la Ley N 28832 y el TUO de la Norma Precios a Nivel Generación y Mecanismo de Compensación entre Usuarios.
