Potential risks associated with the cuttings re-injection process as an alternative method for drilling wastes disposal were identi- fied and assessed in two offshore platforms located at the southwest of the Campeche Sonda in Mexico. Risks were evaluated using the HAZOP methodology, to identifying hazards in 11 nodes. In addition, deviations in the process were analyzed, and each risk analyzed was categorized as tolerable or non-tolerable and providing some recommendations. Consequences derived from accidental spills of slurry and/or cuttings were analyzed using the mathematical model YAXUM 3D to simulate the pollu- tants dispersion in seawater in three different climatic periods. The results of the consequences analysis shows that even the concentrations in the discharge point exceeded the recommended criteria for protection of the marine life and seawater quality, the spill is rapidly...

Communication for development (CfD) is a discipline that seeks to promote social change through the strategic use of media and participatory dialogue. However, there is a paucity of studies that systematically and critically analyze the social processes underlying CfD interventions and their impact on the social significance of beneficiary communities. This article presents a narrative review of the literature on CfD, with the aim of identifying the main theoretical and methodological approaches that have addressed this topic, as well as the main limitations and challenges facing research in this field. Thirty-five articles published between 2018 and 2023 were analyzed, selected through a search in the Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, Redalyc and Latindex databases. The results show that most of the studies adopt a qualitative and participatory perspective, focused on the analysis of spec...

The design and optimization of space, as well as visual merchandising, are techniques that impact the sale new concepts such as omnicanality and buying experience are fed by data analytics in order to describe the commercial mode; and new qualitative sources of information, among them color theory, specially help to understand and predict the impact of future decisions on the point of sale. This paper describes the utility of image processing techniques to innovate the retail market in the effort to extract useful information from advertising pieces frequently used in this sector.

Pressure control during drilling of oil wells can be one of the most complex and dangerous processes at the exploration stage. This study proposes the design and validation of the performance of the Internal Model Controllers (IMC and SIMC) to control the pressure in drilling of oil wells based on the Manage Pressure Drilling (MPD) technique. The MPD adds a control valve in the drilling system to obtain another manipulation variable at the bottom of the well. In the first part of this work, a linear mathematical model of the process was obtained, based on the mechanics of the fluids. The dynamic process presented an integrating element, in addition, it is considered the addition of a time interval between the action of the valve and the response of the variation of the pressure in the bottom of the well. In the second part, the improved IMC driver was designed to compensate the effect of...

This article addresses the issue of corruption and, although it does not seek to cover all aspects of the issue, it does aim to contribute to the creation of a national policy that is aligned with recent international anti-corruption regulations. This study presents data on the level of corruption worldwide, detailing how it has progressed during globalization, and analyzing its impact on democracy, particularly in Latin America. It also assesses the role of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and the perspective of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in fighting corruption. The conclusion drawn by the author is that we need a collaborative global approach to understand and combat corruption from all angles.

Well-being is a concept that has aroused multidisciplinary interest. Particularly in studies about family caregivers of older adults there has been the need to analyze this attribute facing the imminent increase of family caregivers. The goal of this paper is to describe the design process, the exploratory and confirmatory validation, as well as the usefulness of the current Scale of Subjective Well-Being of Family Caregivers for Older Adults - EBEMS/ CFAM. Results are shown in a sequence, from qualitative analysis, to factor analysis, Rasch modeling and structural equations in four samples of study that, taken together, confirm the validity and reliability of the scale.

The purpose of the research was to identify the predominant dimension of organizational learning that influences the labor well-being of secondary education teachers -Lima (Peru). The research presented the quantitative approach, basic-substantive type, non-experimental design of cross-sectional, correlational-causal. The sample consisted of 200 teachers chosen by simple random probability sampling, to whom the organizational learning and work well-being surveys validated by Cronbach's Alpha (0.945 and 0.858, respectively) were applied. The results were obtained by means of the Nagelkerke R squared model, generating the value of 0.727 that verified that the estimated model was adequate. Likewise, the results of the study were processed by statistical non-parametric logistic regression. It was concluded that organizational learning influenced job well-being; Likewise, it was determined th...

The purpose of this article is to analyze the power of communicative interaction in virtual communities, in the case of the virtual community of Facebook Ni Una Menos: Movilización Nacional Ya, from the paradigm of communication for social change. In order to achieve this objective, a qualitative methodology was applied, which consisted of field work composed of in-depth interviews with 15 members of the Facebook group, as well as the analysis of virtual contents. As a result of the analysis, it was possible to observe how the characteristics of the group, created for activism, led to the sensitive disclosure of testimonies on the web portal, around which a virtual community of support was articulated. In conclusion, this analysis evidenced the power of virtual communicative interaction for the process of individual and collective empowerment of vulnerable communities, such as wome...

Research shows that consumption correlates with the experience of subjective well-being. However, there is little literature on this phenomenon among young people. This exploratory study aims to know how university students perceive that consumption and brands intervene on subjective well-being and identify the elements they consider in their consumption behaviors aimed at obtaining well-being. A qualitative methodology of phenomenological design was used, with university students from the city of Lima. The analysis followed a process of descriptive coding. The experience of consumption and well-being reveals itself as a phenomenon relative to each person, in particular their sense of need and value framework about material goods, factors that seem to be modulated by their family environment. Young people find in purchase practices and brands a conduit to meet their social needs, specifi...

The purpose of the present study was to construct a brief scale of psychological well-being in the university context, in a preliminary phase. For this purpose, 417 students from the faculty of education of a public university in Lima, of both sexes, aged between 17 and 35 years (M = 23, S.D. = 1.86), participated in the study. We worked with the topics of Mental Health (MH) and Family and Interpersonal Relations (FR). The method was instrumental, with a scale of 35 items and seven components, approved by five experts through Aiken's V statistic, with three evaluation criteria (V = .83, 1.00). The items went through different analysis processes in parameter estimations with the two-logistic parameter model (2LP) of the Item Response Theory (IRT), in contrast with indicators of the Classical Test Theory (CTT), from the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and internal consistency measures. ...

This paper highlighted the discussion about the environmental matters over the criminal proceeding. The author makes a presentation of the compared environmental criminal codifications; especially he focuses in the German regulation from which he rescues some aspects. He says that in an international level, as well as the compared law and the national law it legitimates the concept of environmental justice access. It does not forbidden that the environmental criminal law is a new area in the national criminal regulation, as well as it must been questioned how the criminal procedure code will contribute with the environmental criminal policy purpose. Likewise, it made a reference regarding the environmental criminal proceeding elements in some countries in the region. Over the same topic it been said that the European development of the environmental criminal law has focused in the ...

The new socio-cultural scenario produced by immigration in schools implies a complex process of psychosocial adjustment. National students must also face diverse and new challenges as a result of immigration, which are linked to the perception and management of cultural differences. This paper aims to identify acculturative profiles in a sample (N = 426) of Chilean secondary school students. Cluster analysis allowed us to find a solution of three acculturative profiles (Tolerant Individualist, Undifferentiated Individualist and Undifferentiated Ethnocentric). Results show that these profiles differ in their levels of Affective Prejudice, Cultural Self-efficacy, and Well-being. These findings stress the importance of promoting social environments which could improve positive intergroup contact to enable the development of intercultural competence from early stages of life.
