Schizophrenia is a complex and heterogeneous mental disorder. This article presents an updated review of the main pharmacological and psychosocial recommendations for the management of adult patients withschizophrenia in a level III-2 healthcare facility in Peru. Non-systematic review of the literature recorded on PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The management of schizophrenia in adults requires a pharmacological approach with antipsychotics, which can be administered through oral, rapid-acting or long-acting parenteral routes. Before starting and during the treatment, periodic baseline examinations are recommended. The use of scales also allows the evaluation of antipsychotic response. Regular assessment of adverse/secondary events, such as extrapyramidal symptoms, is recommended. In treatment-resistant schizophrenia, the use of cloza...

Rising electricity prices, concerns about climate change, independence and energy security drive the shift from the global lighting market to more energy-efficient light sources. Lighting, according to estimates by the International Energy Agency (IEA), accounts for almost 20% of the world's electricity consumption. In Peru, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mines, approximately 35% of primary energy (after processing and / or discounting losses) is destined to electricity generation, which presents important consumption in lighting: Residential Sector 15 % to 30%, Commercial sector approx. 33%, Public sector approx. 24% and industrial sector 10% to 15%. Given these important levels of consumption in lighting systems, transverse use in all sectors, the lack of a comprehensive regulatory policy framework, as well as the need to determine and establish energy efficiency alternatives,...

The dynamics of science and technology are the primary elements of the sustainable development of society in all areas. In the educational context, they have given rise to new forms of flexible, open and free or low-cost learning, such as MOOC (Massive Open Online Courses) that, supported by emerging technologies, have a social effect and contribute to the democratization of knowledge. In this sense, the main objective of this work is to identify the implications (limitations and scope) of MOOCs for the development of an inclusive education supported by emerging technologies and their impact on society, taking into account the main factors that generate it and develop, from the STS (Science, Technology and Society) vision, through the application of historical-logical, analysis and synthesis methods and finally generalization-abstraction, taking primary and secondary bibliographic source...

Following the implementation of the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP), Ecuadorian criminal law has shifted toward a rights-based model in which punishment is conceived not only as a sanction but also as an instrument for rehabilitation, in accordance with the constitutional principles of human dignity, defense, and due process. The study aims to analyze the right to social reintegration from a constitutional perspective, incorporating the contributions of legal neuroscience as an innovative approach. The research was conducted using a mixed approach. At the qualitative level, deductive, synthetic, and exegetical methods were applied to analyze Ecuadorian legislation, especially Article 201 of the Constitution, and its relationship with neuroscientific postulates. In the quantitative component, a survey was administered to 381 lawyers in private practice in Ecuador, selected from...

In recent decades, disciplinary studies on political science in Latin America have expanded rapidly. However, national case studies still predominate, and comparative analyses have only begun to emerge. The Peruvian case has received little attention in this literature and is rarely included in comparative studies, despite the discipline undergoing significant transformations in recent decades in this country. This article aims to fill this gap by providing an overview of the development and current state of political science in Peru from a comparative perspective, to situate it more precisely on the Latin American map while highlighting its particularities and challenges. After reviewing existing findings and offering a critical balance of prior research focused on political science in Peru, the article situates the case comparatively, exploring similarities and differences with other c...

The category of welfare regime has been applied in critical contributions to the study of protection schemes in Latin American countries. This article reviews early debates in which this category was employed in the European context, and the transition to its application by Latin American researchers to study the cases of their own countries. The manner in which the perspective of welfare regimes and related conceptual tools were adapted to propose regional and local analyses of Latin America is also discussed. Starting with an analysis of how the Argentine case was understood, the approaches that characterized the regimes of the region as hybrid, incomplete, or embryonic are then analyzed and some possible vectors for a critical update are proposed. The theoretical review takes into account the considerable existing bibliography on Latin American welfare regimes.

In 2014, through Ruling No. 00139-2013-PA/TC, the Constitutional Court (hereinafter, Court) established a constitutional precedent whereby gender is animmutable element and, consequently, it is not possible to request any amendment of data in identity documents. In addition, the Court based its reasoning on the idea that any alteration of identity following that criterion should be construed as a “disorder and/or pathology”. In other words, for this Court (Urviola Hani, Vergara Gotelli, Calle Hayen and Alvarez Miranda, judges who voted in the majority), transsexual persons were “disturbed or sick”. However, in a landmark decision for transgender persons in Peru, the current Court (Miranda Canales, Ledesma Narváez, Ramos Nuñez and Espinosa-Saldaña Barrera, judges who voted in the majority) issued Ruling No. 06040-2015-PA/TC, by which...

Background: university life is defined by the multiple demands that students face. Exams are events of great concern that can trigger harmful stress responses. The perception of self-efficacy to achieve goals has a modulating effect on cognitive, emotional and behavioral processes. Objective: to analyze the relationship and influence between stress coping self-efficacy, cognitive test anxiety and physical and psychoemotional stress symptomatology in university students in a pandemic context. Method: cross-sectional descriptive-correlational design. 314 university students participated (M = 23, SD = 6.05). Results: significant correlations were found between the variables examined. The proposed model showed that stress coping self-efficacy (efficacy and outcome) and cognitive test anxiety explain 39% physical and psychoemotional stress symptomatology variance. Conclusions: students presen...

This paper reflects on the gender perspective, historicization and decolonization as part of a theoretical-methodological proposal, to understand the gender systems that support masculinities and models of being a man, linked to reproduction and contemporary indigenous survival in Mexico. It constitutes a first effort of reflective analysis, on how to approach these ethnicized and gendered realities, specifically on masculinities and being a man. To do this, we start by discussing the contributions of some gender studies of men and masculinities, which do not constitute an exhaustive and updated review, but only an approximation to the growing knowledge base, to support the methodological proposal with which it seeks to understand the patriarchal, heterosexist and colonizing constraints on men and women of indigenous peoples. In this work, it is argued that re-readings of these realities...
