This article describes the construction and validation of the “Scale of Social Problems in Chile”. The scale was developed considering the main social issues at a national and municipal level. The instrument was validated using quantitative methodology, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The participants were 456 residents of the Valparaíso municipality, Chile. Cases were selected using quota sampling to reflect the demographic composition of the region in terms of the sex and age groups found in the municipality. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) V24.0, while confirmatory factor analysis was performed with R console and the Rcmdr interface. These analyses made it possible to establish that the factor structure of the scale differentiates national problems from local ones.

The social programs to combat poverty have been under permanent observation both by the beneficiaries of these programs and by the criticism they received for the political use that was given to them. Two major issues aroused interest in the study of these programs. First, because, despite the investment from the public treasury and the contributions from international cooperation for the strategy to combat poverty, the problems that persisted showed the poor focus of the investment, the loss of objectives, the leaking of aid and the dispersion of the programs, in addition to the serious problems of administration of the resources. Second, because reelectionist political campaigns were associated with the intensification and expansion of food support for urban and rural populations.

The research addresses the problem of violence against women. To do this, it defines genderbased violence in its various manifestations, details the evolution of international and national regulations on this matter and analyzes the official statistics provided by the competent state institutions. Later, it explains and sustains that the penal system does not resolve social conflicts, to later affirm and sustain that criminality is produced by the design of the social structure, and is learned in social interaction. Finally, it proposes the “government of crime” as an effective mechanism to reduce criminality against women to tolerable limits.

The present essay focuses its development on the analysis of two important fields for our country: human capital and innovation. On the first, we emphasize the critical challenges facing the youth sector for its acquisition and development. Likewise, in terms of innovation, we ponder over some new public policy instruments that are being developed in other latitudes with positive results. Finally, we develop a proposal that tries to connect both points. That is, an instrument, the social impact bond, with proven results in other territories, projecting it and adapting it to a possible implementation in the youth population of the service sector, specifically in the tourism sector, around their first work experience. The formula is proposed at the scale level for prototyping, validation and obtaining lessons learned.

The need for social rights in developing countries is essential for the full development of the population both in different economic, cultural, technological, environmental, social aspects... etc. According to Article 1 of the Constitution of Peru person and his “dignity” are the supreme goal of society and the state, and in the case of social rights where the dignity of the disadvantaged or victims facts warrant random through public policies. One of the problems faced is that there is an ambiguity between the boundary of the private and the public, and this is be: cause many of the functions that promote social rights are services that can be found in the private sector, such as education and security. This causes a devaluation of these services from the state and in some cases a negligent attitude on the part of the administrative process. However, there are dis tinctions in the ...

Postmodernity has been characterized by the constant use of relativism to be able to modify and re-signify every concrete and objective concept that is related to the human species. The identity crisis through the adoption of ideologies, materialism, the loss of deontological sense and human dignity are symbiotically related to the cultural, philosophical, social and techno-scientific problem that brings with it the relativization of concepts that are analyzed in the social research today and impact the bioethical understanding of human beings. Understanding the postmodern subject and the relativism that permeates it allows the philosopher, the anthropologist, the bioethicist, the political scientist, the sociologist, the psychologist, among others, to consider as a factor the problem that a relativist perspective raises in a materialist, individualist context and reification of the huma...

This research work starts with the question: What would be the reason why our compatriots choose to live in vulnerable areas, exposing their own life and that of their relatives? This question is relevant because it affects millions of compatriots (36% of the population, according to the Ministry of the Environment) and is applicable to any part of Peru. To answer the question an explanatory model is proposed, indicating variables of analysis, and their possible relationships, to make simulations, from the model. It is necessary to consider that the objective of the simulations is not to provide exact results, but to describe possible future behaviors, considering the actions that we take in the present. The proposed model considers a horizon of 50 years, and indicates that only if the problem is treated intensively the percentage of people in vulnerable areas could be reduced after a de...

In the present context, all business activities need to reach, in addition to economic and environmental viability, social legitimacy. The numerous conflicts sparked by economic activities in different areas of the country clearly demonstrate the critical importance of getting the acceptance of the populations and the local authorities of the area in which the activity is performed. The SMEs of the Gamarra trading center are not oblivious to this reality, and realize that they need to obtain and maintain their social viability in the environment where they operate. While acceptance is not a guarantee of business success, it contributes to create the conditions for the good neighborly relations that facilitate social and environmental management. Given the socioeconomic conditions that characterize this sector, in order to achieve this social viability, SME leaders must keep in mind from ...

The present study aims to analyze chronic child malnutrition as a social fact, an expression of underdevelopment and a consequence of social inequalities (conventional epidemiology versus critical epidemiology) that are generated in the spaces of daily life of the most unprotected. Its approach implies departing from conventional epidemiology - from its "cold" statistical determinants and its "famous" multicausality (cause / effect) - where the individual and biologist level prevails over the community and social level. Furthermore, it is known that this has brought with it fragmentation and stagnation in its approach; since, no matter how “exact” and “exhaustive” their “methods” are, at the moment the results of their interventions are insufficient. In this context we propose an intervention from the critical epidemiology of: Breilh J (2003), Bengoa JM (2008), Lévi-Strauss ...
