This technique has only been used for the extraction of fish oil, it consisted in the alkaline hydrolysis of glycerides using a rate of 50% KOH for saponification and methylene chloride to extract the unsaponificable part. After saponification and the formation of the sal!, it is acidified to obtain free fatty acids, using acetic acid al temperatures lowers !han -20 ºC. Following the extraction the organic phase containing free fatty acids are dissolved in acetone and temperature used -20ºC ( 20 celsius) precipitates the saturated fatty acids and they are separated by filtration. lt is purified using magnesium salts dissolved in acetone, which means that the unsaturated fatty acids are more soluble. This sample was tested with quality controls like the lodine index, giving much higher values (196) from the once we started (192). lt was also analyze with a GC IS05509-2000 and ISO 5508-1...

Agroindustrial residues are among the lowest cost biomass inputs, these are currently the most applied for the elimination of pollutants in wastewater. This article makes a compilation of the latest experimental findings presented with different organic materials. In this study, the adsorbents were classified based on their preparation technique as: unmodified biosorbent, premodified biosorbent, chemically modified biosorbent, and physically modified biosorbent. It was observed that orange peel, coconut, rice and chestnut are the species with the best results in the adsorption studies. The contaminants adsorbed by these carbons have been more on metals and dyes. Said review showed the good adsorption capacities of the carbons obtained through agro-industrial residues for the adsorption of heavy metals, dyes, pesticides and other contaminants. It was also observed that agro-industrial res...

Removal of chromium was studied to validate the use of activated carbon by microwave radiation. This activation technique was previously used in the oxidation of carbon nanotubes and charcoal. It was tried to apply this technique in a coal of mineral origin, coming from the coal mines of the Santa - Ancash river basin and to improve the properties of removal of this material, with which in the long term and to greater investigation would be possible to give a use Apart from the one that is currently destined. The experimental activation tests were successful, this reflected in the removal kinetics of chromium; the removal capacity values determined in said kinetics are between 34% for unconverted coal and 41% for activated charcoal, which indicates that the removal capacity is highly dependent on the activation of the material.

The objective of the present investigation is apply activated carbon obtained prepared from aguaje seeds (Mauritia flexuosa) for the removal of mercury. Activated carbon obtained was modified with manganese oxide to compare the adsorption capacity between the modified and unmodified carbon. The use of ultrasound in a solution with a pH 9 favored the fixation of manganese on the surface of the activated carbon, which was determined using the techniques of DRX and ICP-OES. The kinetic tests carried out at pH 3,5 (over zero charge potential) with a concentration of 5 ppm of mercury show a higher adsorption capacity at modified carbon at pH 9 in accordance with the pseudo second order model. Adsorption isotherms indicate a predominantly Freundlich behavior.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of external skeletal fixators as a means of stabilization, using the technique of double pelvic osteotomy in patients with hip dysplasia. Five crossbred dogs (3 males and 2 females), 3-4 months old, weighing 9.4 to 12.5 kg, and clinically healthy were used. The Norberg angle was radiological assessed before and after 6 weeks of the surgery when the external fixators were removed. Weekly X-rays for five weeks after the surgery were taken to monitor the development of the bone callus. The 80% (4/5) of dogs showed radiographic evidence of bone callus formation on week 2 and all dogs showed a well-developed bone callus associated with adequate contribution of mechanical stability on week 5. The Norberg angle increased 9.4 degrees on average (Range: 4 to 14 degress). The results showed that external skeletal fixation provides good stability when u...

The alteration of the vertical dimension can be caused by different factors, among which, we find partial loss of dental pieces, pathological wear of the occlusal surfaces that are caused by different etiologies, being one of the most common bruxism. This results in alterations in the stomatognathic system that causes aesthetic and functional sequelae. That is why the importance of theoretical and clinical knowledge of partial edentulism when the vertical dimension is altered, because as we know there are currently many biomaterials and techniques to rehabilitate a patient with these characteristics, however, all part of a correct diagnosis. Traditionally different methods have been used to establish the appropriate vertical dimension; however, there is not yet a single method capable of providing total accuracy. The objective of this work is to share the approach to a patient with alter...

The author's experience with surgical repair of urinary incontinence (SUI) using the technique of subperiosteal suspension in two successive groups of 40 and 33 patients with a minimum follow-up of 2 years, respectively, is presented. Age was similar in both groups and there were fewer large multiparous in the second group. SUI was more severe and moderate degree of genital prolapse was also moderate or moderate to severe. In the surgical repair one thick silk suture used is preferably 0, performing the approximation of the levator ani. Foley catheter was removed on the third day. As in the first series, the result was positive in 90 percent in the second group, so far no patient reported recurrence of SUI, giving a favorable outcome of 95 percent in 73 patients. Cystocele recurred in 25 percent in the first group and 12 percent in the second group, always mild. These results are compara...

Introduction: Mini screws are devices used to optimize anchorage in orthodontics, and are fixed in the bone structure. Case of report: We present the case of a patient who came to the oral and maxillofacial surgery office due to the accidental introduction of a mini orthodontic screw into the maxillary sinus; a tomographic evaluation was requested, determining the thickening of the Schneider membrane and the presence of the foreign body inside it. The Caldwell-Luc surgical technique was performed and the mini screw was located and removed. Subsequent complications were pain on touch and paresthesia; a laser therapy with photobiomodulation was performed, and both pain and paresthesia were resolved. Conclusion: One year after surgery, the patient was asymptomatic and without paresthesia, the control tomography verified absence of Schneider's membrane thickening and permeable anatomical rep...

Procedures were evaluated for the rapid and efficient purification of oocysts and esporocysts of Sarcocystis aucheniae (Sa) from the small intestine of experimentally infected dogs with 400 Sa macrocysts obtained from meat of naturally infected alpacas. The mucosa of the small intestine was removed. Samples were washed by centrifugation with PBS, homogenized and centrifuged. Large quantities of oocysts attached to the intestinal microvilli were obtained. In the first procedure, an ezimatic treatment with 5% tripsin was used resulting in 50% oocyst separation. In the second procedure samples were treated with 2.6% sodium hypoclorite solution achieving 80% separation. In the third procedure, samples were centrifuged with a discontinuous density gradient of potassium bromide rendering 99% oocyst separation. The later procedure allowed obtaining relevant quantities of purified Sa oocysts and...
