Although the relationship between programming, robotics and education has a long history, these specific knowledge and skills were not explicitly included in the official documents of the Latin American education policy until recently. Argentina is the first South American country in which programming and robotics are included in the basic contents of compulsory education. In this article, based on a qualitative analysis of a set of official documents, we propose to explore the arguments favoring the inclusion of programming and robotics in formal education, and the way in which they are suggested to be incorporated in classrooms.

The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the educational program “How important it is to pay taxes!” oriented to develop knowledge and favorable attitudes about tax culture in high school students of a private educational institution of Juliaca. The research is framed in a quasi-experimental design with pre and post intervention evaluation, in which the participants were divided into two groups: experimental (GE = 30) and control (GC = 30). In this case, it was the GE who received a total of 10 educational sessions distributed in 3 modules: knowledge, perception and attitudes. To determine the effectiveness of the program, a questionnaire was applied that measured the tax culture used in a similar investigation and validated by experts in financial education. The results indicate that before the intervention six participants of the GE (20%) demonstrated knowledge abo...

Over time, forests have played an important role in the ecosystems’ balance. They store and retain a large amount of carbondioxide, preventing it to be released into the atmosphere. However, in recent years, deforestation and forest degradation endanger their continuity in the provision of such service. In this article, the authors explain the program called “Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation” (REDD+), which seeks to combat such problems. In that way, they introduce which are the challenges for its implementation in our country.

In this paper, we present a real in-streaming case of learning about how to program with the z-tree software to design experiments on economic decision making for the members of the NECE Research Unit in Business Sciences, in Portugal. This real case of in-streaming-learning was created to respond the need of a teaching method based on new technologies for people who could be in different parts of the world and with different time availability, but they also need to learn to program z-tree to use it in their experiments. Researchers and students learned the Ztree software applications in business research and economic decision making. Specifically, they learned: What is z-Tree software?; What is z-Tree software for?; What advantages does it have? and What applications can you obtain in business research?; How to get it for free?; Technical requirements; The structure of z-Tree software, ...

The strategy-making process, for Henry Mintzberg and others, is seen as an impenetrable 'black box' for planners, around which they work, providing some of its inputs, programming its outputs as well as encouraging strategic thinking in general. The challenge is how to open this 'black box' to generate creative and doable strategies, to evaluate them and choose the most favorable for the company. The Strategic Decisions Group (SDG) process allows to generate alternative strategies; which are evaluated given the relevant information and the c/early established decision criteria to determine the potential value and risk associated with each strategy. This process is efficient and well balanced; it does not waste time and resources in issues that are not crucial to the decisions that define the strategy, concluded in a timing manner and tend to 100% of quality on the content of the decis...

This paper is a contribution to the improvement of the social expenditure's focalization agenda. It focuses in government expenditures programs against poverty. To efficiently reach the goals, these programs must be included at the level of the universal and permanent programs. Once included these programs could provide a minimum set of equality opportunities, securing adequate nutrition, health, education, justice and housing services. After a critical survey on methods of poverty measurement, we propose a New Poverty Map, which could be used to efficiently allocate government resources. This takes into account the consumption needs of the population, income inequality, and the severity of the poverty. In our results we emphasize that people participation is a key element favoring the communities’ development, the deepening of the democratic system and the strengthening of the acco...

The following work attempts to broaden the perspective regarding beliefs considering that traditionally only beliefs of the conscious and linguistic type have been considered. In other words, it has been assumed that human cognition only creates beliefs from our ability to produce language. Contrary to this, the article suggests that cognition implies a spectrum of beliefs that also encompasses those that are neither linguistic nor conscious, and that emotions are beliefs as propositional survival programs. In order to accomplish this, theories of the philosophy of the mind, contemporary psychoanalysis, Buddhist psychology and neuroscience are treated. Taking all in consideration, we can assure that the amount of beliefs we have is much wider than those of which we are linguistically aware.

A proposal is presented to assess teacher’s performance based on the aspects that educational research has found as fundamental to achieve students’ learning. The proposal is aimed mainly at teachers and people responsible for teacher’s assessment programs. After criticizing the traditional way of assessing teacher’s performance, it is shown a different way of doing it considering four essential dimensions of teaching: Knowledge of what is taught, management of didactic aspects, teacher’s didactic thinking and teacher motivation, responsibility and self-efficacy. It is described and justified what and how to assess, suggesting to do it by observing the educational practice. Therefore, guidelines are provided to assess it, pointing out the didactic aspects that are considered essential for students to acquire knowledge. It ends pointing out its advantages and giving some recomme...

This paper aims at filling the gap regarding the need to incorporate self-efficacy in translator training programmes in a structured way (Atkinson & Crezee, 2014). It describes a learning experience implemented in the translation classroom aimed at developing students’ translation self-efficacy, i.e., their confidence in their abilities to translate (Bandura 1987, 1997; Haro-Soler, 2017a, 2017b). This experience included practices such as goal-setting as a motivational incentive, verbal persuasion, vicarious learning, and activities to promote students’ self-awareness. The results of an empirical-descriptive study performed to qualitatively and quantitatively assess this training experience from the participants’ perspective will also be presented. The results were obtained from an online questionnaire that all 15 participants were asked to complete and showed that, in their op...

Background: In studies carried out with young people without hearing impairment, the problem of considering the report of condom use as a preventive behavior is evidenced, since this by itself is not an indicator of its correct use. Objective: To evaluate the level of knowledge that deaf young people have about how to use a condom, the frequency with which they use it and the mistakes they make when using it, as well as exploring the relationship between these variables and the differences depending on the sex of the participants. Method: The Computerized Questionnaire on Sexual Health for Young Mexicans with Hearing Disabilities was used to evaluate, in a sample of 57 young Mexican deaf people (32 men and 25 women with an average age of 20.02 years), their sexual behavior, the level of knowledge on the correct use of condoms and the frequency of mistakes they make when us...
