There is a variety of techniques to test the differences between independent correlations which are not available in statistical programs familiar to the researcher. We present examples of these techniques to evaluate different hypotheses within the context of correlations in independent samples, together with interactive, friendly and freeware computer programs.

This research was aimed at determining to what extent factors prior to university admission, motivational factors, and institutional experiences explain the academic persistence of students in the University Leveling Term (CIU) at the Simon Bolivar University - Coastal Campus. An explanatory-type quantitative study was proposed, which involved a non-experimental cross-sectional retrospective causal relationship design. The sample consisted of 101 students (50.5% female) with an average age of 17.90 years (SD = 2.37). The study found a significant relationship between some variables explaining academic persistence, which were: a) having a lower orientation toward academic goals; b) a higher score on the maladaptive pattern; c) a higher score in the perception of the Mathematics professor’s evaluation; and d) a higher score in the final performance. This set of variables explains 56.4% o...

The objective of this study was to evaluate Social Anxiety in preadolescents of an educational establishment in the Province of San Luis, Argentina, and then intervene through a workshop through three stages: Pre-Intervention, Post-Intervention and Follow-up. The Horse Social Anxiety Questionnaire, Arias Salazar, Irurtia and Ollendick (CASO-N24, 2012) was administered. The sample consisted of 13 preadolescents, of both sexes, whose ages were between 10 and 11 years. The analysis was carried out by means of a longitudinal study of repeated measures. The results show significant differences after the intervention performed. This indicates effectiveness in the intervention carried out, favoring the reduction of Social Anxiety in an evolutionary stage of great vulnerability.

This article will present evidence on the efficacy of the personal development program for elderly applied in a Geriatric Residential Center in Metropolitan Lima. The sample was comprised by 15 residents of both sexes whose age was between 65 to 87 years old. The Psychological wellbeing scale by Díaz, Rodríguez, Blanco, Moreno, Gallardo, Valle & Van Dierendonck was used as instrument (2006). The design of the investigation is quasi-experimental applied in two times before the implementation of the program and after the implementation of the program. The results evidenced that the areas of self-acceptance, positive relationships and life purpose generated significant changes in the residents of the center. Also, in the social-demographic variables of this study was concluded that male participants with complete secondary studies whose ages were form 65 to 87 years old obtained high ...

Objective. To determine correlation between the Academic Leveling Program and academic performance of students of 1st semester of Universidad de Huanuco in subjects such as Basic Mathematics I and Language I, during 2018-I semester. Methods. A quantitative, descriptive, retrospective correlational study was carried out. The population was made up of 2075 students and a non-probability sample of 276 students, distributed in 14 academic programs offered by the University. To collect the data, written tests and student’s grades report obtained during the implementation of the Leveling Program were used. Pearson’s correlation was used for inferential analysis of results. Results. Regarding the correlation between Academic Leveling Program and academic performance of students of the first semester, a Pearson correlation coefficient (r) of 0.36 (p <= 0.000). Conclusion. The Academic Lev...

The present investigation had as objective: To determine the influence of the tutoring program in the development of social skills of the students of the Professional School of Initial Education. UNHEVAL 2018. For the analysis and interpretation of the results, the pre-experimental design with pre-test and post-test with a single application group was used and, through non-probability sampling, a working group consisting of 44 students from the IV cycle of the Professional School of Initial Education. A pre-test and post-test of 42 items were applied. Comparing the pretest and posttest of each dimension and the total consolidation of social skills, the following result was obtained: correlation index shows that the value of r = 0.40 and…. They are between 0.40 ≤ r <0.80 and their interpretation indicates that there is a significant influence between the Mentoring Program and the d...

The teaching of human parasitology is essential for students of health sciences, especially medicine, because it is a major global public health problem―occurring with high frequency in low-income countries―and because of its presence in countries considered developed. In this sense, it is estimated that worldwide there are 2,800 million individuals infected with soil-transmitted helminths, 20 to 30% people infected with Toxoplasma gondii, 300 to 500 million new cases of malaria per year, and nearly 15 million Latin Americans with Chagas disease, an infection caused by Trypanosoma cruzi. This narrative review article analyzes information available in digital repositories on aspects of the traditional educational program of human or medical parasitology using descriptors or keywords closely related to the topic. The reviewed articles were mainly those published in peer-reviewed, index...

The objective of this research was to determine the influence of a psychological intervention program for bullying rates in secondary school students, the type of research was applied with a quantitative approach, its pre-experimental design, as a population and sample is considered to be 20 First grade students, the technique used was the survey and as a tool a questionnaire of 25 articles was used whose application is to specifically know the level of the study variable, which could be applied collectively with the duration of 15 minutes. Likewise, it should be noted that in order to facilitate the understanding of the results of the analysis carried out the items that had the response: never, almost never, sometimes, almost always and always. As a main result, after applying the normality test and the Wilcoxon test it was found that the Sig (0.015) < p-value (0.05) thus rejecting H...
