Los valores literarios forman la mente y el corazón de los estudiantes, impactando a unos más que otros, según nuestra sensibilidad y el hábito en la lectura de los libros. The purpose of this article is to contribute to a better understanding of the most important literary trends in the Peruvian cultural scenery of the nineteenth century. Costumbrismo is assumed as the reaffi rmation of our national identity (our customs, our social and cultural reality) against the others (the Spaniards). However, in the following decades, during romanticism, Peruvian creoles and intellectuals did not attempt an approach to the others (that is, to the Andean population and the rural reality of the country). The purpose of this paper is to discuss the genesis or emergence, within the Peruvian literary system, of a self-reflective literary discourse whose aim is to present the writing process of a work from the point of view of its author. In order to clarify the features and strategies found in this particular type of discourse, we analyze the case of Historia secreta de una novela (1971) [The Secret History of a Novel], an essay by Mario Vargas Llosa. Finally, the main characteristics of this type of discourse are specified, such as the presence of a dialogical, autobiographical, prescriptive or testimonial component, at a micro-discourse level.

This paper describes and analyzes, from the linguistic and literary perspectives, the expressive, literary and linguistic-communicative resources in the Ancash huayno, a traditional Andean manifestation in which Quechua folk poems and traditional rural music are combined. The research was descriptive and approached with a qualitative approach. The data collected demonstrates that the Quechua verbal art in the Ancash Huayno evidences the use of different lexical, expressive-communicative and literary resources to manifest different aspects of life, death and love with its many facets. This article aims to examine Lacan’s thought on literary creation. With this aim in mind, we take as a point of reference Seminar 23, in which he deals with what Lacan calls the sinthome, a word in which he injects classical Greek into French, following the model of the Irish writer James Joyce, the object of analysis in the seminar. At the same time, some considerations are made with respect to some aspects of the sinthome that studies have interpreted in different ways, to end up proposing a new formula for this concept: sinthome 2. This comes from the fact that, at a certain point in this seminar, Lacan asserts that in the oedipal process the father is a sinthome. If this is so, it follows that literary writing as a sinthome can only be a second sinthome in relation to the first.

This article systematizes and shows the four models of edition followed by the ecdotica on Vallejo’s poetry. Each of them is framed in the historiographical context that goes from the sixties of the 20th century (pre-critical edition and critical edition) to the second decade of the 21st century (diplomatic edition). Este artículo se propone establecer un panorama del proceso narrativo peruano en torno a Lima, la capital de la República del Perú. Atiende, principalmente, a las relaciones de los autores con la ciudad y los modos de representación asumidos por ellos para transformarla en un “objeto de sentido”, en consonancia con la noción de modernidad –tanto en cuentos como en novelas– desde el siglo XIX hasta la década de 1970. El sondeo incluye al modernismo, la vanguardia, la llamada Generación del Cincuenta y la década de 1960. No se pierden de vista las características del marco de producción, que contribuyen a la comprensión global de los fenómenos socioculturales que hicieron posibles los textos.

In the context of the crisis in which Spain is involved towards the end of the 19th century and the processes of conformation and consolidation of the national States in Latin America, takes place in Madrid in 1892 a political-linguistic singular event: the Literary Spanish-American Congress, organized in order to celebrate the 4th Centenary of the Discovery of America. The translation of dialects is one of the most difficult challenges in literary translation, because the translator faces a text that must be adapted to the culture of the target language, so that the translation could be understood by the target language’s community. One of the options for facing a dialectally marked text is to use an existing-dialect with similar connotations. Another option is to translate to a standard language.
