Coronary artery disease involving chronic occlusions and bifurcation lesions continues to be a challenge for the interventional cardiologist. The improvement in the techniques has allowed a higher success rate, however, the best intervention strategy is unknown in this subgroup of patients with chronic occlusions and associated bifurcation lesions. We present the case of a patient in whom, in an angiography for study of chest pain, a chronic total occlusion and a bifurcation lesion were evidenced and were successfully treated by coronary intervention.

Objective. To determine the discriminative capacity of myocardial perfusion with single photon emission tomography (SPECT) to predict coronary obstructions by coronary angiography. To determine mortality and major cardiovascular events at follow-up. Materials and methods. Retrospective observational study with clinical follow-up in patients undergoing SPECT and then coronary angiography. We excluded patients with myocardial infarction and percutaneous and/or surgical revascularization in the previous 6 months. Results: 105 cases were included in the study. The most commonly used SPECT protocol was pharmacological (70%). Patients with perfusion defect ≥10% of total ventricular mass (TVM) had significant coronary lesions (SCL) in 88% of cases (sensitivity 87.5% and specificity 83%). On the other hand, having ischemia ≥10% of the TVM was associated with 80% SCL (sensitivity: 72%, specif...

Introduction: The global oral health scenario, as per WHO 2022 report, states that 3.5 billion people are affected by oral diseases. Despite oral mucous membrane's susceptibility to various diseases, scant information exists on oral lesions. This study aims to assess the impact of dietary habits on oral mucosal lesions in the North Indian population. Material and Methods: A community based cross-sectional survey was conducted in a rural area, involving 405 participants. Oral health questionnaires and clinical examinations were utilized for data collection. Chi-square test and Multivariate regression model were used for analysis. Results: Lesser fruit intake was associated with high prevalence of candidiasis (30%). Sweets consumption was linked with ulcerations (44.4%) an abscess (44.4%) and 4 to 9 times increased risk of oral lesions whereas soft drinks were linked with leukoplakia and c...

This article presents interventions to prevent mortality and injuries from traffic accidents (TA), from the scientific evidence and perspective of the actors involved. For this purpose, a systematic search was carried out, a policy summary was organized with the participation of key actors to finally carry out a deliberative dialogue with technical representatives of the various institutions related to the approach of the proposed problem. Describe evidence-based interventions related to education, integral infrastructure, pre-hospital assistance, regulations and control that were deliberate and contextualized to our local environment. The multi-sector technical representatives contributed considerations for its implementation, the potential benefits or damages, the use of resources, necessary adaptations, possible barriers and facilitators for its approach. It presents the channeling ro...

The esophagus, radiologically considered, is the channel that runs from the junction pharyngeal esophageal cardia, esophagus does not follow a straight line with the head of the joint pharyngeal esophageal cardia, but undergoes some slight deviations, and first in its origin at the level of the cricoid cartilage; After you head slightly to the left again to reach the midline, then to deviate from the midline at the level of the aortic arch. Then goes through the left bronchus; goes through the diaphragmatic hiatus to conclude later in the cardia. These deviations, which apparently significangran thing without embardo for the radiologist are very important, because the points in which the deviations are checked are precisely the points a little closer and need preferably alert the radiologist of the strangest bodies they are housed in well under item nosologically, as we shall see later.

Objective: To determine the prevalence of midline nasofrontal lesions in a tertiary hospital of regional referral and it´s relationship with other malformations. Material and Methods: Study Design: Transversal retrospective. Male and female patients aged 1 month to 13 years of age with congenital lesions of the nasofrontal midline, treated at Children's Hospital from 1990 to 2005. Sample: was obtained by a non-probabilistic sample of consecutive cases. Through the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 13.0 which included descriptive statistics: median as a measure of central tendency and frequency distribution and proportion as a measure of dispersion. Results: a review of clinical records was conducted from 1990 to 2005, finding 38 of 67 records reviewed, 29 files were excluded because they correspond to the diagnosis of occipital encephalocele. Prevalence was 38 c...

The following article is of applicative and instrumental character and was drawn from the results of a series of architectural projects in which the intervention of buildings considered heritage gave opportunity to look beyond traditional methods and processes for graphical documentation . A methodology was developed that involves using the Visual System software Structure from Motion, from which a three-dimensional model is obtained; through a combination of imaging techniques the graphic documentation and survey of pathological lesions of the building is improved. Two resources were optimized to achieve the viability of the projects: time and budget, both scarce. This led to the proposal of a strategy based on methods that allow optimal performance in the process of graphic documentation, ensuring fidelity in the current representation of the building, and it’s injuries and pathologi...

This work describes the standardization of Micronucleus Assay (MN) and Comet Assay techniques used for the evaluation of the DNA damage on marine bivalves. These techniques are important because they can evaluate the early stress response caused by pollutant agents and environmental changes. Branchial tissues of Semimytilus algosus and Aulacomya ater were used for in vivo and in vitro treatments. Tissues were exposed to the mutagenetic agents Mitomicine C in concentrations of 0,02; 0,04 and 0,06 x 10-6 M and H2 O2 in concentration of 100 μM evaluated at 1, 3, 6, 24 and 48 h. Different solutions for the tissue collection and cell isolation were evaluated, obtaining more cell viability with cold CMFS pH 7,3 saline solution. Micronucleus Assay were modified in the obtaining of suspension cell, we used 0,9% Sodium citrate hipotonic solution, fixation in methanol for seconds after the spread...
