Communication for development (CfD) is a discipline that seeks to promote social change through the strategic use of media and participatory dialogue. However, there is a paucity of studies that systematically and critically analyze the social processes underlying CfD interventions and their impact on the social significance of beneficiary communities. This article presents a narrative review of the literature on CfD, with the aim of identifying the main theoretical and methodological approaches that have addressed this topic, as well as the main limitations and challenges facing research in this field. Thirty-five articles published between 2018 and 2023 were analyzed, selected through a search in the Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, Redalyc and Latindex databases. The results show that most of the studies adopt a qualitative and participatory perspective, focused on the analysis of spec...

In recent years, the use of antidepressant drugs has increased. Amongst the reasons that have led to the increase in the use of antidepressants, are those included in the "medicalization" process, by which normal situations of life have been treated, as the only remedy, from a medical point of view. Although antidepressants are of great help, they should not be the only resource, nor the first resource in any situation, to be used for the treatment of depression. In many situations, human beings need assistance in order to rationalize and channel their emotions which, in certain situations, can easily get out of control. It is in these situations where a clinical psychologist has an important task of preventing a normal situation from turning into something considered to be pathological. Therefore, a good strategy to alleviate the "medicalization" of depression should include a greater p...

Introduction: Evidence-based and culturally acceptable educational materials have been shown to be an effective tool in promoting healthy eating. Objective: To design a printed nutritional education material using Intervention Mapping protocol for a Lifestyle Clinic. Methods: Four of the steps of the Intervention Mapping protocol were used: 1) needs assessment, 2 identification of behavioral outcomes, performance objectives, and change objectives, 3) selection of theory-based methods and strategies and 4) program development. Results: The Logical Model PRECEDE was built, the matrix of change objectives based on the determinants of knowledge, identification, availability, and information processing was used as a theoretical model. A 22-page magazine was obtained with content, images, text and writing based on the Intervention Mapping steps. Conclusion: The Intervention Mapping process pro...

This article explores the main characteristics and stylized facts of the exchange rate behavior in Peru and the Central Bank interventions in the foreign exchange market. In this sense, our aim is to model the monetary authority’s decision of participation in the market, by selling or buying dollars. We also try to determine the relative importance of the set of variables considered as potentially relevant in the price determination process of the dollar. Finally we try to assess the implications of these findings over the financial system performance. Weuse daily data and a new methodology, which allows us to reveal and explore in a better way the short run behavior of the exchange rate in Peru.

This paper seeks to implement a soft robotic solution for guiding endoscopic cameras. These soft robots are constructed using pliable materials, granting them the ability to conform to irregular contours and dynamic environments. This intrinsic flexibility renders them particularly adept at navigating through constrained spaces within the human body during minimally invasive procedures. Presently, the manipulation of endoscopes can lead to inadvertent injuries due to the challenges posed by their maneuverability. In response, a novel approach has been proposed: employing a soft robot to guide the endoscopic camera during surgical interventions. To achieve this, the design methodologies of VDI 2225 and VDI 2206 were incorporated, ensuring a systematic and robust development process. Central to this implementation isthe integration of a movement control system, synergistically functioning ...

Public Budgeting Program 068 (PP068 by its Spanish initials) is part of the National System for Disaster Risk Management financial strategy and is linked to disaster risk management processes—among them, the processes of Reactive Management (GR by its Spanish initials). It enables articulated interventions between entities from the three government levels to reduce the vulnerability of the population and their means of living. The study determined the relationship between PP068 and GR based on the budget allocation for the products and actions aimed at the preparation, response and rehabilitation processes. This means that the variables have a cause and effect relationship; this is to say, a considerable budget allocation in PP068 helps to put the preparation and response procedures from reactive management into operation, resulting in value creation in municipality interventions as a ...

The application of video-modeling in an educational intervention program to develop the autonomy of students with autism spectrum disorder, level 3 severity (ASD3), is an element to take into account for the effective development of basic social skills, which are related to daily self-care routines (grooming and personal hygiene, food and clothing), as it is one of the main areas affected according to the clinical diagnostic criteria for autism spectrum disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-5 (DSM-5) of the current American Psychiatryc Association. This article presents the particularities of the disorder and the guidelines to take into account for the application of this method in the process of designing an innovative educational intervention program aimed at Special Basic Education Centers considering technical, didactic and organizational aspects, as w...
