The enforceability of awards is the most valued feature of arbitration. This alternative dispute resolution mechanism depends, almost entirely, on the efficiency of the final product it provides: the award. The quality of this instrument, however, may vary depending on the arbitrators in charge of rendering it and, most important, the institutions that fulfill the function of regulating the arbitral procedure. In this article, the authors propose that arbitral institutions in Peru implement the scrutiny of awards in order to improve the quality and enforceability of awards. This scrutiny aims to be an additional competition factor among them as well as it leads them to having a higher quality standard in the services they offer. This measure is in accordance with the users’ preferences and would demand great institutional effort, a technical design work, a strong policy in favor of inte...

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the adoption of virtual and hybrid teaching methods, leading to substantial changes in educational approaches. This study focused on evaluating the effect of mediating technologies on post-pandemic educational processes, emphasizing their essential role in enhancing interaction and cooperation between teachers and students. Although their relevance is evident, challenges persist in terms of access, quality, and evaluation of technological educational initiatives. To address these challenges, a comprehensive literature review was conducted, examining 26 international academic studies published in the last five years. The findings indicate that mediating technologies positively influence motivation, student retention, and self-directed learning, especially in higher education and language teaching. However, the effects vary depending on the context. It is ...

The purpose of the research was to obtain a better understanding of the processes of school self-evaluation. To this end, an attempt was made to understand the experiences and perceptions of the main actors involved in an institutional self-evaluation process in which the possibility of a participative construction of the school model was offered, as well as the indicators and evaluation instruments of the same. This self-assessment process lasted two years and involved 30 schools of different educational levels and had the presence of a facilitator and an economic incentive from the regional government. The information was gathered from a survey and documentary review. The results of the study showed that people are open to collaborate and be part of self-evaluation processes. Furthermore, the figure of external support for the development of capacities is necessary. It was also discove...

In recent years, Peru has faced a political crisis marked by continuous clashes between the Executive and Legislative branches, particularly during the 2016-2020 period. These conflicts led to various institutional responses—such as impeachments, dissolutions, and resignations—that, rather than resolving the crisis, contributed to its prolongation. This cycle of instability culminated in a wave of social unrest, expressed through mass protests and the resignation of then-president Manuel Merino. This study argues that the weakness of Peru’s presidential model, reflected in its institutional design and its limited capacity to manage presidential crises, facilitated the persistence of the Executive-Legislative conflict during the 2016-2020 period. Through the process tracing method, this research reconstructs key events and analyzes information from primary and secondary sources to u...

One of the main challenges when managing software projects is determining the effort needed to deliver the product, and in Peru, public entities are aligned in regulatory compliance, which is why the use of agile approaches has increased due to the uncertainty in measuring the size of the software. In that sense, through this research, the development process for OSINFOR was improved by incorporating the COSMIC method to measure the software size and determine the effort for developments. The improved process has been analyzed in two case studies to corroborate the standard measurement and approximation approach from COSMIC method. Finally, as a result, it has been shown that the incorporation of measurement activities considering the COSMIC standard improves the process for building software, achieving 75% in compliance with the activities, 75% in the measurement efficiency and 76% in t...

The historic center of Manizales is a crucial point of reference to understand, to a large extent, the existing imaginary within the city, since this, historically, was the setting where the foundation and location of the city took place, but it has also been the landscape on which countless milestones and historical periods have occurred. That is why, the main objective of the research is to analyze the way in which the Manizales residents perceive their territory in the historic center under different temporalities that respond to historical, economic, social and political events that construct reality. It is intended to define diachronically the social, patrimonial, symbolic and daily construction of the historic center of Manizales, articulating all these elements under the concept of territoriality, memory around the territory, since, in this, the key will be found to define histori...
