Probiotic bacteria in aquaculture represent a control alternative and prevention of pathogens, in addition, reduce the use of antibiotics. However, it is necessary to search for other groups of bacteria with similar or better properties, obtained even from the same source. The aim of the study was to identify molecularly lactic acid bacteria with probiotic properties isolated from the posterior intestine of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The study was carried out from November 2017 to March 2018 evaluating the antagonistic, proteolytic, amylolytic, and antibiotic sensitivity activities, and antagonistic to the following pathogens: Aeromonas hydrophila, Aeromonas veronii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pseudomonas putida and Plesiomonas shigelloides. It was identified by sequencing the 16S rRNA gene that Enterococcus faecium (IP5-2a) and Pedioc...

The bacteriorhodopsin (bR) is a protein which plays a role as a proton pump when is stimulated by light. The bR is involved in ATP's synthesis through a process of transductíon, turning light energy into chemical energy(photosynthesis). The bR codífied by bop gene and located in the cell envelope, covers up to 50 % of the extreme haloarchaeas when the environment is anaerobic. This feature shows a maximum degree of adjustment to anaerobic conditions of halophilic microorganism. Since the bR functíon as photoreceptor was proposed, several studies have been done in order to elucidate its amino acid sequence, structural conformation, physicochemical properties and expression and gene regulation characteristics. The excellent bR's photochemical and thermodynamic properties make it a peculiar molecule and a candidate to biotechnological applications in biocomputation for example in optical...

Introduction. Studies on the infection of Helicobacter pylori and the IL-1B gene play an important role within inflammation and its proinflammatory properties that promote defense against pathogens. Polymorphisms have been related to a higher production of IL-1β associated with hypochlorhydria and cancer development under H. pylori infection, so the objective of this study was to evaluate polymorphism in the +3954 region (IL- 1B C> T) of the interleukin IL1β gene. Method. the blood samples were donated and collected to be processed for the determination of H. pylori, by means of the Urease Test (Proindusquim), in the city of Villahermosa Tabasco, Mexico, separating positive and negative samples (control), the positive samples were analyzed by PCR and enzymatic digestion for polymorphic analysis in the +3954 region (IL-1B C> T). Results. 245 samples 78 cases of H. p...

Objective: To predict by using bioinformatic tools Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MT) metabolic pathways under hypoxic conditions. Design: Biology analysis. Setting: Instituto de Química Biológica, Microbiología y Biotecnología Marco Antonio Garrido Malo Biological, Microbiologic and Biotechnologic Chemistry Institute, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biochemistry, UNMSM. Biologic material: Mycobacterium tuberculosis genes. Methods: The study began with the selection of 355 genes of MT H37Rv whose expression has been shown by other studies is induced by hypoxic conditions and 359 genes whose expression was repressed. Up and down expressed genes were comparatively analyzed, localizing genes of each group within the MT genome and predicting some physicochemical properties (isoelectric point and hydrophobic moment) for their protein products. In order to assign a metabolic or regulatory pathway to ...

Background: Rifampicin (RIF) resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis is frequently caused by mutations in the rpoB gene. These mutations are associated with a fitness cost, which can be overcome by compensatory mutations in other genes, among which rpoC may be the most important. Aims and objectives: We analyzed 469 Peruvian M. tuberculosis clinical isolates to identify compensatory mutations in rpoC/rpoA associated with RIF resistance. Materials and methods: The M. tuberculosis isolates were collected and tested for RIF susceptibility and spoligotyping. Samples were sequenced and aligned to the reference genome to identify mutations. By analyzing the sequences and the metadata, we identified a list of rpoC mutations exclusively associated with RIF resistance and mutations in rpoB. We then evaluated the distribution of these mutations along the protein sequence and tridimensional struct...
