This article displays the main foundations and findings of a research on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in legal English courses at Universidad Santo Tomás in Villavicencio (Colombia), intended to provide an answer to the following question: What is the impact of fostering Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) within legal English classes? The study was a descriptive longitudinal mixed methods approach research developed over two years with 56 law students with an age range between 21 and 23 years that delved into three issues, namely, students’ perceptions concerning legal English classes, after two years of participating in lessons designed under Bloom’s taxonomy; students’ insights regarding HOTS and their influence on learning a foreign language and on their future performance as lawyers, and the identification and analysis of strengths and weaknesses of the methodology imp...

This article examines the leisure and free time practices of working-class women in Lima, relating to recreation and rest developed in the interstices of domestic work and informal work domains. To this end, a typology of leisure and free time is elaborated considering the following categories: personalized, with family, altruistic and cooperative, and market-based. It is established that self-sufficiency, family, and reciprocity practices predominate, going beyond market relations and allowing the construction of equal relationships among women, while market-based leisure and free time corresponds to a reduced aspect of female life involving capital actions. The study was conducted through a probabilistic survey applied in human settlements.

When we prepare and organize a class, we must not only think about what we say or how to say it. Class organization must transcend the concerns of the dictation. We must incorporate tasks so the students can have an active attitude in class: we must not only develop their intellectual abilities, which correspond to the passive situation of listening to the teacher. We must ensure that in the learning process the student involves other skills that stimulate their cognitive aspect: with this in mind, the teacher takes on a mediating role, giving prominence to the student. We must seek a balance between teacher, student and the tasks or activities designed. In this article, we will reflect on the advantages of having a good class design, which no longer look only at the content that is taught, but it concentrates on teaching how to learn; it no longer the course but the student is the cente...

Introduction: experimentation is an essential tool in learning, allowing an explanation of how knowledge integrates within a scientific academic community. Objective: to analyze the perception of students, teachers, and administrative staff regarding the delivery of practical classes in General Chemistry through virtual modality (use of laboratories) at the State University of the Santa Elena Peninsula (UPSE) in Santa Elena, Ecuador, amidst the health emergency caused by COVID-19 during 2020. Methodology: a mixed approach with an exploratory scope was employed, utilizing survey techniques with an instrument consisting of 15 parametric questions (10 closed-ended and 5 open-ended), exhibiting a reliability of 0.767 in Cronbach's Alpha; the research was non-experimental, adopting a cross-sectional cohort, encompassing the entire sample (133 individuals). Results: Over 50% of educational sta...

Objectives: To assess the cortical bone thickness of incisors when proclined and normo-positioned according to skeletal Class I and Class II malocclusions. Material and Methods: This study was descriptive, cross-sectional and observational. The study population consisted of 1220 pre-orthodontic treatment CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) scans from the archive of the Autonomous University of Nayarit between 2015–2023. The final sample included 76 scans. Inclusion criteria were as follows: diagnostic records containing CBCT scans of patients aged 12–40 years with no prior orthodontic treatment or anterior dental crowding. Incisor positioning was standardized for CBCT measurements. Data recording and descriptive statistics were performed using Microsoft Excel. Student’s t-tests were conducted using StatCalc software. Results: In the maxilla, both in Class I and II, when the inciso...

The treatment of various skeletal malocclusions in children and young’ patients are performed applying orthopedic forces, seeking to alter growth or open sutures in certain anatomical regions. The condyle (CO) and mandibular fossa (MF) are regions that have been subjected to intense forces awaiting bone remodeling as part of the treatment. Due to the classic two-dimensional records used to assess anatomical morphological changes, many results have been controversial. With the use of tomography and modern tomographic superposition techniques, it is possible to identify these morphological changes quantitatively and qualitatively in bone structures. An integrated literature review of the morphological alterations of the CO and the MF was performed using Computed Tomography (CT) and Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) in patients with Class II and Class III skeletal malocclusions who use...

The main reason for me is let you known the great importance of communicating fluently in a second language. Nowadays traveler student has the necessity to master a new language because we are in globalize world. Therefore, graduates from school need to be prepared in all four skills as a listening, speaking, writing, grammar and sub-abilities like phonetic and phonology and others and words are going to come out one after another in abundance. Students will find facts and ideas as a result an excellent speech. Learning foreign languages allows us to be ahead in the future and starting from childhood knowing several ones to be prepared for tomorrow. Opinions of different authors about “Developing speaking skills in large classes” has allowed me to reinforce the elaboration of how to reach students and turn them into good speakers It is a little difficult to educate to many students b...

When facing evaluations in the Teleinformatic subject, it is common for students to present difficulties demonstrating the fulfillment of the objectives. Frequent evaluations become an effective tool in the hands of teachers to promote the consolidation of knowledge and the development of skills. However, the teaching load and the tendency towards finalism in students cause little systematization in the study of the subject and therefore poor results in frequent evaluations. Taking into account the existing technological development and the constant linkage of students to ICT, a guide for the design and application of an evaluative instrument for frequent evaluation combined with a computer system is proposed in this work, thus involving novelty and motivation in students through gamification techniques.

Strategies for communicating information have undergone many changes, which have been evidenced in the pandemic. The idea is to be able to connect with the student and that the information is received in a clear, timely and relevant manner, so that he/she will have the prior knowledge to integrate information from theory and practice, in order to successfully face the simulated activity, as well as when interacting with the patient. In this context, the inverted classroom is a didactic strategy that provides videos, podcasts, among others, to be reviewed in advance, so that when the student performs the face-to-face or virtual activity, the most important concepts are deepened and clarified, using active participation methodologies to achieve the following objective: Invested learning seeks a change in the dynamics of learning that points to the student as its axis. The objective of this...

Ello llevó a introducir suces...
