The aim of this study was to know the perception and knowledge of small producers about the behavior of the climate, its effect on milk production and the practices that allow adaptation to this behavior. The study was developed in Carmen de Carupa and Suesca (Cundinamarca, Colombia) with 40 producers who shared their knowledge through a semi-structured interview. The causes of climate change, events that affect milk production, changes in the climate in recent years and strategies that allow its adaptation were investigated. The humidity temperature index, precipitation, milk production and forage quality were determined. Frequency and principal component analysis were analysed through the Infostat® program. Producers considered deforestation as the main cause of climate change, perceived changes in climate and recognized droughts, frosts and high temperatures as events with the greate...

The present investigation allowed to describe how environmental taxation can be applied as an economic instrument in the face of pollution, this being a negative externality. A descriptive analysis of the market failure that represents pollution was carried out, and the tax economic instrument on environmental matters was presented as an action tool, which acts first as compensation for the damage performed and second, as an incentive for behaviors that are not harmful to the environment. Likewise, the various macro figures that represent the cost of environmental degradation in Peru in terms of Gross Domestic Product, provided by the World Bank, were presented. The main environmental problems that generate the most significant economic costs were determined. In this way, it was concluded that the most affected natural resources are air and water, which consequently affect the health and...

The perception of environmental pollution from objective public and private advertising in Peru was diagnosed. A 20-question semi-structured survey was used that was composed of three dimensions: primary information, environmental impacts and consequences, and control measures. The sample was 1,200 people and ran from May 20 to June 06, 2019. Respondents consider signs for political campaigns as the worst form of visual contamination. Graffiti has an environmental impact in cities, generating a terrible image. Digital propaganda signs generate impacts associated with glare and distraction of people, and posters are polluting elements. Advertising affects their concentration, and generates distraction causing their senses to alter, causing them to be in a bad mood and changes in their mood, and increases their stress levels. Also, they consider that visual contamination has an impact on t...

Historically, social science has relegated the function of law to one of social control. As a result, this article seeks to highlight the importance of law as an instrument of social change. In this context, the authors address the relationship between law, legal change and social change through various examples that reflect the extent to which law affects social demands. Thus, the article establishes that law is a mechanism that regulates human relations in order to achieve social goals. For its part, social change can be understood as an evident modification in the patterns of behavior and relationships between people, emanating from the conscious and rational decision of individuals to solve their problems. Now, legal change is that change that takes place in the legal world; however, in order to better understand this change, the types of relationships between law and social change m...

Biodiversity is being affected by the overexploitation of natural resources, the increase of invasive species, climate change, intensive agriculture, and livestock farming. Among these, intensive soybean cultivation has displaced other products such as rice and wheat; intensive cultivation leads to increased use of agrochemicals, which generates severe socio-environmental effects, particularly on biodiversity. The objective of the study was to compile scientific literature produced on the loss of biodiversity caused by intensive agriculture and climate change, and within them the possible effects on the interrelationship between human beings and the environment. The methodological procedure was the systematic review developed in March 2021, using Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT with terms “biodiversity”, “climate change” and “agriculture” in the Scopus, Web of Science and Scie...

This paper contributes to the reflection on the process of transition from analog television to digital television which is to be broadcasted in Peru and considers that digital television offers a better sound and image quality  and less interference. The process of technological migration may take 1 O years. Peru has already opted for rhe Japanese standard HDTV, which among orher advanrages offers portable and mobile reception. Nonetheless, the high resolution relevision does not seem feasible not does ir make enrreprises more competitive. A question remains to be answered: "If the digital relevision will only serve ro have the same programs at a better resolution, what is the use of having so much invested in time and that the State, the privare entreprises and the public ha ve so much invested in money for such a change?" In the capability approach, there is a consideration about initial distribution ofwealth for assessing well-being, that permits to include individual’s own previousexperience in his income trajectories. Therefore, analysis of social costs or benefitsof different policies can be measured different from utilitarian way. In this paper, is analyzed the application of Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum proposalsabout adaptive preferences and the capabilities approach. After six years of crisis in the international coffee market, real income of theproducers decreased drastically. Many proposals exist to made good policies forimprove the welfare of peruvian coffee producers in this context, like it is madein other producing countries. The contribution of this paper is the identificationof adaptive preferences for coffee producers from Peru and Colombia, andanalyzing the basis of information that...

The objective of this study was to develop an index of vulnerability of alpaca herders (VAH), based on the adaptive capacity index (ACI) and sensitivity (SI) to climate change herders. The study was carried out in 2014 obtaining information from 17 alpaca farms from five annexes of the Sallca Santa Ana Peasant Community (SSAPC), Huancavelica, Peru. A conceptual model of ACI and SI was generated, assigning weights and function values to sources and attributes. For this, an Expert Panel from La Molina National Agrarian University (UNALM) and Nexus Program of the Fulbrigth Commission, USA, was formed. The ACI was estimated from human, physical, financial, information and diversity resources. The SI with livelihood and grassland resources. The VAH was estimated with the combination of ACI and SI, using fuzzy logic obtaining three categories: low, moderate and high. The U Mann-Whitney test co...

Antimicrobial resistance is one of the greatest threats to public health, and hospital wastewater effluents are an important source of transmission for resistant pathogens. The objective of this study was to determine the presence of multidrug-resistant bacteria producing extended-spectrum beta-lactamases, AmpC, and carbapenemases in hospital effluents from three regions of Peru. Bacteria were collected and characterized from nine hospitals using chromogenic media and an automated microbiology system. Conventional PCR was also used to identify resistance genes for beta-lactamases, such as blaCTX-M, blaTEM, blaSHV, blaAmpC, and carbapenemases like KPC, NDM, and IMP. Fifty-five isolates were identified from various healthcare centers, with extended-spectrum beta-lactamase genes, such as blaTEM, found. In level II2 hospitals, the KPC resistance gene was found, particularly in the Regional H...

Chronic hyperplastic candidiasis (CHC) is an oral fungal infection produced by C. albicans specie. It occurs in the oral mucosa of immunocompetent persons and presents as a white plaque that cannot be detached upon rasping. Due to this feature, can be confused with leukoplakia, a potentially malignant lesion related to the development of squamous cell carcinoma. The diagnosis is established by biopsy that allows identifying hifas and blastospores of candida invading the epithelium and inducing alterations in the cell proliferation and differentiation of this tissue. The clinical features and probable etiology agent of a case of CHC located in the dorsum of the tongue diagnosed in a 54-years- old male are presented. Histological demonstration of the fungus in the different layers of the epithelium and the alterations induced in the cell proliferation and differentiation of this tissue are...

Currently, in the Peruvian industrial sector, most companies are affected by the low efficiency provided by the staff when carrying out their respective work. This arises because most companies are looking for the cheapest labor they can get and not all these people have the economic capacity to receive a good level of education. In manufacturing companies, it is almost always possible to observe "the law of minimum effort in the operators" which causes operations without added value to arise in the processes, unnecessary delays and all this translates into processes with low efficiency. What we want to demonstrate in the following investigation is how, with adequate training for the personnel, all these mentioned defects can be reduced and with a not very high investment for the company. There are many tools that we can use that the Lean Six Sigma methodology gives us depending on the o...

The members of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have issued various reports on the possible impacts of climate change, and they also point out the need to mitigate its causes and adapt to new scenarios. The impacts will be diverse worldwide, with agriculture being one of the elements responsible, and it will also suffer the effects that in some cases will benefit some crops, but mostly the yield of crops will be negatively affected. Extreme events such as the El Niño phenomenon will occur more and more frequently, causing losses in the agricultural sector, putting at risk the supply of food produced in the northern part of Peru. Since 1977, the Multisectoral Commission for the National Study of the El Niño Phenomenon (ENFEN) was established in Peru, one of its objectives being to reduce the damage caused to the economy and population. In the department of La Libertad, rice...

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of changes in prices on food consumption of rural producers in Junin (Peru) in order to verify if there are some differences in food security between farmers who produce quinoa and those who do not. For this purpose, surveys were applied to 277 producers and the data from the National Household Survey (2016) were used to assess the dimensions of food security. It was found that local food has lower elasticity values than foreign one, but the variability of local food prices is higher. In addition, 27.3% of the population does not satisfy the caloric requirements, and that the quinoa consumption is associated with its nutritional value and cultural factors. In Junin’s rural population a low nutritional value consumption is evident, and there are not significant differences in the daily food consumption between producers who farm th...
