The integrative approach to care for patients demands training to evaluate frequent chronic problems in the outpatient clinic. Patients with hypertension, diabetes mellitus and asthma can be approach using models of evaluations such as the TOPIC that allows to order the evaluations in a structured sequence of four mayor tasks: processing of the information, development of an adequate physician-patient-family relationship and integrating information and learning for life. Processing information implies four sub-activities in which we evaluate patient´s expectations and concerns, severity and control of conditions, adherence and side effects of treatments focusing on damage to target organs and comorbidities. Applying this model can help physicians and their patients to be more efficient in managing chronic problems considering the short time available for ambulatory care.

In this article we address the issue of care rights in Latin America, specifically in Argentina and Mexico, focusing in particular on the legislative processes related to comprehensive care systems at the sub-national and national levels. We draw on the cases of Mexico City (2018-2019) and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (2019) as well as the national level in each country, where there are ongoing legislative initiatives (2020). We take a comparative socio-historical and gender approach to show the social and political dynamics involved in the legislative processes that lead to the recognition of the rights of caregivers and the cared for in each case, at the subnational levels of the capital cities and the national level of both countries. Our categories of analysis are: the social conditions of gender violence; the social and political actors that participate in the construction of...

Bioethics and the humanization of care represent fundamental pillars for transforming health care, promoting a vision centered on the dignity, rights and integral wellbeing of the patient. Traditionally, biomedical models have prioritized the disease, relegating the human dimension of the care process. However, the individual-centered care model redefines this perspective by situating the patient as an active subject, with his or her own values, emotions and sociocultural contexts. Bioethics, as a normative discipline, establishes essential principles such as autonomy, beneficence and justice, guaranteeing ethical and respectful medical practice. For its part, the humanization of care requires a modification of interaction in the health professional-patient relationship, emphasizing empathy, communication and shared responsibility in making health determinations at the individual level. ...

The objective of this investigation is to improve the administrative management of Veterinary Animal Care, based on the use of a web system, where the processes of care registration, obtaining information from the medical records of pets and the level of satisfaction of users who used the web system were basically evaluated. In principle, we were able to detect that the first processes were slow and caused discomfort among the administrative staff in front of the clients; therefore, we suggest using a web system to solve these problems. We pose the following research question: With the use of a web system, is the administrative management of the Animal Care veterinary clinic improved? To evaluate, a quasi-experimental type design was chosen with a post test and a control group, with a non-probabilistic sample, made up of thirty (30) customer service processes. Obtaining the following res...

This is a comment about the situation of the children without parental care, who live institutionalized in the Residential Care Centers, for long periods of time, because their processes of Tutelary Research are not solved. When the children and teenagers cannot return to a family environment, their rights are infringed, especially the right to live in a family environment that contributes to their protection, development and wellbeing. It is an analysis created out of a job experience, about the situation lived by many children, even since they are born, to whom the system usually does not prioritize the resolution for their legal situation.

Dental staff and patients are exposed to numerous allergens in dental care, for this reason, this review aims to provide guidelines for the identification of allergens in the dental practice, describe the signs and symptoms of allergic reactions, and advise its treatment. Allergens include latex, metals, local anesthetics, endodontic materials, impression materials, and drugs. Dental allergens mainly cause type I and IV hypersensitivity reactions. In the diagnostic process, an anamnesis and a thorough clinical examination are required to identify the suspected allergen. In addition, complementary tests such as patch and puncture tests can be used. The dentist must recognize the signs and symptoms associated with allergic reactions, identify the cause and avoid exposure of the patient or dental personnel. In the event, that an allergic reaction occurs, its treatment will include eliminati...

Research on implementing work standardization in an SME company in the veterinary sector is very scarce. This scientific article aims to increase productivity without neglecting the grooming service's quality and applying different engineering solutions to improve resource management. The results obtained can be of great value to similar industries, especially those that want to improve the performance of their operations, avoid waste, and improve their productivity. In companies such as a veterinary clinic, it is common to find that those in charge of the bathroom area do not perform an outstanding performance in their work, considering this task as not very important or definitive for the company, causing unnecessary delays, slow work speed, and unmotivated staff. We seek through this article to demonstrate that, through standardization of processes and areas within a company, the impe...

Palliative care represents an approach that improves the quality of life and well-being of patients and families who go through an illness, alleviating physical, psychosocial and spiritual suffering; with adequate information on their state of health, reinforcing human dignity through the principles of bioethics; it should be included in the entire care process starting from primary care. Health professionals have the commitment and ethical responsibility to mitigate pain and suffering regardless of the prognosis, evaluating the quality of life of the chronic patient, the impact of the disease, their adaptation to it, knowing how the treatment and the possible effects adverse events affect the evolution process, developing patient communication strategies to help decision-making.

The problem of safe obstetrical care has special relevance in recent years due to the interest of health professionals in reducing adverse events and improving healthcare. However, this is pursued in complex, uncertain and variable scenarios and risks, where human behavior may increase the probability of error. We often have to make short term decisions when attending two patients simultaneously – mother and fetus-, and the mother expects a deferential treatment during pregnancy, delivery and the puerperium. These processes involve multiple activities and tasks, and failures may occur. Faced with the paradigm change of involving the patient in the care and decision making process, we have to provide them with the most complete evidence, to avoid contingencies and to obtain the best possible results.

patient care. There have been many efforts to achieve this goal over the last couple of decades. Since the publication of the book “To err is human”, there have been multiple endeavors to avoid adverse events in the patient. In this sense, the challenge is how to achieve this goal, given that delivery care is one of the processes with the most adverse events reported. Based on recommendations of WHO, we consider an approach consisting of: a) Health systems: safety culture, a milestone in this process, requires changes in the organization and is a critical issue to be solved; (b) Health professionals: not only involves physicians but also the health organization system from a medical perspective; people must not only have medical training but should also be specialized and constantly updating; challenges are different if it is a trainee or a medical specialist. There are ways to achie...

For nursing professionals, care planning is important if they want to obtain favorable results for the people they care for, which is why when generating care planning, they should reflect on the subjective aspects that allow the person to visualize the world and that result in the generation of actions or behaviors that favor or harm their health, otherwise the effectiveness of care interventions could be short-lived or short-lived. This situation is what has motivated the creation of this brief consideration of what subjectivity is and how it constitutes the human being as a being in order to understand its implications in health-disease processes.
